  1. Zach hadn’t looked good in a long time in 19 too. any way you cut it, the available QBs list is ugly. You seldom get a guy that going into it, you would be happy with being qb1 out of camp.
  2. Saskatchewan traded Collaros to Toronto in 19, and the riders won the west that year. In 22 the als finished 2nd in the east and traded Vernon Adams jr to bc, who was also a play off team. That’s just off the top of my head. Was Arbuckle traded mid season once? Edmonton traded us Matt Nichols mid season, I believe we traded away Willy mid season too. In the cfl you take trade value when you can get it.
  3. You mean like tyreek hill running the wildcat? the skill floor and experience level is a huge huge factor. Last year or the year before the REDBLACKS ran out of QBs and ran out a wr in the wildcat for I think a quarter? We’ve also seen guys forced into holding for kickers on short notice, which is much harder than taking a snap under centre.
  4. Yep. If he was 6’1 and 205 lbs, would he have a pro career? I don’t think so. it’s not hard, unless you have some the odd centre that fires it off really fast like kelce did in the nfl. If you play a ball handling position, taking a snap should be easy and fast to learn. not under centre.
  5. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/usfl/usfl-draft-2022-philadelphia-stars-take-qb-bryan-scott https://nfldraftblitz.com/2022/10/13/xfl-profile-qb-bryan-scott-the-aaron-rodgers-of-division-iii/ The Aaron rogers of division 3 lol. Spring league MVP, a lot of bouncing around. Good athleticism, and good arm talent. Gets it out quick, and seems to have a good feel for the rush. It's a real interesting move. Kind of guy I'd like to have on the Pr, or as qb3 ideally. He's pretty old already, 29 years. But guys like that on their last shot can be dangerous, like khari jones. Hope we don't sign dolegala.
  6. Maybe Johnson too? And buck pierce? Bet he still wakes up in a cold sweet with flash backs of the hits. Low key would like him to be our oc. He coached/called zone read/rpo/read option the best of any one in the cfl. He also knows how to run the screen/quick game very well.
  7. I can certainly see that, but bc has 3 guys. So I could see them letting one go, especially for a roster player instead of a pick Yup. Best mix of ceiling and floor imo. Plus you can keep him if he plays well to run the strev package and use strev as a real qb2. The great thing about a guy like corny is if we get him, we drop the trade cost of a guy like Masoli. No one can hold our feet over the coals for a crazy package like we got for willy. In terms of draft stock Masoli/blm maybe a 2nd or a conditional pick that could move up to a first if they take over. Other wise it’s 3rd or lower. Maybe a mix of lower picks and a neg lister For value off the roster, a depth piece. If some one likes a guy like bridges, hallett, habba, garbutt, or a swap with Wilson possibly if we get a vet.
  8. top tier, probably not available or too expensive Masoli, blm Tier 2 probably expensive but worthy risks Crum, Adams, ford Tier 3 cheaper moderate upside low floor shiltz, Cornelius tier 4, cheap and fast to bring in Diving through our former cuts tier 5 the dumpster dive pipkin, dolegala
  9. That’d be top of my list. If we can get him for a reasonable price like a 3rd/4th that converts to a higher pick if he takes over as starter I’d pull the trigger. I kind of dread picking up dolegala. He’s exactly the nfl trap prospect I loathe. Giant size and weight with reasonable cfl athleticism, big arm strength, the high potential low production, and the calm disinterest that looks like poise. He’d be better than poopkup or davis being brought in. But low on the list for me. He’s a poor man’s Taylor Cornelius. Corny is significantly more athletic, has better deep accuracy, some better less tangibles like ball fakes, and most importantly mental toughness. That kid took a beating for 3 years and started on the worst team with little talent around him and didn’t crack. And with corny, we could always use him in strevelers role as qb3 and get some one like Masoli.
  10. Pretty much. IMO at best corny can run package plays and some game management short passing game. Other dark horses, former camp cut from this year or last.
  11. I could see that. I hope they act fast and get some one in studying the play book and working with buck. No excuse to not have them reasonably up to speed for the next game. Strev is a beast. I bet he’s doing limited stuff in camp. The real question will be at what level does he return? Honestly if he comes back and is no longer a gadget guy that’s a good thing.
  12. https://3downnation.com/2024/09/10/opinion-this-is-officially-the-weirdest-m-o-p-race-in-cfl-history/ “A defensive back has never won M.O.P. before but it seems like that could change this year.” https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/bombers-jovon-johnson-named-top-defensive-player/article4252378/ lmao cmon man. also uses special teams tackles as a factor in winning modp lol.
  13. That’s 3 on teams n D, vs 4 red zone passing tds. You really think the offence has been the difference maker and carried us to the win streak vs the D doing? Lol ok historic efforts from the D. Not historic turn overs from the D.
  14. Those are the player stats not the team stats. The finish inside the 3-4 is 100% qb dive range. Makes no sense to hand off in that area. But, with in the 10 and red zone yes. And rb screens etc on pa are very strong in the red zone.
  15. I’ve got no faith in our ol or commitment to the run to make that happen right now. edm is real solid, I don’t think they have a play off upset in them though. I think they are in that spot where they will lose close games they should win and play hard but sloppy. Next year they could be a real threat. Any one know where I can find a pdf of the team leaders in stats from the end of the year for the last couple years?
  16. That’s true, honestly I avoided the trash writers. They used to have a couple solid regular pieces and contributors. These days nothing on it ever seems interesting or well written. Said it a bunch but the anonymous insider comments each week was great.
  17. IMO Rourke is middle ish of the top tier in terms of QBs in the cfl. We have no elite QBs right now, but he’s one of the very few with the ability to be an elite qb. Draw would be funny. Other wise, I’m hoping for an entertaining game free of cheap shots and injuries. It’s been a sickening season for injuries.
  18. Yes, by way of historic efforts from the D. We are as likely to have tds on teams and D as passing on our offence, and Brady rushing combined. Which is insane in the cfl.
  19. Except the issues aren’t 12 months old, it’s been talked about longer than that. He struggled dealing with pressure and off setting zachs forcing it all last year.
  20. The entire site has turned into a mess of idiotic biases and agendas.
  21. That’s why it’s run off an iso 4x1 set. Pre snap read is 80% the decider. Then on the snap if the S/hb isn’t on a full sprint it’s 1on1. If they cheat over to help the seam is wide open. Collaros is with out question worse, part of that is he deals with pressure poorly. But the throws and mobility he has left is honestly more than a bunch of teams have had to work with this year. The oc has to make the most of the qb he has. Buck makes the worst of it. It’s the same reason we get away from the run soo much and still can’t make use of Brady in the red zone.
  22. Case made the worst decisions, and lost the spot on ball handling though. He also dances and runs side ways too much especially for our scheme. For me I’d take Johnson off for wheatfall and have lucky as the naturalized import, both sharing the wr spot. Then I’d change his return mate from Augustine to ford. Lucky opened up a ton for us in his start, he can take the top off the D, run yac screens and do a lot off motion.
  23. It’s not been 2 weeks nor has it been based on taking shots. It’s based on having the lowest passer efficiency in the league, being the only team with single digit passing tds, fewest first down passes, the 2nd lowest 2nd down conversion rate, 2nd fewest big plays on passes, 2nd most picks, 3rd most fumbles, 3rd most offensive penalties (fewest on D), top 3 in red zone plays (74) with 2nd fewest red zone tds (18), lowest red zone completion % (48.3) fewest red zone passing TDS with 4 out of 29 attempts, 2nd most 2 and outs, and actually being right in the middle of the pack in sacks given up. Fun fact, we actually have 69 pass attempts longer than 20 yards this year which puts us in the top half. And on top of all that offensive futility passing in the red zone, we haven’t been able to run Brady in once this year. Defences don’t dictate game play, especially in the cfl, double especially since the hash mark move. They might take away one look on a particular snap, but you still have a massive amount of options left. And you can force the D to defend areas on the field leaving openings elsewhere.
  24. Oh man he’s gotta be a good 2.25 jakebar. Kola maybe a 6 lol
  25. No, but he also isn’t making big mistakes. And provides value on offense. Unless we found another grant level elite kr, I don’t think it’d make a difference. Yeah and if it was a regular year for no yards our return team would be doing much better. But we’ve actually done a stellar job of blocking and pressuring kicks this year too. Iirc we’ve blocked 3 punts this year for 1 td and two deep red zone starts on offence.
