Ricky collins jr likes this post. We dont have the type of offense that makes a lot of wrs look good. Weve seen a lot of talk about the canadian mafias ability to bring in wr talent, but the issue as long been our use of wr talent. We dont stretch the field aggressively, we dont do design for smooth catch and run, and we dont target individual Wrs or supply a high volume of passes to our best wrs. We toss dump off passes at a short to intermediate range, under coverage and force the wr to try to back up field and break a tackle or make some one miss to pick up enough yards for first down. And since the opposition secondary doesnt worry about the deep toss they are often facing the wrs meaning you cant lead them too much to run under the ball and that they will start tackle momentum with a good angle. When plop and the mafia came in we didnt have the offensive weapons to do much. But that hasnt been the problem for a while. The blame is shared in similar amounts with plop and nichols, with the management taking some as well for not stepping in. Allowing the success weve had to be enough rather then taking the risk for more. Plop hasnt adjusted, gotten nichols to develop and expanded our passing offense. He hasnt set out to make use of our weapons. Hes used demski in the jet package, but he was trying every one in the same stuff before. He hasnt tailored plays and set focuses on using the weapons especially lucky. Other then the odd screen pass or being the jet. Same old stuff with new faces. Nichols hasnt shown the ability to hit guys in stride when the opportunity presents it self, and floats deep passes leaving wrs coming back. Though his deep ball was seemingly improved and good enough to do more with. Its the chicken and the egg, doesnt matter which comes first we just gotta break the cycle. If I am any cfl vet FA wr, this is the last team i want to sign with. Especially if coming back from an NFL try out. The numbers you get in our offense isnt going to get you another look down south or a bigger contract up here either.
-
If we use more demski out of the back field and petermann at his spot thats a pretty good look for two weeks.
-
We signed a guy. not a vet. But a guy.
-
Im sure he hoped he would. And im sure he will when he lands else where. But plop isnt going to target any wr to get 10 catches a game. Other then harris on check downs and swing passes. And thats what matthews needs. More likely with the money he is making and the nearing vet contract guaranteed day coming up that it didnt make sense to lock him in to that kind of money while sitting.
-
We just can't win when signing a vet wr. Way she goes. Maybe the writing was on the wall when it was always him coming out on heavy sets.
-
The value of none padded practices for rbs is meh as well. Not really no. All the rbs have had full TC, and 10 weeks of practices. RB is really plug n play.
-
Sure, but sam is the hardest spot to play in defense and that is allready thin AF what happens if some one goes down in game. We badly need the hemorrhaging to stop at db. Its the thinnest spot we have right now.

The riders have become the redsox of canadian football. Back before they broke the curse of the big bambino they were a generally well thought of group league wide. Every one had their favorite team, and every ones second favorite team was who ever was playing the yankees. Post streak snapping they turned into the loud mouth Dbags and supplanted the loathed yankees and their fans as the least liked in baseball. Suddenly the riders fanbase regards them selves as the yankees of the cfl. On social media, in person, and on forums they chant about our drought when the average gap between their grey cups is similar to our worst ever drought.

At the end of the day, fans gonna be fans. The riders organization and fanbase isnt the one to take a moral high ground after all we say in recent years under jones. If you pissed hot in the nfl and got cut that pretty much made you top of his list. And to be frank, thats ok. But you gotta own it. Cant have it both ways. This is a critically sad case of contaminated supplements. But great teams dont get beat by the breaks. The rise above, next man up no excuses. I still expect to see a split. Its a huge trap game for the riders with soo many bombers hurt. The team, and especially line would run through a brick wall for harris and I think they are gonna play their best and nastiest on LD. We have a LOT of possible runners at any given time, and many of them are dangerous. The riders wont know what to game plan for. I also fully believe streveler will have a bounce back game. He may or may not be nubrady. But its very rare for any pro, especially a young guy to follow up their worst game with another bad game. Even if its a return to his average performance as a starter, and he puts up 150-200 on decent efficiency 1-0 or 2-1 with 50 ish yards rushing thats a tough win to get with how the defense is playing.

Im not worried about wil or mac either. Db and sam on the other hand, not a good spot right now. If we had to play some one else at Wil, id go with kongbo. He has the motor to make that work.

Plus Augustine has 17 touches in his 17 career games. 17 touches to 0 is not exactly a huge discrepancy its less then one game for a starting rb in this system. Ill bet santiago had more then 17 touches in TC with the vikings though. Where as Augustine was an UDFA in the cfl. Rb is among the most if not the most pro ready positions. The only advantage Augustine has is his passport. Hes shown enough to get a share of the reps no doubt. And the ability to rotate a NI rb on and send i another imp is great. But the run game is far too important, especially right now, to plunk it square on the shoulders of augustine. We could probably air lift in half a dozen rookies at a moments notice that would all start and keep the run game going if we needed. Santiago has a lot of versatility and is really really dangerous. We kept him around because hes a home run hitter. If he wasnt gonna be the guy to come in there would be no reason to have him around all this time. Wonder what flanders is up to right now actually.
-
You would still have to maintain 8 NIs if he went down. The step down from an IMP wr to petermann is huge. We dont need an extra DI soo bad. You start 7, with the imp rb and rotate through freely.
-
Youre jumping to negative conclusions because of a bias you have for him. He is far better then any one thought he would be coming out, and deserves to be a game day player in this league. He may yet be a starter or better. But its a high risk low reward situation with him right now for us. I do not want to give him for several reasons. The biggest reason is we have no other canadian RB to back him up. If he got hurt ejected etc we would be 100% screwed. While hes shown some good signs in garbage time and pre season, demski has showed far more in far more meaning full minutes, Santiago looked better against the same level of action, and starting him allows us to rotate a lot of guys through for various looks. So no, I dont want to start him because he isnt in the top 3 or 4 rbs on the roster and it would heavily gimp our ratio. Start Santiago, rotate Grant, demski, and whitehead through running plays and 2 back sets. Pick the best 2 and split reps with them with a 3rd rotating through.

The problem is the contamination rate. Unless they are constantly testing every batch its still a big risk. I understand there is a US based manufacturing company that guarantees clean supplements, though im sure its rather expensive.
-
No pro athlete would take what Harris has popped for as any PED. Its like trying to do your taxes on a TRS-80 vs a new pc. I believe what thigpen took was a no name turinabol. The same thing jone jones popped for in the ufc. In a small dose it would help with his weight cut.
-
What happens frequently is the manufacturing companies make legal supplements, and also various PEDs. They use the same machinery and the machines dont get cleaned and switched over well in the switch from one to another. Frequently changes are made and substitutes are used. From supply limitations to cost changes. Because they arent tested or held to any standard, they dont need to waste bottles and boxes and order new stuff with updated labels. This happens A LOT. On the more nefarious side, some companies will copy other more successful companies ingredient lists with out ever using that combination or even any thing close to it. Supplements are an extremely shady industry. The companies all chase the dollar and have them manufactured in the lowest cost areas possible. With that you get these types of issues. The amount of tainted positive tests proven in just MMA in the last 2 years is insane.
-
Id like to see him get a couple reps but i really hope he doesnt start. I want to see santiago start.
-
100% No way did harris take a PED knowingly. Those guys would do any thing for an edge if they thought they could get away with it. This is heart breaking. I wish he was fighting it and would prove it wrong. In the mean time, im guessing rose will start at rb.
-
It'll be sealed one way or another in the next few weeks. If we sweep the riders suddenly a team like ott is alive and well.
-
Yeah with the ending they gotta be questioning that now
-
Mbt looking really good throwing through tight windows and moving the pocket.
-
He heavily implied it though. It's a big improvement from him but still scummy. Implying that the calls had a negative impact on edm is inane. We easily had the worst of the bad reffing. Plus had 8 starters out.
-
If we focus on the zone read option more we won't need much more then screen and short dumps. When we used it last night it tore edm to pieces.
-
I'd love it if we swung a deal and got BB back as our back up qb
