First week of fall GDT: non-Bomber bye week games
wbbfan replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
100%. If they think plop is their guy still, they should commit to him. If not they should send him packing now and focus on next year. -
Too many violent outbursts to list. But they involving going into the stands, and fighting everything from players to officials. He would sharpen the spikes on his cleats then slide for guys legs and do absolutely anything that would give him an edge or a chance to injure an opponent. 2 of the worst events though include going after hecklers. One was mid-game. The tigers were batting and he jumped into the stands and knocked the heckler down. He then kicked and stomped the man with his spiked cleats. A teammate yelled at him to stop because the man had no hands, lost in an industrial accident though he kept 2 fingers on one hand the other hand and fingers were gone, to which he retorted I wouldnt care if he had no legs too! He was eventually dragged off by fans and team mates. He was suspended indefinitely for this but the tigers refused to play until he was reinstated and the league caved to the demands. Previously he went after a fan right as a game ended. He was on deck as the game ended and a heckler in a wheelchair was assaulted. Cobb went after him with the baseball bat. He claimed the guy called him half black, and said it wasnt a big deal because the guy himself was half black. But not in those exact terms. "Cobb . . . was a scary sociopath. The mere sight of black people so filled him with rage that, on several occasions, he brutally pistol-whipped African American men whose only offense was to share a sidewalk with him" There are several books that go in depth about the horrible nature of ty cobb. He once choked out an ump in a fight that happened in the stands. A black groundskeeper tried to shake his hand, then choked his wife when she tried to defend him. It wasnt just black people and hecklers though. He assaulted his own sun with a bullwhip for flunking out of school. Hes just the worst.

Almost certianly right. If I was ott I would either fire plop now, and take this action or sit him down and say this is the direction we wanna go, if you do it, you 100% will be back next year as HC. Its well known that the difference between a bad team thats turning it around and going to be good, and a bad team is losing close games. But another big difference is a bad team knows when its sunk, and instead of sulking through a season or clinging to an inane hope of a magical turn around, focuses on developing young guys. We saw it in 15 a bit here. Lots of guys got great chances to show what they could do and develop. The worst teams keep running it out there hoping to suddenly become good over night. -

I was thinking if they go to hodges this year they probably win 1 more game. Rookies usually manage to pull out 1. If I was the RBs I would spend the rest of the season focusing on developing a couple young guys. Id dress 3 qbs with Davis as the sacrificial lamb, Hodges and Christion as the projects. I would give those 2 situational drives. First drive of the game, first drive of the half, some garbage time etc. Send em in with max protect schemes and limited options. Like 3 wide and 1 rb. Ease them in and prep them for next year. Try and get them maybe 10 passing reps each or some thing. Then let davis take the brunt of the load out side of that. Treat some games like pre season so you can figure out what you have. Id work on developing dedmon as a rb too. He looked pretty good in those limited reps, and he has the kind of skill set to excel in that role for plop. Put guys like behar and peterman in situations to excel. Auclair too. I thought the same thing. I hate mid week games. -
You make some good points. Steroids are a powerful tool for recovering from a serious injury. In general im very libertarian when it comes to drugs. On face value Id have no problem with steroids being legalized in pro sports, or atleast some thing that you could get exemptions for and get strong support and guidance with. Pain killers are a big problem imo. But there is no easy answer for that, especially in the NFL and pro sports. I think the issue that will prevent that from happening is the re injury rates among athletes. Pro athletes put a great deal more strain on their body than average joes do. For an average joe the risk of a follow up injury due to steroids is pretty low and worth the risk. For pro athletes I think its too high. Its causes joints to be especially prone, namely neck discs and knees. Which are pretty serious concerns for athletes as it is. Frankly, I didnt care too much that bonds juiced up. Most of baseball was juiced at that point in time, and today the pitchers are juicing the balls like never before. Baseball always has some dirty cheating secret. There is no clean era. So I cant really thumb my nose at one era and not another. We all knew in the homerun era that guys were juiced to the ****. And more people watched than ever. To have watched then go and shun the players would be a great hypocrisy. Bonds was a world class selfish ass. Rafael palmeiro claimed the moral high ground, lied in court, and was juiced for a considerable time. You can judge them for that. Neither one is half as bad as some one like ty cobb though.

The refusal is an automatic suspension. But the incident with the official was not. They may have waited on evidence, an investigation, and had the PA weigh in or investigate them self. Its not really surprising.
-
Wasnt it 11pm before? Dont know why they keep piling on more BS. As if the PA would be ok with the CFL doing that lmao. AC has had some new event and excuse every day. If it didnt happen he'd be screaming that on every media platform.
-
Yeah, but it'd be an upgrade for him to go some place with more than 3 fans any way.
-
The exact details have not yet been released. And probably will not be. If they were not released because they refused to get vaxxed, MLSE and the argos implication that it was the cause of their release would be action worthy imo. I hope, especially for young, that its not the case. But at this point having heard nothing from them I would tend to believe it is the cause.

Follows the players around with water bottles and whizinators in case of testing too.

I presume that the two suspended coaches salary do not count against the cap and that their room can be used for jones. But I would bet any thing that their remaining amortized salary is not enough to get jones to drop a lucrative HS job and come up here.
-
I bet hes working directly for MLSE and getting his wage fully or partially around the cap.

The underrated career of Charles Roberts

I think its a hard call between guys like blink, james west, greg battle, tyrone jones, and rod hill. That would be the next group for me off the top of my head. Hill didnt play here that long, but is the franchise leader in picks and blocked kicks. Battle leads in tackles, west did a lot in several categories as a lber, jones is our lead in sacks, and blink the lead in rushing. All that said, I think blink should go in next year. He deserves to go in before harris passes his rushing record which would be late next year at earliest. This year Id put in one of the great 80s defenders. Or maybe coach cal goes up this year. -
0 chance that happened. It used to happen in practices and crap, but not post korey stringer era. I guarentee if some one goes back to the gap film on TSN they can find clips of him drinking. If that did work, no runner or cyclist would ever pop. Every one would just be guzzling water. There are PEDs that you wont get caught for. Stuff that has masking agents, HGH, Insulin abuse and more. He used juice, had to piss was gonna piss hot and is trying to safe face. I get that players will struggle to own up. But for the riders to double down and back him up, especially after he accosted the official. That is some toxic BS.

🤢Sums it up perfectly. That said I think he and that D will much better than they were with sutbbler.

Lawler 7 games 48 targets. 6.9 per game. Demski, 5 games 30 targets. 5 per game. Bailey 7 games 37 targets. 5.28 per game Adams 5 games 26 targets. 5.2 per game. Woli, 7 games 21 targets. 3 per game. Mcknight, 5 games 15 targets. 3 per game. Collaros put up 199 attempts in 7 games. For an average of 28.4 per game. Lawler has a considerable variance, early when we had WRs banged up he got highs of 12, 9, 8 and tied for his 4th highest game of 7. Vs 3 7 and 2 in the last 3 games with the starters all dressed. Darvin has been pretty high focus since he got healthy with 7 3 6 and 7 passes. TLDR, collaros will lock in on a guy only situationally. The wr core is depleted, a guy comes back into the line up, a guy is hot etc. But he mainly spreads the ball around very well. Collaros is about as cerebral as it gets for an aggressive down field passer who protects the ball well.

Despite the globals and the goat shinning our kick cover team has been a step back from previous years. We seem to give up a big return each game now. Luckily its not the year of the returner any more and we arent giving up TDs.

Can you imagine how much greater the fervor of the rider fans would be if the situations where flipped. And AC leonard had claimed a tainted supplement while popping for a micro dose of some ancient ped, then harris refused to piss for 4 hours and verbally accosted the league official? They'd be picketing the league offices demanding his life time ban. Youd think we had just had Chris Jones as our head coach. The riders had more former PED offenders in various levels and leagues then the entire rest of the league for 5+ years. Or the whole Trevis Smith thing. The riders have consistently not cared about character issues for years. Where as the bombers have put a premium on high character guys. And yet they act like its reverse. The double standard is hilarious.

Thats the truth. I think rocq has dressed for the last 3 games but seen limited reps on D.
-
Yep. Im worried about them sticking with the 8 nis though and rotating the NI wils. Roq has been dressed for a good while. Rose would be the icing on the cake. Being able to rotate and go with the extra DB situationally would be massive. Usually when we talk about filling gaps and improving the team mid season its major holes that need to be filled. For the most part we can fill internally right now. So if we can get an ex cfler back and get healthy, and get some decent kicking this team will be un stoppable.

31 even. They have richie leone punting who has kicked a bit, all be it at a westwood level of a accuracy. Id even take Leone to punt and let legs focus on kicks. Leone could KO, and kick XPTs if needed as well.
-
I too have been known to fly into fits of rage and verbally abuse officials when I can not pee.

https://3downnation.com/2021/09/20/dickenson-a-c-leonard-tried-to-provide-urine-sample-for-four-hours-riders-forgive-him-for-suspension/ So the riders are back to the he just couldnt pee story. What a joke.

Stove is likely for the next game, so very likely for the elks. Hes the real flex seal.
