  1. I would have taken Messam as a player in a heart beat. As a head case not so much. In this league as a back up Canadian you have to play teams. And you have to do it well. A starter doesn't need to. Messam was a starter Betts isn't yet.
  2. Two plays for half those yards. While he isn't explosive by any means it's not sustainable. To proclaim him any thing other then what he is a stop gap is a huge leap. Saw too many poor runs. He will be the back up as we don't have any one else, the only time he might get more touches is if we sit the starters in the last game. He isn't spelling Harris based on the last two games or otherwise.
  3. Betts can't play teams, lber, DT etc. It's hard for a back up rotational end to be exceptional just pass rushing. I'm a big fan of Betts, Kongbo isn't the same kind of prospect. Kongbo was the best talent in the league and a steal. Betts could be one of the better nis in the league in a few years. Where as Kongbo could be playing significant minutes in the NFL at that point.
  4. Yeah he hasn't shown more then other back up fringe CFL Ni backs. People love to hype average players who over achieve. Ni rbs who start for years are extremely rare and so so because they still maintain a high level of production. Lacking that highly productive imp RBS are far too easy to find. Augustine is a small less athletic Olivera. And Olivera may not be a starter after Harris leaves.
  5. Gumby didn't soo much play like steveler but he did run alot. And took frightening shots every game yet still lasted.
  6. I doubt it's sustainable yet. But that and more would be sustainable easily if he reaches close to his peak potential. Injuries could be a problem, but that's a coin toss. Some guys play recklessly and last many other play passive and don't. All the new starters this year league wide have had some great games and as many stinkers. But it plants the seeds for a great future of league qbing.
  7. I see us finishing with 13 or 14 wins. Probably split with Calgary at the end of the year. Battle of the third string QBs that day.
  8. He did take a good step forward. But he went from being really bad to sub par. Finding a big Canadian body that can block as a FB isn't hard either.
  9. Calgary twice. I really wanna beat hammy though.
  10. We will already be hard up for play time with bailey when lucky is healthy. Certainly wouldn't take woli Peterman demski or an imp off for him. We use the dual carry threat we just use it with other guys like demski and lucky and we use motion as much as a static two back set.
  11. With out jeffcoat no less.
  12. Yeah this is the deepest kick cover team I've seen. The great thing about those two is even when they don't get the tackle they are in on the play an opening stuff up for others. The top cover guy from each game could be a star in almost any game this year.
  13. If you take out a big catch and one run its a very sub par performance over two games with a great, great run blocking ol and game plan. Plus Peterman and Adams are great blockers too. Augustine has more carries for 3 Or less yards then any other out come. We were constantly in second and long over both games. With Harris he'd a averaged 100 plus yards rushing alone and more catching. Augustine is slow to read blocks slow to hit the hole lacks speed or significant power. He's a good tough player. Great we a third string RB but that's it right now.
  14. Yep. You di one guy and rotate a lot.good problem to have.
  15. I love the two back set with two guys who can run. I'd rather see Harris at FB depth with a faster guy like demski or lucky etc as tail back. Augustine isn't nearly good enough at blocking to be the second back. Olivera still leaves Augustine off the roster next year. Peterman on the other hand was fantastic as usual. Can't say enough about his game.
  16. Augustine was average over all and a lot of sub par runs. He isn't taking carries away from any one any time soon. Harris is the best in the league.
  17. Walby was great too. And imo when sports net had CFL games they had the best camera work.
  18. Thrilling game. The wave was especially awesome even though like 4 rider fans participated. Some good rider fans on the bus in and out though
  19. Bailey had a great game. Streveler as our primary runner is scary. Augustine had a big play again but again other wise looked slow hitting the hole. A bit better in pass pro though. Harris can't come back soon enough.
  20. 1 streveler. Some hard gutsy runs for first downs big and small passing plays lead the team to a win. 2 WJ monster game again. The whole dl especially the inside had big games too. 3 Rose with a big pick saving points Hh grant TD return to really step on the throat.
  21. Insane. And whats worse is that kind of thing only encourages more, and retribution. Shame on the league.
  22. All the new starters have had monster games this year. But some people are stuck in the mind set of not being able to recognize any thing greater then mediocre.
  23. I love demski and think he can be a great dynamic play maker. But He would be better served in a rotational package role rather then a starter. Especially now when he could be taking a decent chunk of RB reps. Petermann is like jamie stoddard, with an imports athleticism and wade millers heart, and toughness. We need to get him involved before he decides to go some place he will get used as a FA.
  24. He has such a great repoire with cody I cant see him being the odd man out. With a young novice starting QB chemistry with a WR is huge. Just like woli was for streveler last year. That would indeed be an issue for them.
  25. Right? I mean how do you expect to draw in good coaches when you treat them like that? They have some talent on the ol but holes. And no continuity. You cant buy that, you just gotta take your lumps and let guys grow into a unit. Idk how chiu has done as an OL coach. And he isnt some random ncaa/hs that no one knows. Hes been coaching ol in the cfl for like 5+ years, he was a great player and iirc a leader in the PA etc. Hes played with and coached with half of the front offices in the league. This is how you end up like Reed in montreal, where you cant attract good in league coaches and have to rely on in experienced cfl coaches. Agree, though im hoping for the best. If he did get canned in edm, he would be employed else where im sure. His rope hasnt run out just yet. Though coaches with him never have long term staying power. Idk about claybrooks following him but I can certainly see lapo in ott and claybrooks being sent packing. Dont think campbell runs out of leash just yet as a HC either. A dark horse, if lapo is a FA idk or as a semi promotion to ast gm or w/e, I could see him ending up in Montreal with his old protege Khari Jones.
