lmao he’s our 2nd lber, the 3rd and 4th man in run fits are both dbs. We don’t have another run stopper. Kyrie is only able to make stops if he’s in blocked and the runner hits his gap. that’s not being a good run stopper. Kyrie has zero ability to disengage from a block, or win a battle. Even against none linemen. There will never be a 4 lber set again, here or else where in the cfl. we don’t even employ a 3 lber look at any point this year. dt just put the biggest jinx on kyrie ever
-
Or done any thing of impact at all. If we had just gone into the market and replaced 1 of the top tier FAs we lost each of the last 3 years, our roster is miles better.
-
Yeah. He had a couple of stretches where he was the leagues MODP imo. But they never lasted, and always took time to get to. He's had 1 great and 1 good game this year. Arguably 2 great, but not a 3rd good game even. He's basically late stages lamar mcgriggs now. Great guy, tough as nails, smart, can still flash great games, but can't consistently play at that level any more and is limited in use. We'd be soo much better off running NI Lber, or even going NI at both and all imp on the DL with lawson to rotate. If we could have Jjones and the imp DL plus lawson our D would improve drastically at every thing.

I love strev, but you’re 100% right about crum. He has that resilient toughness and that find-a-way-to-win that brown has. I wouldn’t want to be depending on crum becoming a qb1, but i sure like him as a back up. And he's got tons of tread left. -
what sets him apart is 1, he’s the only lber worth a damn when it comes to pass rushing, and 2 he’s the only guy who can be a run stop mlb and can get back in pass cover. We love to blitz lbers and none of them are effective not just in pass rush but even in eating a block. Kyrie is capable in the run game if he’s not blocked. he can’t get off blocks or close gaps with linemen in them. jones would be the front runner for modp, if he was capable in pass D. he’s been in the area but just not getting deep enough because he has no coverage instincts or ability to read the qb/play. he’s great at scraping to the ball but that’s it. All he brings is the ability to run after ball carriers. thats good in the run game but not in coverage. And the cfl is a passing league. Lber is the least impactful position in the cfl, unless you have some monster like wynton. Which is why soo many teams are flipping the ratio at lber. it makes so much more sense to start a canadian at lber especially if they are athletic outliers. The roster impact you might lose in starting smith/shay, vs what you could get back 4 fold with adams/woods or lofton/4th imp ol. And for my money, shay/smith platooning with J jones you gain a lot. because you won’t have to hide a lber. and you don’t have to dress an imp db to play wil.

For Dinwiddie, honestly, I have no clue what the Argos upper brass would do if they missed the playoffs. I would jump at him to for that other job. I have been extremely impressed with what hes done. -

Honestly, our OL is meh though Vanterpool helps a lot. I wouldn't mind seeing lofton at G and eli at C. I actually think WRs aren't so much a problem for us right now. With Wilson, Demski, Wheatfall, Clercius, and then Mitchell/Sterns/Echols. I think Mitchell and Wheatfall should get shutled around with Echols and Sterns. I'm not sold on either guy but thats a pretty decent battle for the last imp wr spot. Our Wrs have under performed, but I think the system is hurting them. It's not an ideal WR core, but Its above average for sure. I agree that too much gets dumped on strev. I think he could do considerably better with the right coach. But he's also about to be 31 and far from 100% healthy. That's hard to bet on, with a team that needs change. I do think he is gonna get a chance though. We will see what he does with it, and how much hogan messes it up. -
we could even run 30 front, bracket both lawler and white, run a S in the middle, and have a lber in the short mid. defensively, hamilton gives us lots of options to counter them. If we don’t try to blitz or run 40s with two canadians or more.
-
If we don't win this game, most every game after becomes a must win game. Not my biggest concern actually. If we get houston on, and he's smartened up, we need to run the 30 front dropping the rest. I don't think hamilton can beat the base cover scheme from last year. And they won't run. We can't get pressure, but if we play to cover on D we can keep them under the range they want to throw to. If we run 30 front neither should be in 1on1s. lawler also has as many games with under 29 yards this year as 100 or more. The huge portion of his damage this year came in the month from week 2-6. 491 yards and 6 tds in 4 games vs 556 and 4 in 8 games.

I think the only chance they do, is if Elgersma comes in soon and looks far more ready than you'd expect. In that case, you keep strev as the back up next year. Other wise, I think you pull the plug. Even though I don't think strev is largely responsible, He's been used as a battering ram far too much and been banged up, while not being developed. Idk who you get to build a system around him at this point, other than maybe maas who you have no chance of getting. If we had a target who could build with strev I'd say keep him. I think the options above jackson are pretty limited for oc. Maybe if AC is ready for a promotion, but idk if we'd even be viable for that. Or If dinwiddie gets fired but he also would likely get a mroe desirbale role/team. -
If you bbq well enough, the imp linemen (and ni) will appear for sure.
-
When he faces a tackle he can’t beat or faces double teams he gets really soft. hes so geared towards pass knock downs he barely tries to pass rush any more. which makes it a lot harder on the rest of the dl. then we basically always have 1 often 2 dts on the field who can’t pass rush either. hes still able to turn it on an dominate, if he’s kept in one on ones. I think he needs a wake up call to play each game like it’s the play offs, focus on pass rush and play the lanes with in his rushing, needs to be played with a competent pro quality dl, and needs to be rotated. He should be our naturalized canadian.
-
He’s supposed to be in control of his body and not let his head slam into zachs lol. that’s not one point of failure on his part, it’s two. he has to not contact the qb high, and has to be in control of his own head. It was 100% a penalty, it was not some horrid dirty hit though. I don’t expect supplementary discipline and i don’t think it’s needed.
-
Imo, if we jettisoned the thomas and kola, fixed the ratio on the lines to have the best talent possible, we’d see significant improvement. But i don’t think mos will have any willingness to make those moves. None at all.
-
I’d bet my house on concussion. looked like he got knocked out cold. he’s been concussed 2 times prior this year as well. for a guy whose career was previously on the scrap heap due to concussions, that’s about as bad as it gets.
-
the secondary did its job for sure. especially with in scoring range.
-
they need an imp who takes the most snaps. then lawson then jake takes the fewest. ideally even two imp dts with lawson coming in to facilitate an extra imp db.
-
i think we peaked in terms of how out of touch we are with the rest of our league. we’ve been used to over paying role guys and promoting them after paying them. thing is, teams aren’t coming for those guys any more. We are wasting our best talent on the bench and pr, and not retaining our top free agents like lawler. over paying our mid tier guys, and losing/not replacing our top guys, has left us in deep trouble. We need change at this point. pick some guys and send them packing. and i’m not just talking players. The season is about to slip away or we don’t turn things around drastically.
-
our draft was good, that wouldn’t happen. we wouldn’t have brought back some guys like rando, vanterpool etc. Also, walters wouldn’t do that.
-
well we got the out come we deserved from our execution, effort, play call and roster.
-
1 mos hogan jy. horrible roster management, lack of adjustments pathetic execution. 2 both lines. no pressure with any front or blitz, couldn’t keep either qb reasonably clean or open consistent holes. 3 zach/chris. brutal in scoring range, un able to move the ball when we needed. ch a lot to pick from but chris’ pick. three riders given free paths to chris who stands in and still tries to force it down field as he’s hit. that ball could’ve been thrown away and we’d be 2nd down in field goal range. Dishonourable mentions, kola, sergio, kyrie, jones, vaval, holm, thomas, whole Dl. honorable mentions, smith for his great stop on the missed fg, kramdi, wilson, demski, brady, and vanterpool.
-
look at the hold on kyrie too
-
didn’t even fake the right direction still gained yards
