We need some one in the back field who can block, a better game plan and better tackling at three second level.
-
The multiple holding calls on us and misses against them was infuriating. He did similar to what Nichols does. Enough to win but not enough to carry to a win. The play calling was poor most of the game that suicide pa screen for instance and Augustine's pass pro was awful.
-
1 WJ. Tons of pressure again today. 2 rose huge pick and two big break ups 3 lawlers 4 big catches. TD and two big first downs HH Augustine's 55 yard run
-
Next man up approach and an angry bomber team rallying around it's missing leader with a bounce back game from streveler. 27-9
-
Other teams run their offense through a RB too and can still put up 4th quarter first downs...
-
It's both qb and oc. The problem isn't one dimensional. No wr is gonna look great in our system.
-
Not his fault but yes. I can see him nominated possibly but he wont win sadly.
-
he would start for more then a few teams first year. Its an investment thing. its not perfect but i bet he bounces back if he plays LD,
-
Youre right as well. Though I think he was upset at becoming the interim HC its no excuse. You can hide that as a CO or position coach, cant do it as a HC.
-
yup.
-
Nichols isnt more mop then harris. But the right harris to lead the mop race isnt trevor.
-
No not that big, only if the team is running a 3-4. Plenty of pass rushers in the nfl in the 255 range. He would probably be a jack lber though.
-
Was likely earning 100-150k imo. As speedflex pointed out between his time on the IR and release we probably save about half his contract, so yeah 50-75k. Which is about 1 first year contract for an imp. Put together a couple savings, like if nichols misses 6 games, nuefeld probably on the ir all year etc and we probably will save an easy 200k.

Sacks arent a metric of success or failure for an OL. Its like batting average in baseball. For old/lazy people. You have a strong mobile qb who can and does avoid a lot of sacks. How has bond done since then? Oh right hes maybe the best OL on the best pass pro team in the league. With the leagues leading passer. Go look up the hurries. Bond was a stud here, and is a stud in edm. He wasnt a stud in sask because the line wasnt good, and you tried to use him as a tackle. 360 pound tackle in the cfl! 🤣
-
Pretty much. Seemed like he over valued him self on the open market and after waiting we came together for a low risk high reward move. Didnt work out, and nows the best time to move on.
-
Or how they cant pass up a chance to glad hand them self for being the center of the CFL. The RR fanbase attitude is the exact same as the "toronto is the center of the universe" group. Talent instantly recognizes genius where as mediocrity knows nothing higher then it self. The rider fan base, and their flunkies know nothing higher then them self.
-
No bond and dennis where not put in any kind of position to succeed. It has nothing to do with the fans. I mean, you think the fishbowl of regina is any fraction as intense as Hs or colleges down south? It really isnt. Poor management of talent is all it is. I mean they signed the best guard in the league and tried to make him play tackle on a bad OL. And both the management and fans thought those one signings would take bad OLs and make them great over night. Thats not how it works. It took a while before we had a great OL even with bryant locking down blind side tackle.
-
Or you win. winning is the only stat that matters right? 😛
-
Yeah, the fact he is the size of a big WLB and was subbed out for every heavy set was sad. Mathews isnt the guy who will blow past and be wide open alot, cfl defenses are designed to prevent that these days. Hes the type to make contested catches and push through db tackles. And in our system, its going to be extremely rare for a guy to run open. Dbs can cheat and watch the qb since we arent going to actually toss deep often. They can afford to give up a step we arent going to call them on a tight window deep shot.
-
Yeah he will be 29 for next year and probably too old to get a look down south short of a 20+ sack year or some thing crazy. Lots of young big athletic DEs come in every year down south. Be we well poised to keep willypeg going for years to come.
-
I considered bighill but it was one year down south wasnt it? Nichols and jefferson kinda mid tier. Any one in the NFL for a year is making a couple years worth of jeffersons salary + bonus money and a year of nichols. Id wager the amount lucky has made in football makes 98% of the rest of the team look like they work for peanuts.
-
hmm Id put money on him or whitehead. Both im sure qualify for the NFL pension when they retire.

Ricky collins jr likes this post. We dont have the type of offense that makes a lot of wrs look good. Weve seen a lot of talk about the canadian mafias ability to bring in wr talent, but the issue as long been our use of wr talent. We dont stretch the field aggressively, we dont do design for smooth catch and run, and we dont target individual Wrs or supply a high volume of passes to our best wrs. We toss dump off passes at a short to intermediate range, under coverage and force the wr to try to back up field and break a tackle or make some one miss to pick up enough yards for first down. And since the opposition secondary doesnt worry about the deep toss they are often facing the wrs meaning you cant lead them too much to run under the ball and that they will start tackle momentum with a good angle. When plop and the mafia came in we didnt have the offensive weapons to do much. But that hasnt been the problem for a while. The blame is shared in similar amounts with plop and nichols, with the management taking some as well for not stepping in. Allowing the success weve had to be enough rather then taking the risk for more. Plop hasnt adjusted, gotten nichols to develop and expanded our passing offense. He hasnt set out to make use of our weapons. Hes used demski in the jet package, but he was trying every one in the same stuff before. He hasnt tailored plays and set focuses on using the weapons especially lucky. Other then the odd screen pass or being the jet. Same old stuff with new faces. Nichols hasnt shown the ability to hit guys in stride when the opportunity presents it self, and floats deep passes leaving wrs coming back. Though his deep ball was seemingly improved and good enough to do more with. Its the chicken and the egg, doesnt matter which comes first we just gotta break the cycle. If I am any cfl vet FA wr, this is the last team i want to sign with. Especially if coming back from an NFL try out. The numbers you get in our offense isnt going to get you another look down south or a bigger contract up here either.

If we use more demski out of the back field and petermann at his spot thats a pretty good look for two weeks.
