  1. Sad but not at all surprising. the usfl announced its year end awards before their play offs today. Riley wins coach of the year and he got two player position wins too. I haven’t followed the usfl. But I wonder how much of its talent will end up being air lifts for the cfl rather than the nfl. I feel like teams aren’t sending out a lot more tc invites at this point. I’m sure a couple guys will get looks but the cfl might be the real beneficiary.
  2. Yeah. And yoshi didn’t do well at g here previously.
  3. Gray isn’t huge he’s a modern athletic ol. Especially in the tackle mold. Some tall guys really make it work in side but generally it’s shorter heavier guys that succeed inside. Being 6’6 isn’t really an advantage at guard. for comparison desjarlais is 6’2 320 and gray is 6’6 300. Bond was 6’7 but was also 360lbs. I have no doubt a long tall athletic guard can work and that some guys will have and are. But it’s harder for sure. It really depends. Some times it does especially going from a bad line to a good consistent line. When we put in bond and moved hardrick to tackle it didn’t take time to gel. Moving on from goosen suhk bond etc wasn’t slow.
  4. It’s really strange. Idk why we wouldn’t be showing looks now and setting up twists on those looks later. Buck has shown flashes of great creativity and individual game planning. He should be able to keep defenses off balance with out sacrificing regular season games quality. It’s not even vanilla. It’s gruel. Vanillas got too much flavour for what we’ve been running. thing is a lot of the stuff we’ve been doing for years. Jet motion passing schemes demski in as rb screens etc. feels almost like plop out thinking him self.
  5. He was yes. He played some c in college last year too. gray is alright in pass pro. I don’t fault him for the holdings really. But he isn’t ok in run pro. He’s frequently been collapsed. Especially on the heavy set. you are right though that it’s not a one man issue by any means. And a switch would not it self cure our issues. The whole ol has struggled and we haven’t done a good job of forcing the defense to stay home with jet motion etc like in past years. Or stretched the field side line to side line with screens and the 15-20 yard out. starting on other teams doesn’t mean much. A lot of teams have shoddy ols but we are more reliant on ol play than any other. Right now almost every team has an ol that would take a job on the starting line here. if this is still a thing in 5 games we might be on qb2, and rb 3. Both backs have been taking a royal pounding.
  6. I’m pretty sure at this point that couture won’t play this week which means Dobson draws in. I would start gray again just for consistency with kola at c. But on short yardage I’d move gray outside and put Dobson at rg. The only way I’d go double switch and have Dobson start at guard is if we were gonna run a lot of 6 man heavy fronts. long term or even medium term I think gray is a rt though. Maybe the ol needs a bit of shaking up. Their performance hasn’t been this poor since before bond came into the roster and hardrick moved to t.
  7. I hope that’s it. wish Richmond was healthy.
  8. What we see is very much the defense prior to last year. Until jeffcoat came back any way. With him back it’s already better now. The dl will adapt to no nose. And eventually ba will be healthy. At that point our defense will be excellent.
  9. Big cultural difference between the two though. I don’t think any one would argue that cf puts out a couple toxic quotes and or events each year. Collaros would never throw his wrs under the bus for instance.
  10. Vaj can’t execute the rpo khari runs reliably. He just makes terrible decisions. 4 passes is kinda silly. yeah and he’s still young enough to have his best ball in front of him. It’ll be interesting to see what he nets.
  11. Glad the old coach is getting in finally. chip cox and suitor as an announcer? Really? Pathetic. Should be a slam dunk imo.
  12. I feel like vaj is a gentle breeze from being traded and Harris being anointed the new starter. Maybe sent to edm. His last good game was week 8 of last year vs the Toronto in turmoil team. He had one really good game last year and that was vs ott. He’s still a guy stuck between being a back up and a starter imo.
  13. Oh no not Lofton. If that guy starts at tackle may as well sit collaros so he doesn’t miss the rest of the season.
  14. Plus the best release in the league. He’s the toughest qb in the league to sack. I can see pressure boiling over there though with inability to score tds and just dumb play calls at time. I think it’s a mix of talent and experience lacking from last year. I think with experience this roster will get much better. Buck has struggled play callling too. We haven’t seen any kind of rhythm from the offense yet.
  15. wbb, ham, ssk, to, mtl, cal, edm, bc, ott. becomes Wbb cal bc ssk ott tor ham edm mtl
  16. Here here. x2 for schoen.
  17. Last I heard he and his family lived here since tc 2021.
  18. Oh right he was the di a couple times too. I think it was 1 or 2 starts ya? I really like the guy and hope he pans out.
  19. Houston only got in for like one game didn’t he?
  20. The worst qb in the league for deep balls is he also the least clutch?
  21. Honestly 3 man pressure is under rated too. If you have some one who can rush from the inside a lot of ols struggle more with 3 man pressure than 4 or 5. You have to communicate and switch really well. With layering rush lanes you’re less likely to get really long pockets. You don’t generally get that chance at really fast pressure but it makes long tosses harder. It also makes contain easier with out sacrificing pass rush. faj doesn’t pick up drops well. If you don’t let him scramble and hit those short timing passes at the seam he beats him self. I think jones has taken this from the bombers the last few years. We didn’t do it every snap but we dominated him with this look.
  22. No pre season last year though. This year while teams have a lot of work to do no exceptions, the games have been really entertaining this far. If things only get better this is going to be a fantastic season.
  23. I’m glad we don’t have any dummy hunters on this team. a lot of stupid trash talk this week. From owners to players just putting their foot in their mouth. Meanwhile the back to back champs are un happy with their performances despite being in beaten. It’s not hard to see why Hamilton can’t win the big games why mtl is back sliding into a dumpster fire and the elk are the core of said fire.
  24. Ultimate sign of a loser. Act like you’ve won with lots of game left to play. ott is on the fringe of becoming a really good team. The typical sign of a bad team on the fringe of becoming a good team is losing close games despite playing well enough to win. The step that differentiates a good bad team from a great team is discipline. Disciplined teams find ways to win games. That’s why we beat sask and ham both back to back to go back to back.
  25. Luck is the residue of hard work. Some pretty good nfl coach
