I no longer hold hope that we sign so and so premier pass catcher in FA. If we get one ill be surprised and cautiously optimistic. If we go into the year with lawler, darvin and bailey plus the NIs its still a really good wr core. A good vet with some questions like tasker to push that core would be great. Willy is priority no1 imo if he isnt nfl bound. And keeping money available for nfl guys is important too.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
wbbfan replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Unless its indoor football and not arena style on 1/2 a field. I think the idea of bringing football early is a solid one, IF they played during the NFL season I think their best shot would be on none nfl days. But yeah they dont stand a chance. So if they last 3 years, hes hoping the tv deal 3-4 years after that would pay back his initial investment. What then covers his losses from the first 3 years after the initial, and the next 3-4 while 90% of the income is paying back his investment? Its a 0 percent chance to be flush after 7 years he is banking on. Just insane. How many pro football leagues other then the CFL and NFL have operated for 7 consecutive years? Just the arena league? With no tv money and 10k fans a game? Seems like financial suicide to me. -

He was with MTL, I think on the PR or IR dont think he played. Think he was trying to get an nfl shot too.

At kevin glenns best he beat the rush with his release too. Being able to pull off beating the rush with quick decision and release is one of the hardest things to defend. That and a running qb imo. Wonder if it means demski is taking a smaller role or not gonna be back. Love what JFG brings in terms of heart and work ethic. Always came up big when called upon too. Lyles is interesting. 6'4 4.38 11' broad and 40" vert. If he can be put in a position where he isnt needed to cover solo deep a lot he's a good get. Right now has to be hidden a bit, but could develop better decision making and coverage with coaching, hes still really young.

Good point on montreal. Idk about ottawa though. If any thing they know the value of having 2 qbs. I dont think much of davis or arndt but they may still have some hope for them. Id cut bait and start fresh if i was them though. I hate the thought but jennings could be a target for a few teams looking for vet back up, including us. Dirt cheap, young, and athletic. Hes not streveler athletic but enough to run productively as a qb.
-
Always gotta be looking for the next great young talent at every position. Tackle is a more athletically and mentally demanding position though. We have two of the best right now, but you never know when its all over. And I wouldnt blame bryant in the least if he didnt want to play till the wheels fall off.

On a budget deal he'd be a great low risk high reward pick up. Not many teams are really deep at qb as it sits, I could see him going to any team save hamilton/to.
-
If any thing It says that his defense was the reason they were bad. But OL was more puppies then pork too. Sure you throw more the further behind and later the game gets. But you get behind for many reasons. One of the worst Ds, Ols, and run games in the league last year had a bit to do with it. Wonder if we kick the tires on him. Wouldnt mind if he was cheap. I actually like the guy as a player. I was high on him pre draft and think he could get better. Its just if he becomes as good as I think he can be, the contract will at best be ok. An that chance isnt great. The drop off from the elite batch to the second tier like muamba is steep. While the money difference is not. Id put him in the lower to low mid portion of the 2nd tier of NI D players. Below greenwood, boateng (id rather have judge but I think boateng is a bit better still), laing and unamba. Jake thomas isnt much further down the list from there, and I wouldnt want to give him a huge deal either.
-
Isnt franklin under contract too?
-
Luck is the residue of hard work. Never know what woulda coulda shoulda happened. But with how our D played, its hard to imagine us not winning.
-
Stat that shows he played from behind a lot on a bad team. 3rd in passing yards and 1st in tds. Which considering he wasnt the starter for the whole year is pretty good. Come from behind win on the worst team in the league vs the eventual grey cup champions is worth some thing too. By no means is he an elite starter. But imo he is cemented as a starting caliber qb in this league. Atleast going into TC, any thing can change during the season.
-
If you knocked 90k off that deal itd be a good one. I like judge, I still havent seen that he has what it takes to take his game to that level though. I dont see how he lives up to the contract unless he becomes a premiere defensive ni / lb. I feel like every year the riders have a resigning/pick up that makes you go "They gave how much to who?"

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
wbbfan replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Some talented guys on that list glad they might get a chance to continue playing and maybe recirculate back to the CFL. Was flowers here or did we just hold his neg rights? -
Wonder if we go after Campbell.
-
Thats always the key especially when developing a young qb. Soo many teams will sell the farm to get a qb, then put him behind a ragtag group of misfit olinemen.
-
Im assuming he wont be healthy for the full season next year. I mean in those games where he is healthy with a new play caller and collaros.
-
itll be really interesting to see what our passing offense is like when collaros is healthy. His ability to thread in a deep ball will be huge.
-
Yeah the point was just his physical skills, his intangibles are miles behind his years pro and age.
-
Nah, his accuracy and touch are below average. His athleticism is good but not great. His release and mechanics are average. 31 going on 16 in terms of experience as a starter. Not just a pro starter, a starting qb in general. Hes been a bench squad guy forever.
-
On the deal it self, the big risk is if collaros doesnt play enough games. If that happens, he hits the 6 game and it doesnt count any way. Unless he sits 5 games twice, his salary isnt a concern imo. If streveler does sign and NFL deal then things get interesting. do we make another move to get a vet back up? I dont see them going into camp with collaros no1 and mcguire no2. I also see some retreads on the market I hope we dont touch with a 10' pole.

Sure I have. And mos/walters have not been in sync at times and walters dictates who stays and who goes. -
Idk he is athletic, but not as athletic as streveler. And I dont think his arm talent is as good as mcguire or plenty of other guys. The mental tools and refined skills like accuracy and touch are the deal breakers in any qb.

A coach doesnt build the roster, and the only difference is our nut balls are likable. Your avatar and his bff are both 100% as nutty as MBT. They are just far more likable.
