Better not be ZC. I would love to pick the bones of the argos though. Send a couple picks, back up canadian neg lister maybe more n get a QB (with a pulse) and walker.

The lack of any good HC and the demand of multiple teams that will be hiring. Would you prefer Doug berry? Tim burke? Claybrooks? I can see the position where the team would make that move, not the move I would make but I could understand it a bit. And like I said, his play calling is the problem. Not his play book and his player coaching is actually very good. I wonder if Mike Riley would be interested in making a return to the blue. Dont think he snagged another job since leaving the AAF. If we do end up hiring a new HC in the off season, its gonna be real slim pickings.

I could possibly see him getting a bit of a pass with onus being put on the front office for not getting a QB that can win the big game. But still very true. yep. and the coach that rebuilds the franchise into a respectable out fit is not automatically the one that will win you a championship.

Chicken or the egg. Before Ritchie we made terrible talent decisions that kept great players off the roster. remember when we chose reggie slack over anthony calvillo? But yes, great coaches generally benefit more from great players then vice versa. Though some times, like joe montana and the 49ers offense, they benefited much more from having the west coast offense and bill walsh.

Its not so much losing the touch, as prospects and the game change. he doesnt seem to have kept up to date. I doubt he is ruined, but he is damaged goods right. Itll be tough for him to get his next GM job in the cfl. I could see him taking a lesser role.
-
That blind side hit came more then a year ago. His career is the walking dead. Its over, but he still lingers around. No he cant last 3 games. Little on be productive in those games. He is the worst choice available.
-
What the bombers do depends on whose available. You have to have access to some one you think is better then mos if you want to replace him. It looks like we will see a lot of jobs and not a lot of proven coaches. And we will have a core too good to tear apart and rebuild (a process that often gets that same coach fired the next year) but difficult to take the next step with.

Its not even just a snap re action. After soo many poorly reffed games drawing power dips. For a huge amount of cfl patrons it becomes a question of NHL pre season, or clf games. And when the quality of cfl games is dropped due to bad refs, you make it easier and easier for more people to tune into pre season NHL, nba etc.
-
I think that sentiment is held by fans league wide. You see those guys reffing a game and just groan.

2 very different levels of desperation. Its like going from, old but serviceable to defiling that cactus seems like a good idea... If trade for collaros im cancelling my season tickets next year, and going back to listening to the games on OB cant watch that. 🤢
-
True but he also needs to be protected. Especially the way he runs and with the lack of success he had running vs ssk.
-
I dont mind plop as a HC. If he could keep his hands off the play call and let an OC do the job hed be fine. But I doubt he could.
-
He did, just not in a dogs age. Im kind of surprised pinball is again stepping into the argos front office. I always thought more of him as a coach then a scout. Im betting since pinball isnt the coach and they have established the top half of the regime, they will target MoS as their primary target in the off season. I really think that if you are gonna go with Masoli, you gotta use a hamilton heavy style of offense. I dont see him doing well in a traditional cfl offense.

The point was its 2019 not 1990 and that Mos way of coaching is how its done now. And that the cause of our success back then isnt repeatable and wont be again.
-
Youre trying to evaluate apples to oranges. The system you run, isnt remotely similar to the one we run. Ours doesnt flatter wrs, darvin adams would start for you 100%. He would also be the only wr you have that blocks at a high level. Inaccurate. Ball distribution and design.
-
Football will never be close to that again. PI in 1990, would be an idictable offence today. The way they coached back then would be too. The program is the teams strength and weakness. In order to take the next step, the program has to evolve and grow. Right now, it hasnt changed at all since mos took over. Do players sign here because of mos? Maybe a secondary factor. Players sign here because its a good team, with good support, and they pay good money. A player coach is a fringe benefit to most guys.
-
He had very few pass options to score in the redzone. He was trying to throw passes to score and we had 1 guy in end zone which makes it easy for the secondary to cheat. QFT. And the run plays werent even good. If we gave him some power toss, counter traps, shovels etc he would have won the game for us with ease. TBH, I would take him as a 3rd / 4th qb in the nfl in a heart beat. Hed be the guy to hold on kicks, run the goal line package, and be the scout team QB when prepping for mobile QBs. That alone, is enough to keep him employed. That said I dont think he will get the attention coming out of this year to get that role down south. I dont see him playing his way into a big contract right now, and that is a good thing for us. Itd be great if he was, but we want to keep him and keeping him fairly cheap at this age is pretty great long term. When given the limited time to throw the ball down field, hes shown he can do it with authority. He isnt ricky ray, but hes a pretty good passer for a running qb. And that is a tremendous value as a back up. especially at reasonable back up qb money.
-
It inflates his attempts for sure, but the lack of OL and depth makes it harder to continually gain yards. When the D knows you are dropping back to pass every snap, they are coming for you like that dont when you have a run game, and defenses are a lot more aggressive when they know your D cant keep their O off the field. So it goes both ways. The fact hes producing with a poorly run offense and a brutal ol speaks for it self. he doesnt make a colossal amount of mistakes, he makes the mistakes you would expect from a volume passer throwing down field a lot. Similar to reilly and others. As for plop adjusting to him, yeah thats a problem. But last year we saw management step in with the defensive scheme and play call openly when it was an issue. We could see the same thing with plop.

In the stands, fans always think the refs suck. I think it really hurts the TV product though. As you can clearly see stuff in replays etc. In one plays tsn crew were talking about fajardo escaping but you see jake thomas two hand pushed in the back before fajardo spins out. That looks awful and hurts the tv market, which is big money.
-
Depends on the shape ricky ray is in. He could be that guy.

First, this is not a scapegoat for the bombers losing. Im a firm believer the refs do not win or lose games. Even if they get a key call wrong, you have 100 other chances to win the game. Not making one of them count is how you lose. Riders beat us, not the refs. With that out of the way, the reffing in the riders game was atrocious. Holding calls have been a problem for a while. Mainly that you will see guys get mugged, and no calls will be made then randomly in the 4th quarter one team will start getting a bunch of holding calls. In this case I think we got more of the benefit from those in this game. But saw horrid no calls again through the main body of play. Blind side blocking, and blocking to the back of an opponent. For some reason the refs just didnt call it. I saw Purifoy make 3 illegal blocks on our kick cover team in a row on rider returns. Pushing guys in the back as they pursue the returner causing them to miss tackle opportunities. Usually the refs are on point getting these calls this year. But two of the times a ref was looking right at the play and didnt throw the flag on clear illegal blocks. Saw targeting the head (twice of harris) on downed opponents not getting called, and too much after then whistle junk. The refing this year has taken a bigger step back then ive ever seen. Week to week, game to game, no matter what team you watch play or cheer for the refs have been sickeningly poor. I think holding can be adjusted to make it easier on the refs and the game to call consistently. Some thing like have two tiers for the penalty, if its really bad then call the full penalty. If not, call a 5 yard penalty that is added onto what ever the out come of the play is. Maybe have it be a steeper penalty each time the team takes a holding call in the same drive. Either way, I hope the league looks long and hard at it in the off season.

A healthy 2017 nichols might give us more of a shot then we have had this year. The hard truth is, with out coaching to win (including play calling) instead of coaching to not lose, you dont have a good shot to win a championship.

The riders adjusted, lapo did not. Its his job to adjust and have wrinkles as well to counter the riders adjustments. Just like he should have in place to counter when teams crash down on the screen passes and short passes. And when play gap elimination against our run game. The answer was to roll out more, stretch the field laterally and that exposes the gap in the contain defense the riders were playing. Also running off tackle, counter trap, shovel pass, etc. The riders crashed down hard on the stand still screen passes (which suck any way) and ran them as if we had woli in blocking when we didnt. When a team is crashing down that hard, you can run pump and go on a fake screen for an easy big play. Some thing we havent done with plop at all to the best of my memory. Its his job to have wrinkles and counters to the other teams strategy, and to use the pieces he has to the best of their ability. He didnt do either or come close to it. Another year, another of the same threads. Was Hall ever fired btw? Threads like this are just yelling into a hurricane.

Yeah If we were gonna try n dig up a qb from the graveyard, glenn wouldnt be the guy id go to. I think alot more people would be happy on here if we made the argos trade davis sanchez "leaked" though
