  1. And most of the guys in these leagues aren't even former ncaa failed stars. It's mostly guys who never lived up to potential.
  2. So the usfl drafted a db under contract with the stamps. They claim to have rectified this after the fact. But now the db is mad at the Stamps for not letting him go. The usfl has put the cfl in a position where they need to take action. The db is under contract to think he should also be eligible for usfl draft is idiotic.
  3. Wouldn't be the first guy to be unsure of what he was signing but it is strange. He was pretty happy to be drafted soo high by the Bombers. He'd easily get twice up here what he'd get down south. More impact full is them drafting cfl players. Even low interest guys make a critical contract precedent. Idk the guys picked but or if they were just free agents or what. But I smell a contract rights court battle.
  4. And moncrief too. And then still added the most of any team at the dead line. The Bombers don't have a bad deal on the books imo. Vs virtually every other team having a bad deal.
  5. 100 percent he has a war chest. He always socks away cash for tc nfl cuts and the pr expansion. They always are conservative with funds early in the off season. It's very rare to see a good deal come out of the first few weeks of free agency.
  6. I'd love that to be the case. And I can see them kicking tires on remaining guys like huff if cheap. But in the end I think they like blake and McKnight a lot.
  7. Yeah Its a little surprising, but he is very young (iirc just turned 25 and wouldve started this year in the nfl if not suspended). Maybe they feel he just needs a second chance? I believe we had him on the neg list since college I'm sure they have his character well scouted. He's very much lawler esq physically. He does show a lot of YAC ability though, and is a down field guy. A lot of over the middle catches with out breaking stride. With that and the blocking, he's got some similarities to darvin adams too. Doesn't have the top speed of adams but has tremendous balance and body control. With the ball in his hands he looks like a KR or a rb, soo much that he got some jet sweet stuff in college. Could be a boundary wr, or a SB. With his route running and willingness to play over the middle if he can master the waggle he'd be dynamite in the slot. Generally it takes a year or two for rookie wrs to find their stride but he has as good a chance as any imp wr. Simmons, Jackson, and Mcknight should have a great battle in camp.
  8. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/TJ-Simmons-WR-WestVirginia Sounds like exactly our prototypical wr. 4.59 at the combine, 4.55 pro day, fast time of 4.46. 10' broad jump, 32" vert, 13 reps. Not an insane athlete, but a tremendously polished well balanced athlete. Transferred from the crimson tide to WVU which is still a good school. 4 star player out of high school top 5 in alabama, cut his teeth in college playing teams which is always great to see in an imp wr. He was suspended once for violating covid rules with a bunch of team mates. Tyrique Mcghee was a guy the rams really liked, but was suspended twice in a short period of time. Once for PEDs once for stimulants. He was a 3 star prospect who immediately became a starting DB.
  9. https://3downnation.com/2022/02/21/blue-bombers-sign-for-nfl-players-t-j-simmons-tyrique-mcghee/ Bombers sign a couple of very promising imps, 1 wr 1 db.
  10. Adams hasn't been much of piece in our offense for 3 years. Elingson would've passed 1k in a regular year with ease despite the 2nd worst offense and qbing in the league. Ellingson replaces Lawler. We probably replace adams internally though a couple guys are still kicking around. Bryant would be sick but I'm not holding my breath.
  11. This is a very interesting point. I don't instatwittergram so idk but I haven't seen any post shared the places I've seen other guys. Stove also didn't. But Lawler broke into the league here became a star and like you said the team had his back in a tough time. Maybe he wasn't happy with the teams offer but still strange. I loved what Lawler did but with Ellingson I don't think we will miss a beat. If Blake Jackson is healthy this year I think he could have a year similar to Bailey last year. Hoping Meredith comes back some decent depth wrs still kicking around and a new crop of young talent for camp.
  12. Yep. Not soo much his time but that he wasn't going to be a starter ever. I'm glad he has a tremendous career to fall back on. Good dude not every one can succeed.
  13. For a pure cfl rookie he did really well. Far better than McGuire with much less. At this point he's a good 2 to 3 qb in the cfl.
  14. As far as I'm concerned Harris is and will always be a bomber. When he retires this whole mess will be forgotten and I can't wait to see his name go up on the ring. I don't think that or him going into the hall as a bomber changes. What happened between him and the mafia stays between them imo. It was time to move on. With the money required go retain augustine and Brady plus at this point in their progression they are ready to start and need significant reps. This is going to be the best position battle in camp if both stay healthy. Hoping that a dual back rotation wins out early on. If Harris came back for a cheap deal it'd have been great for this year but hurt us in the long run. We'd probably lose borsa hurt the development of Brady and auggy and still leave us with a very expensive back field.
  15. If he gets Lawler touches he did.
  16. It's not by any means the only reason or a big part of it. That's why edm gave him away for virtually nothing. They saw him as a very low upside guy. No one was sad in edm when he was given away for Magic beans.
  17. Nichols started frequently in edm. They pushed him back down the depth chart because of low yard production and frequen 2 and outs despite enough to win most starts. Jyles was never starter material in this league. Collaros didn't find his game under plop. He stayed healthy and had an ol to keep him up right. The difference between his play under plop and buck is night and day. It's not that they can't produce enough to win in it. And it's not just his system. He isn't a qb coach. He doesn't develop their skills at all. Yes his system hides diffencies like not be able to throw down field but that's how you prevent improvement. Hiding weak spots limits growth.
  18. That is true too. Though I don't feel like that's normal. Most offenses are better and red zone td passes. But for years our red zone is get deep enough to push it in behind that great ol.
  19. Does any one think he actually makes it as a db? I say he plays 4 or less games with a 50 percent chance he doesn't start 1 game at db.
  20. I gotta feel like he wants to come back to Winnipeg but who knows things change with years money and opportunity speaks volumes. We've lost plenty of guys since 19. I would love to see strevy back. If the nfl doesn't work out I feel like it'd be as good a fit as any team.
  21. Yeah seems like it'd be a great fit but idk if the money is there for him.
  22. His running style reminds me of jessie lumsden, especially when he'd play us. Idk who that team is right now though. Would be a smart move for BC, especially since their ol still sucks but they have dangerous wrs. But they seem all in on going ni at qb. Edm has like 6 guys on the roster, 2 are locks and a 3rd blue chip prospect. Stamps are locked in on maier and blm, Ott is all in with masoli, mtl isnt biting with harris and vaj, ham isnt either. Tor has 4 guys locked in including crazy kelly and crazier MBT. They also brought in pipkin as kind of a vet. But they have the right coach imo. They have various offensive weapons and a willingness to hand out money that doesnt make sense. Still, Streveler would have to be going in as a back up and not expect a big base salary or bonus. Ssk, I hate this thought but at first glance the logistics look good. They have 2 guys, and 1 former nfl draft pick qb but no legit back up. Strevy could run the same packages as fajardo, if he went down they wouldnt have to adjust any thing. The issue I see here, other than strevy going to the durpside and again accepting a role as a back up with limited money available, is CF him self. I dont think he'd be happy at all if the riders signed Strevy fresh off the NFL to back him up. Thats too much like competition. That just leaves us. I dont see any one at this point giving strevy the lead of a team and an offense suited to him this year.
  23. Signing bonuses are, but not all bonuses are. Lots of guys have incentives from roster based to production based which arent guaranteed. Lots of bonuses are based on being on the roster on X day.
