Sam williams looks like a Sam linebacker https://www.hudl.com/video/3/6010150/58364b4d5b3cb00064f8645f https://www.cfl.ca/players/sam-williams/163338/ Looks like he had a cup of coffee with the riders.

Imagine if fjardo gets knocked out of this game? Rider fans would be calling for the life of every first born in manitoba.
-
Yeah possibly. Though the way we were blowing the lead in that 4th quarter Im not sure any lead was safe.

I expect fgs around 35 yards to be made 90% of the time. Short of crazy weather. 40-45 yards 70% or more (the westwood career average for all fgs) beyond 45 yards? Iike you said its a bonus. That water mark has certainly gone up in medlocks era. A lot. I would still take him over any kicker/punter in the league. Guys can kick it crazy hard these days. You can find guys who hit 80 yarders in practice. (no gear, long run up, no rush) Leg strength isnt an issue with kickers these days. Accuracy is becoming harder and harder to find. More athletes are becoming kickers and less players are dedicating them self to the craft of high level kicking and punting. Kicking and punting has a higher skill cap then ever, and medlock is among the best. I would ride or die with him till his leg falls off.

Or threads like this. Bandwagon jumpers are what they are. Loved that game.

At this point with no one else talking about it at all im calling BS.
-
I see where you are coming from with that, in this case I dont think theyd tow the the line. Any confirmation of any sort on this yet? Im bout ready to chalk it up to being un true.

A guy who is 23 with 0 pro snaps vs guys who have won games and been anointed a teams starter. Only way I think he takes the snaps is if the other qb was brought in mid week and we played end of that week. After a full week of practice and playbook study, the vet plays. Other wise, knight would be the 3rd string qb. As he could sub in for the streveler packages. Another point towards getting one of these guys is both mbt and franklin have held for kickers. (we really are stretched thin right now with streveler being the every thing guy)
-
If some thing happened to streveler, mcguire wouldnt be the guy to go in over mbt or franklin. Depth chart or not.

2 cfl teams signed him 9 (yes freaking 9!) nfl stints, leads the league in TD passes by 4 in 12 games, 4th in passing in the league while every one infront of his has played more games, with the worst OL, run game and maybe coaching in the league, but yes he has no positive attributes as a pro football player. 🙄 Hes lacked experience for his age to this point of his career. But hes also taken no wear and tear. And has performed this year. He is big, a strong a athlete, with a great arm, good accuracy, and great release. He is especially good at tossin deep balls. He is not an elite qb. But he is a legit starter in this league.

QFT producing behind that OL is amazing.

Id rather have eli behind center taking snaps

The only way I would trade for zach is some of wade millers belly button lint in exchange for zach and a draft pick. Zach is instantly cut and the argos gotta come collect the lint them self. Even then, im pretty iffy on doing that. I would take either as the qb2 for the rest of the year. MBT would be who i prefer. Meh, we've had lots of nut balls and off the wall characters in the past I dont see why we should stop now. Plenty of all praise be to flying spaghetti monster types. As long as the voices keep sayin toss tds im good with it. Plus Id rather our management be the type to take a risk on a crazy qb, then have a crazy management that thinks trading for zach is a good idea. A young qbs confidence is easily crushed. And it can be easy to have a guy seem far better then he is when playing in the right system. Weve seen tons of qbs in every league and level excel for a short period of time only to be exposed once teams have enough footage. Id still take franklin as the 2nd guy. Wouldnt pay a high price but Id be happy for him to be our no2 and push streveler.
-
He has, but coming back from an awful position will effect your tackling. And when arguable the best tackler in the league is slipping, coaching is doing a poor job. I do believe that if he was being used as he was last year we'd see a different performance. If he was used like he was last year we probably win 2 or 3 of the games weve lost too. If either side of the ball was coached aggressively to the last play, we may be un defeated. Any chance we can air lift in some coaches from down south??
-
Jeffcoat had 2 pressures and a strip sack forced fumble, and 4 tackles. Thats not exactly invisible... Bighill isnt struggling hes being used very poorly.
-
That happens in the cfl more then youd think. With guys who sit out and come in having not played in a long while. Like bailey, grant and lawler for instance. No rb is taking a spot or significant touches away from harris. Not if we had the 2nd and 3rd best backs in the league.
-
Calgary seems to be bringing in guys to play right away, while we are trying out guys for next year. Its the same thing we do every year under this administration.
-
Iirc under missick we had a 2 year record for turn overs, when he left and younger took over the turn overs dropped off heavily each year. Previously It seemed like we could find and develop DBs that fit our system easily. Now it seems far tougher.
-
Mostly agree. Though I think/hope that ott is gonna go all in on Masoli. Itll be interesting to see if jennings and davis ever hold a clipboard again in this league after this year. Im expecting not.
-
It would be interesting to see. Yeah in a certain camp of fans only wins count, even if they arent produced at all by qbing. We still enjoy the best average starting field position in the league, but it has declined a good bit recently. Whats an even bigger deal is missing harris, then going away from running with him last game. Plus the kids gloves playbook streveler was playing with up until we fell deep behind against hammy. For streveler to be effective we have to maintain the runs with harris, and let him stretch the field deep. Let more of his runs come from when the defense is deep down field covering wrs and he has room to do some damage with his legs. Less QB draws up the gut.

I think this team is going to be making changes in the off season, and I think itll be plops head on the block. Maybe hall too. I suspect nichols will be back on a shorter deal, with less money. Maybe an incentive laden deal. Which I would prefer over bringing in masoli on similar money. But I could see the upper management swinging for the fences and making a move for a new face. Id say 20% chance that happens.
-
Because he was throwing far less passes a game. Its the same way rider fans used to argue that kenton keith was better then charles roberts with a YPC of 7 vs blinks 5+ in 2.5x more touches.

Whats darvin adams QBR again? 150 ish? Its the ratio of first downs to 2 n outs. Especially in the second half of games. Thats always been the issue. People trying to take single stats and un correlated stats (positional wins, some one please tell me dunigans career w/l. Or damon allens, or any one else for that matter) Completing 70% of your passes isnt the same if you are in a system like reilly was in edm, vs a qb here. Qb rating and TD rate are heavily skewed when youre average field position is 15 yards a head of the rest of the league, and when you lead the league in virtually every rushing category. And the importance of not going 2 and out when your defense is designed to bend but not break is extremely high. Nichols is in a bad spot. He was putting up a lot of tds and wins, then started to skuffle and then will have missed more then half a season. Combine that with the fact that the injured starters will be healthy for next camp, and soo many young qbs looking good the market will be very weak for him . The depth of starters in the league going into next year is very good. Masoli, Reilly, BLM, harris, Evans, Arbuckle, Fajardo, Vaj, MBt, Nichols, and to a lesser extent Streveler and Franklin. Im sure we will see some spreading out of the names, with certain guys chasing starting jobs. Nichols will have missed half of this year, 4 games the previous year, and be 2 years removed from his best season. If you are faced with finding a new starter, basically just ottawa right now, do you go after some one like arbuckle, franklin or streveler with tons of up side or a 34 year old nichols? If you go after nichols or even masoli you want them in combination with one of those guys. Nichols doesnt have leverage. If ott goes for masoli, all of a sudden this is the only open starting job on the market. I think we will see one of the argos qbs moved, the cats embrace evans, and I think its likely the stamps thing out too. Streveler may or may not take the job. But the flourishing of new qbs around the league and hungry vets that missed time this year coming back the league will not be short on starting qbs next year.

You would flip the rotation from thomas rotating in to spell the imp DTs to probably richardson rotating. Same on the end. Youd be cutting one of their reps from around 2/3 of plays to 1/3. Not in all explosion cases but yeah. When he tries to use hecht to vice cover a wr, and he cant keep position on deep routes it isnt the cb/dhbs fault. And it isnt even hechts fault. Both are put in a position to fail.
-
We started one extra NI for an extra DI. So we'd just start the 7. Could be thomas to keep the extra DI. I wouldnt mess with the DL and its rotation though.
