  1. cant draft a brain for the franchise
  2. I cant see london ever working. Maybe they become a floating market that hosts a couple games every year and maybe a superbowl etc but a full time team seems like a worse idea then vince mcmahon starting up another football league. Mexico city though I think would be top of the list by far in terms of want and reality. The nfl doesnt seem really interested in toronto. They'd never be no1 in that market likely not no2 for many years and TO fans are the quickest to jump off a bandwagon in north america. 2 years with 10 wins or less total and you couldnt pay them to attend nfl games.
  3. bc is a prime candidate for us to unload some of our Ol depth on for draft assets. I dont think itd be couture though. I love gray but he is the highest upside of the none starters and almost certainly the highest paid. He, eli, desjarlais and speller are all studs though. I just hope we dont end up letting one or more of those guys go for no return. We are also insanely deep at return man, I could see some mid range pick flip for one of grant, nelson or whitehead. I dont think it'd be grant and I think nelson would bring the least of the 3. I would like to see whitehead in a 2nd year here though. We havent had that dynamic after the catch play maker potential in a long long time.
  4. I bet hes kicking him self for not taking a deal with a signing bonus already. If the season doesnt happen or is significantly shortened he could lose a TON of cash.
  5. I know of a contract where a radio or sat tower was to be taken down, one guy bid 1 million bucks and no one else bid so he got it. Two guys went up with harnesses and cut their way down. Finished the job in one day. Gov't contracts are insane.
  6. I wonder if all this will lead to a public exodus for vince. How man times can you make such huge swings and miss and still come up to bat?
  7. Its all about the weighing of career vs peak. A long career with no peak still has weight where you draw the line is extremely subjective. The point was geroys career was 15 years with 6 years under 755 yards. Compared to the elite wrs its allen esq. Allen played about 150 years (23) with 11 years over 3500 yards and 20 tds 8 times. Garcia was in the cfl for 5 years, started for 4 and above that allen good years mark for 3 years. If you compare their peak 3 year stats youd be surprised. Though garcia was unquestionably a more talented and skilled qb, does that margin in those 3 years edge out the incredible longevity of allen? its subjective but in no way a clear cut thing. At the same rate you could take a bunch of 1 or 2 year and gone cfl wrs like joe horn. You could also argue the reverse, would chad johnson be among the best cfl wrs ever? he didnt play here in his peak but his peak was hands down higher level then geroy simon. Same with andre rison. The tldr is that geroy was great, but elevated above others on the length of his career. Damon allen is an extreme case (as is emit smith) but I used them because they make the point clear and easy (they are the captains of that tier of player for me). Vs the murky arguables mentioned above. How many of damon allens years in the cfl would he have been better then our starter? I feel like its more then half but it might be a bit less. How many of those years would he have taken us to the next level?
  8. The depth of greatness at qb is very different then at wr in modern cfl history though. Geroy is a top 10 wr all day. Allen is top 20 at qb and yes by the sum of his career and not by the peak of his level. The wrs have milt in his own tier then pitts in another then geroy in a crowded tier. The top 4 or 5 cfl qbs are all milt tier. The next 5 ish are pitts tier.
  9. Production is not the same as quality. Doug brown wasnt leading all DTs in tackles and sacks every year, but he was the best at his position. 2006 was also a bit of a thin year, mop is also a fickle political picking with heavy offensive skill position bias, but even then id have given it to brent johnson or charlie roberts over geroy. in 2006 as top wr id still take milt, bruce or tucker over geroy. 100% In the top 5 wrs of all time you quickly get to a point where you have to choose how you weigh duration of a career vs brilliance in a shorter time span. A bunch of guys with 5 year or smaller sample sizes would be better then geroy pound for pound. Vaughn was a murder for a while. Seemed like he could run slant routes on us all day long. It felt like we took the foot off the pedal in the second to last game and never got back in the groove after that.
  10. he was, but the gap between geroy and milt is the same to me as the gap between allen and flutie.
  11. Geroy was a fantastic wr for a long time. And pitts was great. But no one is in milts league. If he had an elite qb for half his career he'd honest to god have 50 more tds, and a couple 2k years. I look at geroy in the same light as I look at damon allen. Never the best player at their position in the league, but alot of time in the higher tiers. Its the same deal as emmit smith. NFLs all time leading rusher, but not really in any ones top 5 best rbs of all time.
  12. Such an amazing game, the roar when bolden picks off danny mac is the loudest I ever heard at the old stadium.
  13. In the weeks leading up to that teams were getting past montreals long time cover 0 look in different ways, but that always seemed the night it died. Sir charles ran up the gut and tore apart a stacked line over and over again. Beating the als back then was the high spot of a season too.
  14. mr 78% richard karikari. none worse then ed philion though.
  15. The 8 Argos fans would be alone in the stands if every other pro league in the country didn't play.
  16. And another one bites the dust. And with it a good generation of spring football leagues.
  17. Pretty good prospect for camp. Showed some great ball placement and touch with plenty of arm strength as well. Release is a bit of a wind up at times but hes smooth and composed over all. Great arm talent in a young dual threat qb gonna be fun to watch battle it out in camp.
  18. Thats really cool and pretty smart. If you dont gouge people on booze it could be a smash hit.
  19. I certainly hope so, but if im an elite WR im not sure id bet on it for a 1 or 2 year deal. 2018 darvin was 8th in yards and 4th in tds. 9th and 8th in 2017, dressler 10th in catches in 2016 with denny 8th and adams 9th in tds, Nick moore was 10th in catches in 15, denny was 6th in catches and 2nd in yards in 14, watson was 10th in catches with TE 7th in yards and 3rd in tds, Te was 8th in catches 2nd in yards and 2nd in tds in 2010 and bowman was 9th in tds in 2009. The last time we had a wr with 100+ catches 1500+ yards and 15+ tds was milt in 2002. The last time we had an elite / top tier wr core was 2007 with armstrong TE and milt. After the TE era we've been a team that doesnt put the emphasis on throwing down field and producing big yards and points with wrs.
  20. Thats really cool, I hope I can find some streams to check out some of their games. Imo, the only rogue that is bad is on a missed fg.
  21. Doesnt their deal run 3 total years then he is betting on a big tv deal for after that? I think if they have a second season they might need to start it a bit earlier. March madness, nba play offs etc are gonna bury them.
  22. Must've some how missed it in the sea of off season banter... For hefney I wish they wouldve done some thing like donate half of the 50/50 one or two nights to him. Or part of it each night for a year. Such a sad, tragic story. And the war on drugs is a total sham.
  23. 10/10 for the pun. Flowers is a talented runner, but at this point you dont have to stretch to find an athletic running qb with a flawed arm.
  24. Bombers add a 2 guys, S isaiah johnson (SC by way of kansas) and OL shane carpenter. https://www.bluebombers.com/2020/02/28/bombers-add-two-roster-12/?fbclid=IwAR2xgLDofV6OkjOgS3NrFG9fuIh0AB2lOkAtFB9vqd2MtdWh-tz_rA0S-iA Johnson is interesting, pretty solidly a S and not a DB. Big time hitter and play maker but not a great cover guy. Average athleticism but smooth. Real good size for a CFL S. We seem all in on using an imp at S this year. Carpenter comes in being a guard in college despite a tall lean modern tackle build. But he did play on a deep and talented OL in college.
  25. To be good in limited action is easy for an OL. Come in on short yardage and blow up a guy who isnt the size of an interior DL. What do the riders do at QB if fajardo cant beat the sophomore jinx? A lot of his production came off 1 timing route and spinning into a roll out to the same side. Weve seen qbs have a promising year 1 as a starter then get destroyed by the second year wall when teams have ample film on them and game plan for them many many times. Every team in the cfl has this question at multiple positions. The difference is the bombers have a premier front office. We developed on of the best OLs in the league, lost pieces and replaced from with in, then had young guys forced into action early and they excelled. Weve rolled over our defensive backfield to a great extent each year over the last few years and still the guys we let go are starters for other teams. Other teams clamor for our cuts and free agents. We have shown the ability to identify and replace production at almost every position on the field. So we dont have a reason to worry.
