I dont agree that desjarlais was markedly better than gray. He was more polished and of the 3 is furthest along but also has the lowest ceiling. Of the 3 Eli was the most impressive to me actually. Coming from out of football for a year and a half ish off an injury he didnt show any rust. He only played in like 5 games or so, and came in to the 5 for parts of 2 games but when he was in, and especially on the heavy set he can really move his man. Hes a pancake machine on the inside and a natural center too. Its also an easier progression for desjarlais, who is a guard only to move in to a full time guard spot. Where as Desjarlais is a natural tackle, but has been moved around with being light for the T spot in the NFL and here with the best tackle tandem in the league. Going T to G is generally considered the easier of transitions but as we've seen in the past it doesnt always work well.

Sportsnet despite mighty dork had some great camera work compared to the same era of tsn. Prime ages of cbc they had a great panel. Currently the TSN group is very long in the tooth and could use new blood.

Itd probably be better quality in that case too lol. I think that'd be awesome though. You could have it available on the app store / xbox / ps store etc. Id play the hell out of an old school CFL remake of tecmo.

I think the yearly option window for veterans is fair. So if a CFL vet is on a 3 year deal and after 1 year has an NFL team willing to sign them, not a tc invite but a deal, they should be free to go. But then have the remainder of their CFL deal converted to option years. So for the next 2 years they would come back to the same team if they return, but then the deal would be 1 year here then a FA again. I think in the last CBA some thing along those lines was talked about. It sucks to lose stars, but every time a guy goes from the cfl to the nfl the door for young americans coming to the cfl opens wider. Itd be nice if that included a buy out bonus for the cfl team paid by the nfl team too. Same as happens in un affiliated baseball. Cant blame them at all for wanting to be closer to home, pay less taxes and make more money. Not to mention the NFL pension is nothing to sneeze at.

Sky high potential but he projects as a possible tackle as much as any thing. He played well, really all the young NI ol who saw action last year had really good flashes. Most teams would kill to have our back up NI ol. Gray and Eli are future starters with out question imo. They have the potential to be stalwarts at OL for several years and that is up in the air. But considering it was his first CFL TC last year, and his first game action you cant ask for more.

I think its long time that cfl veteran deals be guaranteed. And that teams (argos cough cough) are responsible if they spend like wild then under achieve. Perhaps a partial guarantee system like once they pass physical they are 1/3 locked in, once they make the regular season roster they are 2/3 locked in and at LD ish they are 100% locked in. Im not sure year plus the option is a great solution, but Idk what would be better either.

I think thats always huge for the canadian mafia. They always look for guys who are tough nasty and very football smart.

I was really curious about how itd work with cheating like he touched on. But like he said they draft mostly based on film and production, they arent Al davis drafting who every wins the work out portion of the combine. I will miss the 1 on 1s though, I think thats a big loss.

The sun is cheap quality toilet paper. The freep is the only news moderately worth while in MB.

what a ****. If we can get an elite top tier wr I think its a slam dunk. But if its any thing less than a legit proven no1 wr I wouldnt chase or spend too much money. We have a tremendous amount of talent at WR ready to explode. We dont need a no2/3 type guy right now. Makes me wish we couldve got lucky back but it is what it is. Maybe it opens up a draft day trade to get an impact wr.

Cap signing bonuses and increase the amount for each added year signed. But really I dont think any thing happens any time soon to 1 year deals, and i dont think the PA would or should agree to any changes soon if they give up the 20%.
-
All the risk, and requires a very high amount of up front cash.

MLS pulls in less than his estimate, with 27 teams while being the top soccer league in north america and the most popular kids sport in north america. I dont see any chance of the CFL game beating mls in terms of us TV draw.
-
I have trouble buying that when the CFL has little US tv draw and the XFLs previous deal was worth 0 dollars. At this point I need to see some proof of concept from the XFL before believing much of any thing.
-
2 weeks into the nothing burger of merger and I feel like things will start to settle back down now. Has XFL 3.0 folded yet? And now my watch begins.
-
Sucks. His cap room might be useful to sign some one when the argos have to cut half of this off seasons FAs.

The chance of a collapse like that is a lot higher if a guy has never seen a pro football athlete rush his kicks, or had to make game winning kicks in the pros. Expecting a rookie with no pro experience to come in and just do his job every snap in an 18 game regular season isnt realistic. Way too many variables and unknowns at play with a rookie to expect that.

In that case i dont see a problem. Every CBA negotiation PA's talk about wanting a partnership and to have their stake scale with growth. In times like these the hair cut should be across the board as well. Im sure not all players would get that 20% back when fans came back, some would be cut etc. But 20% is not a big cut for a short term loss to prevent missing a whole other season of football and salaries. I also feel like in our stadium we could socially distance 10k people. Leaving would be a bit of an issue, but if you taper exits and have people guided through to different exits I think it could work OK. I know plenty of people who would pay a premium even to bein the 10k (my self included)
-
One great point is will the front office and coaching staff face the 20% cut as well. If thats the case im 100% on board. If not its some BS.
-
I feel like there are more vet kickers than open jobs rn. Yeah, but id always be leery of resting duties on an unproven guy. Maybe sergio castillo would be a better fit, I think he's a FA.
-
I wonder if we would have interest in either maher or hajrullahu for a camp leg to push liegghio
-
I read some thing to the extent of after a couple years 1 game will have the same value as the entire cfl tv contract.
-
Thats been worked around in both minor league and un affiliated ball, and in some union industry. It could also be worked around by instead of having a hard number of world players, they would have more salary cap room for each world player on the roster and even more for starters. If you can start all americans but have half the cap space of a team with the req number of globals for instance, every team will scrounge for those players. Pretty impressive to be still going that strong. I always saw a considerable disconnect between people who played madden/live etc and people who supported and went to games. As much as Id enjoy a CFL game, especially at any where near a madden level of quality I dont think that impacts the league as much. I dont think it would bring on a ton of cash or bring in a ton of people. I believe i also heard recently that ncaa football was making a return.

Edmontons isnt bad, but even when it was new it wasnt a great football venue imo. It gave them a huge capacity but the stands are soo far from the field. Maybe they could get away with a thorough over haul. To be honest the state of the league seems better than it was just over 10 years ago. Ottawa has a great stadium and following. Hamilton has a fantastic owner and stadium, the riders and us got new stadiums, MLSE finally owns the argos, montreal has finally turned it around and has private owners and the tv deal has grown considerably. For a league like the cfl to get that many new stadiums, and many really nice ones too, in a 10 year span is great.

I think at worst the truth lies some where between hodge and henny penny. I dont think the CFL is on the verge of collapse out side of covid. It does need some improvements and growth especially amongst the youth of the nation. It cant carry a team or two each year financially. The biggest thing is getting new stadiums in alberta. That might be a situation where the league and the fed might need to kick in. I dont think a new stadium in southern BC does any thing. Maybe playing out side of the metro VC area is whats needed. From my time in bc, the interior is hard core lions country.
