Maybe but then I'd think we could clear up a di spot for one of the imp dbs on our pr. Or even johnson. Idk it's strange.
-
I'd take him over Bailey if he's healthy and fully vaxed. But not if it means missing out on a kicker or rose.
-
Maybe its a personal issue? Idk strange. Perez has been here a long time. Nice to have a back up DB. Maura looked like a beast though. Tbh I wouldnt take any db out for johnson. He'd be nice as a DI for an extra db but this D is certainly the best we could field other then mercy maston. If he and johnson were healthy right now I think johnson would be cut. Hallett would be great to have back for depth and teams too. 100%.

Plus we will have stove back.

It'd be their biggest profit for any game this year.

Now thats what I call a sticky situation. I think our whole schedule is pretty much a week between games. Which is great. Ott and EDM are gonna be sooo bad on their 3rd game in 6 days. I wouldnt be surprised to see some give up football.

Week 9 GDT - second place is the first loser games.

Yep Im aware, but were talking cornelius with the elk. And elizondo is his HC OC and QBC. Which isnt remotely enough dedicated time. -

Yeah I would assume so. But even during the season. Thats a guy who is best served working every day and watching. -

Oh the east is always dung. But I think the calibre of play is even worse now. The division is normally dominated by .500 ish teams. Tor has reason for optimism going forward, if they can get even a 2nd tier QB performance consistently they will be really good. As it is though, I cant see any east teams standing a chance against us bc or ssk. If one of those 3 teams crossed over, they'd sweep the east in blow out fashion. Its not even any given sunday with the east division right now. They are just bad at football. -

Yeah I know. And the east division is the weakest ive seen it in a long time. I wouldnt be surprised if the winner of the east was under .500 But I dont think ott is really in a better place then they were a week ago. I think the ELK are in the worse place. Montreal has really under achieved soo far but I still think they are much better. I expect that teams will be jostling for home field till the last week or two. But right now I think calgary, edmonton, and ottawa are toast. -

Im not too high on what the RBs did last night. Changing qbs and going young can get a little extra oomph early on. They had some huge returns setting up very short fields, and the turn over too. A gadget wr throw play, edm looking like elk in the head lights on the screen pass to flanders, and badly blown coverage on the first td pass. If evans hit harris in stride on the early deep ball thats an un touched td. Harris had to come back and wait a long time on that ball. Devonte dedmon is the most dangerous return man in the CFL right now by a huge margin. When flanders went down he looked good at RB. He averaged 30 yards per punt return on 5 punts. And 33 per kick off return. 250 return yards. The ott offense totaled less passing yards than that, and flanders had a pitiful 3.2 yards per carry to go with his 3.7 yards per carry on the season. They had 24 runs and a TON of screen passes. 0 attempts to get dedmon in on the offense at all. Once again plop is the worst oc at using his talent, especially DI's and dangerous return men in his offense. I think they win 4 or 5 games max. -

Cornelius is kind of wild with his accuracy. His throwing motion can vary a lot from rep to rep too. 2.5 year starter in high school, and a 1 year starter in college. So its not surprising he is raw. The lack of consistency can only be fixed with a lot of training and reps though. He's 26 years old which is good, but he needs to be putting in a lot of work with a QB coach in the season and off season. The more I see him, the more I feel like he shouldnt be rushed. I think most teams are too soft on new qbs, ones with a lot of xp over all, but cornelius needs more time to polish his basic skills more than he needs to adjust to the cfl game. If they take their time with him he's gonna go really far. If not, he will probably have a big set back. Compared his experience with duck hodges in ott. 3 year high school starter, 4 year college starter, 3 NFL training camps, and 6 NFL starts 8 games played. Hodges has a good 1,000 more passing attempts Highschool forward. -

You media guys make it seem like GMs have all the power, but coaches always want at least some say in the roster. Some want a lot of say. (Ottawa Redblacks’ head coach) Paul LaPolice is one of those guys. This is pretty much what I expected. Lapo had a whole lot of control over the roster'd guys on our offense, and has been a HC and OC before. He isnt a big delegation guy. (Former Montreal Alouettes’ defensive line coach) Todd Howard was not fired because of a vaccination issue. I’m guessing somebody above him made him the fall guy to save their own job, which is usually the case when position coaches are fired midseason. I Liked howard when here, I was a bit worried he might be a vax guy but this is kind of encouraging and sad. I hate position coaches getting canned for stuff out of their control. Howard is a good DL coach im sure he will bounce back. Remember a couple weeks ago when Ottawa moved (backup quarterback) Taryn Christion from the practice roster to the one-game (injured list)? That’s because another team tried to claim him off the practice roster. This is really interesting. The guy is a really high end prospect, and super athletic. Its interesting that they had to move him and he didnt just reject it. Im guessing that they werent too confident he would stay with them. Funny enough though he had to agree to go on the IR. I wonder if he fully understood what was going on. And that the team that claimed him wouldve had to start him immediately. My bet is hamilton did it. Though I could see edm, and maybe TOR being the team too. (Newly-signed quarterback Devlin ‘Duck’) Hodges made a mistake signing a three-year deal (with Ottawa). If he becomes the starter there he would have had a ton of leverage by 2023 if he’d signed a one-and-one. Now he’ll have to wait until 2024 to get out of his rookie deal. Crazy, I wonder if he gets an NFL window with deal? I feel like he's a guy who could bounce back to the NFL pretty quickly based on physical talent and experience.

The timing of our bye weeks, and the lack of a crazy short gap between games or multiple games is great. I hate all the home and home back to backs though. But I dont think game before or after bye, home and home, back to back etc will really bother this team. Especially as we get healthy.
-
Yeah idk. Big leg but kinda puzzling move.

Can't stop the flex. He could lose 5 yards and flex -
Sort of. He played a handful of indoor league games. Which honestly is more semi pro. Yeah maybe he will he playing in the indoor league till he's 41. Don't think it'll he here barring a tremendous come back. He was a part of the NFL virtual work out and try out. He can put up good clips from head on with no one on the field. Like a work out warrior but the kicker version.
-
I think itd aid legs a lot. Mourtada couldnt hit any thing from the angle though and hit all his head on XPTs. So I think we will still be in the wind, so to speak.
-
Hes our prototypical long running track freak at WIL. He really does not run like a LBer at all, he made a couple pretty crazy athletic plays before he got hurt. Diving over the back to knock a ball down in specific. This.
-
The bigger field makes the ground level more susceptible to winds, it also creates some very tough angle kicks. Especially opposite leg side on a short field goal. In general the more dome teams and stadiums design makes it easier for the most part too. The NFL also has far more professional holders. The cfl its generally the no2 qb by default.
-
BC wasnt gonna run on us in the first place, but with the way the jeffs have gotten after the passer with out stove, itll be crazy to see what they do with him back in the middle devouring 2 souls on every play. Healthy at the mid way mark of the season, with a 6-1 record? Yes please.
-
Looks like the boys are back. Man if we go in with all 3 back in the line up, tuned up and ready its gonna be huge.
-
Of course thats ideal. But right now if we could just get above the westwood line thatd be great. Id settle for 80% fg from a DI right now.
-
Well tbh if I was a kicker I would rather kick in the NFL too. Its much easier kicks. But yeah, the 600k+ US is a pretty good incentive too. Even the 10k a week on the PR is pretty good money. In 2023 the NFL PR wage is gonna be 12k a week. I wonder if the min or avg CFL salary will have to go up too.
