no doubt he was. But matt nichols running for his life looks a lot like wade miller after he sat down too fast. And streveler couldnt make that throw on the run. I was amazed he survived the spear of death.
-
XD similar and yet still not as good. I was gob smacked by the level of mobility and toughness ZC showed against a mean calgary team.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

Weve cut a TON of better DE prospects then vereen in the last 2 or 3 years too. They pretty much got rejected by Training Camp Fodder, and called out on their bs pay lmao. -
They roll both for an extra db. Not nearly enough of Jake out Kongbo in with Drake and Richardson. Roh is not the best pass rusher on the team he's one of the least capable of getting pressure on his own. That's why he's on the bench here for extended periods of time.
-
100% that screen pass kept him north south and is the difference between a first down and punting. Yeah it really shed light on how immobile Nichols has been since his injury last year in TC. I said last week Nichols was moving like an old Danny mac in the pocket and collaros really hammered that home.

We mixed it early to no success then switched to the 30 front with Jake Thomas at nose which also had no success but we were rushing a lb/db a good bit. The later game d when we got Richardson back involved with heavy mix of blitzing as well as showing blitz and dropping brought lots of success. We even dropped both ends a few times which really messed up blm. That is the identity of halls d but mos has a considerable hand in our defense now too. Thomas is a tremendous rotational ni DT. But starting him takes a lot away from our lines pressure. With Nevis and Richardson inside each end has man to man blocking every snap. Calgary has answered our pressure by going 6 ol with an extra imp on the ol and using metre as an every down black who has great blocking. Our front 4 with Thomas plus 1 lber maybe another rusher isn't going to get pressure on Calgary in that set. Also willy has been heavily torn between pass rushing and playing pass lanes for knock downs. If any 30 front was gonna work against Calgary's 6+1 blocking it's Nevis at nose Richardson and Thomas at end then playing willy in a jack lber rushing from stand up and hand down from lber end inside etc and dropping back under coverage. That way we get a big push on the ol and can push the center back into the pocket. The de at nose stuff left blm with a clean pocket to easily step up into.

Alot of mix zone match zone and generally some one is in covered due to our blitz and drop schemes

You gain nothing starting a running qb and trying to weave in a passer. But spelling a throwing qb with a mobile qb is proven effective. If collaros gets knocked out of the game as a starter we lose nothing from having streveler come off the bench. If collaros has to come off the bench he has to find a passing rythym. Remember the hurry up package after the short yardage team got a first down last year? We can have that back. Not to mention it's what our offense is designed around. We never made the read option or rpo work real well. Collaros made better use of our system then Nichols did and showed better accuracy then we've seen in a long time.

We saw bishop throw one from his goal line one leg on the ground body nearly parallel to the ground 60 yards for a giant play against us when he was an argo. Brock had the best arm of his era and 2ks prior by a good margin. But it's no comparison. Modern athleticism has lead to a significant velocity strike and not just in football
-
No it wouldn't have been. You can challenge it was a spear or illegal high hit to qb, they reviewed hook slide. Plus it's never a mistake to use the challenge to support and defend your qb and have the team sit and watch the replay again.

Impressive thing about collaros last night was his ball placement and catchability. Of 6 incompletions 1 was a pick on him but was a product of lack of experience in the system. 2 throw aways and 2 passes were wrs flubbed. Darvin Adams on the challenge shouldve turned up field sooner on the scramble if he did he probably scores on that play. The other demski half dropped as he was hit from behind. Combine that with the fact we saw soo few second down check downs for half the distance needed or less. And he hit guys in stride a lot. Letting them keep their momentum and not have to come back to the ball a lot. The most accurate passing we've seen in a very long time all in all. Our pass rush really misses having Nevis and Richardson in as starters. Kongbo had a great game too if few stats. Couple pressures couple qb hits a pass knock down and got in on a bunch of gang tackles. The 30 front look with a de at nose was pretty dismal for the ends to play through too.

Plus mos for not challenging the hit on collaros and the horse collar tackle on grant.
-
Big HH to the crowd too. Atmosphere was incredible and soo loud for a sparse turn out the rowdiest all year too

1 grant 2 Medlock 3 lawler HH collaros insane pass to adams

It isnt happening. So yes, living in reality and not betting every thing on a lotto tickets chance is what I expect. And what is happening with the roster weve announced.
-
If he called plays the whole game like he goes in the first quarter we'd be 18-0 this year.
-
In theory yes, in practice no. Its still play off football.

Streveler started at qb, im talking about running some option and the short package. Im not saying have him drop back to pass 20 times🙄 Incredible athlete, as a passer, really shakey. His arm is a long term project to get him with a consistent appropriate base, getting his arm slot and release point where it needs to be etc. He over compensates soo much for his bad mechanics you cant really say how good his velocity will be when he/if he gets it all corrected. Hes one of the wildest passers ive ever seen. But his athletic ability is soo special (especially for a qb to have that kind of quickness/cod speed) that he could be a 3rd stringer in the cfl. He could be the goal line qb / holder and run some wildcat/option stuff. That worked real well for us in 2001. You cant let up then just hammer back down on the throttle.
-
Its practically a pre season game, hes been in practice for what 4 weeks? last year we started streveler day 1. Nothing wrong with have a guy wet his toes in limited action in a game with no standings implications. Not to mention we also lost our short yardage qb, our holder etc and of the three he has a running qb skill set. Its him or mcguire in those situations, who also has not done it in the cfl. Not like you can ask collaros to do it.
-
The game still has meaning and going into the play offs on a win against calgary, when we will play calgary is a hell of a lot better then going into calgary having lost to them twice in a row. Blue n gold till im dead n cold.
-
And he probably wants to play more then any one sat.
-
agree Fenner is a great tackler but I feel like he isnt corner material.
-
Fenner wasnt soo hot either. hes been beat deep like a red head step child this year. Sitting Streveler is smart. My expectations couldnt be lower for Collaros. I hope mcguire gets a quarter. Id also love to see knight get in for some of the streveler package.

After soo many years and soo many pieces if we dont have what he needs by now he requirements are too high.

Itd be cool to see it happen in the GC winners market, or maybe in the market where the next GC will be hosted. Itd be cool if the GC being in a city meant several cfl league events in that city that year.
