  1. Lmao and being posted by a Shreveport pirate page is the cherry on top. Feels like we might never be free of him, but if he’s just a co I guess that’s not as bad.
  2. He has an infectious enthusiasm that comes from a deep passion for the sport and the league. I love it, though he does need to be managed by a color guy or host he gets a bit crazy and yeah the punch drunk thing is real. They usually put real media types like John liu (who is awesome) on the sideline. But I’d love to see a football guy in that spot giving more in depth updates on the game. Matty could let loose with his energy and not be over extended.
  3. Agree. We need all the ni talent we can get in this league. I do love seeing guys excel who played college ball in Canada, doesn’t make them better or more Canadian. If you were in a position to pick between a D1 school and likely leaving home for a good Canadian college program why wouldn’t you bet on your self and try to give your self the best shot. Jbr has mentioned it even if you don’t play you get drafted in the cfl. It’s been a long time but when I was around college football the difference between mid tier d1 schools and the good Canadian programs was still like the difference between the stamps stadium and facilities and the Dallas cowboys. In baseball they have had the same thing with “true Yankees” for a long time and it’s widely panned across the sport.
  4. I love what lapo brings to the booth, he’s a bit more loquacious than ford, who is also really enjoyable. Either of those combos and I un mute the tv turn off cjob. I’d be down for a show recounting the week with Ford, Paul and Dunk. Dream would be to have Sara orlesky host.
  5. You know it’s funny, I kind of feel bad for Rourke. He seems like a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. He’s got incredible arm talent and dynamic running ability. He got rushed up with hype before he should’ve, gotta get past the sophomore bumps as a starter before mop talks and mega pay days. It’s not his fault, but here he is. This league needs QBs, and stars and Canadian stars. I want us to beat him like every one else in the league. But I really want us to shut up the natl media clowns.
  6. https://3downnation.com/2024/08/20/saskatchewan-roughriders-qb-trevor-harris-named-cfls-top-performer-for-week-11-by-pff/ “The Bombers’ offensive line led the charge as the highest-graded unit this past week with a group score of 70.7. The best individual grade on the line belonged to left tackle Stanley Bryant who finished with a 70.7 score. He was followed by Canadian left guard Liam Dobson (63.7), then American right tackle Eric Lofton (63.3).“ Another suspicious pff grading. Our ok certainly played much better again vs bc, but big Stan had his roughest game in a while. Lofton out played him with ease. Randolph out played him as well.
  7. The allure of cbc is the massive audience you can reach. I know they’ll never come back with a killer studio crew like they did back in the day. And chances of them ponying up any significant money are slim and none.
  8. I’d agree that most of the broadcast content is better now across the board. But back then it was also worse across the board for most sports. Tsns primary form of improvement has been through having a new generation of people in front of the camera. I think people have forgotten how bad the old broadcasts used to be. I mean camera work is still bad, but it was horrid back in the day. I vaguely remember them being kind of nooby, but it was honest atleast. I face palm at cjob now a couple times a game tbh. It’s hard to live up to bob. Loved those days. CBC really had tremendous on air talent for the cfl.
  9. They picked up games that otherwise wouldn’t have been televised from 2004-2006, and had dramatically better camera work than the alternatives of the era. The booth work was mid pack, and while York was a pest covering the cfl he wasn’t bad on their panel. You’ve lost the plot if you don’t remember how bad the camera work and quality back then. CBC had a much better panel and booth work than the rest back then or now.
  10. Pretty sad for such an important partner to the cfl. But I mean the cfl can’t be assed to take care of their own stats. It’s the laziest era for the cfl I can recall. Sportsnet had really good quality when they had the cfl in the past. It would be heavily dependant on politics, but the best partner for the cfl is the cbc imo. I don’t think they pay like they used to in the Olympics era, but if we could get decent dollars I think the volume of watchers they could bring as well as scheduling flexibility would be huge.
  11. I wonder how much is plans to bring in nfl cuts, or the lack of Canadians on the market. I mean who is in shape that you could grab that has any real upside? In general bringing in guys like this is always good. I do hope to see some more shuffling on the ar/pr in the next couple weeks.
  12. Yep. The 21 D was lights out in the 4th in a freakish way, but this squad is playing a whole game with soo many more minutes on the field. JY is really flourishing, I’m sure having hall still here to support him is a huge help in how fast he’s adapted his vision and implemented it. With a green secondary no less. they don’t have an award for CO of the year, but right now imo it’d come down to Jy and Ac. At this rate ac might pass buck for the next hc job
  13. The big difference is our kick cover has been exceptional this year, they are not only making up for shankahan getting us a net 15-20 punt on average almost twice per game, they could generate more field position with deeper kicks. If Toronto kicked 10 yards deeper on punts it’d just be 10 more punt return yards. If we kicked it 10 deeper on punts we’d get probably 7-8 more yards net. The proof is in the kick offs. The last month when Sergio has been averaging 70, we’ve been getting down field a making the extra yards count. In bc Sergio averaged 73 yards per kick off, terry Williams who isn’t a bad returner, averaged just 22 per kick return. He had a long of 27 on a freakin 80 yard kick off. Williams is averaging almost 24 yards per ko return this year too. So we kicked it deeper and still held him short of his average. Kick off cover is a bit easier than punt cover, but still these guys can get down field and make plays. Ayers is an old school pyramid busting kind of guy, he blows guys up who try to block him down field.
  14. When we dominated the league people talked about parity. Well now the whole league is on the same level lol.
  15. Honestly right now it’s better than 21 before stove came in. The 21 team dominated field position and with offence as well as D. This D has had to endure much worse field position from awful punting and an O that puts up one passing td every few weeks. We also have the hash mark change that has turned every qb into a guy who completes 70% of their passes.
  16. I could see ott or tor beating them in the ef. Imagine if masoli claws his way back to a gc only to run into a bombers D even better than 21? Lmao
  17. Idk what would be better, if Rourke continues to struggle, or if he turns it around and we slap him around again in the play offs lol.
  18. I feel like they are a bit soft like us last year. But they have some incredible weapons and in the league where every one is lower mid, they are certainly the head of the class on the field. That wr core is really good now, hands down the best imo.
  19. Can’t believe clown shoes keeps getting work and this fast. I wonder how much control Washington had with coach o running the show. I’m sure he will get another job next year. Maybe buck hc in edm and Washington dc
  20. Bonds ford and nichols are 3 of the top guys in the whole league too. Top 6 for sure. All 3 should be all stars this year.
  21. Only one punt that wasn’t very good, basically gave them the 20/25 on the catch punting from their 55ish. Which still by his standards is not awful. I wonder if it’s adjustments being made, or just the field position he was punting from. Also worth mentioning, Castillo was kicking the crap out of the ball on kick offs. 73-74 yard average which is bede esq. bc had a pitiful 57. That’s huge. He had 71 last week, 70 the game before. He was averaging like 61 for the few week before that. With lows in the 50s. At first I was thinking maybe it was wind aided, but it seems more than that. Bc place is a strange place to kick with the air movement up high.
  22. You could run pin and pull with that, you could read an end, you could have a play side fast screen, which could be to lawler or a slot with him running a fade. Kola isn’t a masher. Our ol is built around zone schemes. It only makes sense to play that way.
  23. I put it 99% on buck. Zach played a lot better, ol is a lot better, wrs made plays rbs ran very well. Play design has been awful, no play calls that set up wrinkles down field, poor usage of rubs etc. Imo, he’s a future hc of the bombers. Might not be any time soon, but he’s the sharpest football mind on our coaching staff in a long time. If we gave him a 4th down in every drive he still would’ve sucked to be fair lol.
  24. Agree. How good imo is still a question though. He never had a sophomore year as a starter and only played half a year as a starter in the first place.
