  1. If every nut ball was shunned from the cfl (or any sport and league) youd end up with the better half of the league gone.
  2. Very different guys. Nelson is smart, tough, and a hard nosed running. North south guy who always gets you some thing positive. Whitehead is lightning in a bottle. He could score any time he touches the ball. He could also fumble, stumble, or completely miss read his blocks and take it out side for little to nothing when he had good yards up the middle. Its kinda like blinks returning vs stokes. But we dont have to pick one or the other any time soon. Both will be in camp and have a chance to make the team maybe even get serious wr reps. They could even both be rostered (though not likely) and split the field. Whitehead on one side forces the cover team to be much wider and leave more lanes for nelson. Some thing we did a good bit last year. Im very happy to have them both in blue too.
  3. Plenty of small schools run big wrs who are much slower then the dbs. And rely on cuts, timing, and catch radius to create rather then pure speed. Both are very similar athletically and physically. The big difference is at this point of development mccallster is far more polished and more of a natural pass rusher then jefferson was. Both are extremely big, long explosive ends. Im extremely happy to have Mccallster back in blue. If willy signs down south, and with kongbo gone Id love to see roh back as well. If either of those two come back though tough decisions will be a foot.
  4. Love good heart and motor hope he goes into camp as the dime
  5. That and we saw a lot more creativity in the front 6/7. WJ coming from all over the field, and dropping back now and then. bighill having a mix of medium depth zones and rushes. And a ton of end alignment play left the cats having no idea where the pressure was coming from or when. The secondary being sorted really allowed them to play with the front a lot more. I think thats too much in base. If they (and i expect they will) bring nichols back its gotta be an incentive laden deal. I think for him to earn 375-400 or more hes gotta start more then 12 games and play in like 14 or more. Not just that, hes a threat to make plays on the ball with speed to cover a ton of space and really really physical in the pass and run game. Loffler was physical in a decent size zone but more on the run then the pass. Hecht was physical in an even smaller zone, BA was as similar to loffler but in a much larger zone. And right away was making better decisions then loffler makes currently. The best S play we saw since Mo went from S to sam. I think he has enough warm fuzzies to shake it off from last year. His performance last year for his experience was phenomenal. Rookies usually face a lot more battering then he saw too. If he sticks in the league for another 2 years hes probably going to be in the elite tier of not the best qb.
  6. He pulls the same junk as often as he can. Wouldnt stop going on about manziel and how right he was after he was kicked out of the league.
  7. He was always knocked as a guy who couldnt win the big game. Even his superbowl mvp with the colts was kind of a defacto qb mvp selection. The combo of rhodes and addai (some un godly combined yardage between the two) and the pick 6 was what won. I dont think it was ever a figured him out thing as much as it was he didnt perform up to snuff in the play offs. the min golden gophers thought he had a future at wr/qb based on his athleticism. Thats not low tier stuff. Prolly more players from sub d1 teams then cfl teams in the nfl right now.
  8. I dont think hes especially over rated, but I also cant think of any one who is extremely over rated. Id put him in lapo territory. Maybe under him but its a toss up.
  9. Theyve seen his athleticism and have tons of tape on it. I would think they are much like draft interviews with some tossing of the ball. More about reading a D, play break downs etc with a chance to see his throwing mechanics up close. No one employs a sellers esq H-back though. A big fb today is 20lbs lighter then sellers in his cfl days. I dont see that roll being a good fit either though. More like a wing back as we use demski if any thing. The nfl does far more micro managing of packages based around play subs.
  10. What a different organization this is from 4 years ago. The canadian mafia had some rough patches but have taken us from the dregs of the league to the pinnacle club (badum tsss) Feels like we have more talent going to nfl camps this year then in the previous 10. Our coaches and front office types are lead candidates for jobs with other teams. I feel like the league as a whole is ebbing in the same direction as well. Tv deal, finally the als have been fixed, less and less cancers in league management/coaching. Great time to be a bomber fan, and a cfl fan.
  11. He doesnt have to be blunt or brutal, but youve gotta be realistic and cant tether the team down.
  12. And a coach at every offensive position plus 2 ol coaches and an ast oc. The passing game co being your db coach is odd too. Feel like that's the growing pains of a rookie hc. Khari isn't delegating responsibility well atleast in title and assignment so far.
  13. I think its grasping at straws. We havent seen any lack of FAs going to those cities. They both have their own +s and -s. Just because their markets have gone full crazy doesnt mean every one else needs to compensate them for it.
  14. It isnt though. The ratio exists to keep the cfl canadian. One position right now is in a blind spot. If we are going to go out side of the core fundamental of the cfl (canadians) weve got to deal with the blind spot. Bridge alone has played in 69 cfl games and has more stats then every global player by a lot.
  15. I dont think it should be forced either. But if we are the CFL, and we are forcing global players on every active roster, we gotta do some thing for NI qbs.
  16. Dont agree with that at all. Its why a rotational player who didnt live up to his hype like kongbo was a top pick. If they were very close in talent and development the ratio would be a none issue. The difference in polish and skill level between a 4 year cis starter and a guy who rotates for 2 years and starts for 1 year in d1 is big at every position. A prolific 4 year starter from a big school is far more skilled and developed then the best cis players ever. The gap has closed from what it used to be, but its still substantial. Virtually any division 1 player with a canadian passport will be taken in the top half of the draft every time. Yes the gap is greatest at qb. The advantage canadians have is a familiarity with the game up here. Which helps early but disappears with experience. Meanwhile the imp qb has far higher potential. But on the other hand, we are putting serious work into developing world players in this league now. And those guys are just as far out as canadian qbs. I think itd be fine to have 1 free PR spot for a canadian qb. They are canadian, if they start they should count against the ratio. Roster a canadian qb, sure get an extra DI. But its not a serious issue. In the last 30 ish years how many times has a team been in this situation? 2 or 3?
  17. Either he didnt have the option and it was fake read option, or he can not read to save his life. It never looked like he was reading the end or any one else on run plays or like the design was meant to create that situation. Charles fischer has some fantastic break downs on read option offense on his site and on his youtube channel. Its basic enough any one can watch a few minutes of video see what the qb is doing and then watch streveler in his package and see its either not read option or its the worst run and coached read option in football at any level.
  18. Yeah that was in place to prevent teams from using a 3rd qb as a DI and having 2 "qbs" on the field at one time. Some ones gonna have to do a deep dive on the rule book to figure out of thats still in place. Not crazy about streveler as a DI with a 2nd qb on the field tbh. Its just too convoluted when we werent even running basic option stuff well. Our option package didnt have any read and actual option play. It was more to disguise the ball carrier and try to get the defense going the wrong way on the snap. Id love to see some real option plays but idk if we have the people to implement it. With streveler (assuming hes back) harris and demski we have enough ball carriers and potential for complexity. Id rather see that focus spent on improving our passing attack to be middle of the pack or better, and with out large gaps in where we can throw it.
  19. Stopped him from moving well in the pocket the last two years. Seems a foregone conclusion that they bring him back I just hope it's not at big money or as a defacto starter.
  20. I wonder if buck will be OC + QB coach. Should be some decent coin saved under the coaches cap. Be nice to pick up another guy to develop. Is markus howell a FA right now?
  21. It wouldn't be the end of the world. Hard to imagine repeating with all the NFL talent lost but the off season is long and many things can change. Nichols plus a first vs collaros is going to be an interesting decision. I think the next thing for the Canadian mafia to work on is a qb that can be elite and dominate. They have the security to invest the time in development now. So I hope McGuire and streveler are back if they can be that guy. And I hope that the youth movement isn't repressed by some one who won't lose games when 100%
  22. The third Jumanji was pretty good. Nice popcorn movie.
  23. Since the chat room problems of the previous season GD chat has been diying. Not being able to ignore in chat makes it worse. Should just roll gdt and dump chat at this point imo. It's almost dead any ways.
  24. BLM isn't the best in the league and didn't look good much of last year. Going the safe vet way is the opposite of what's made this stamps dynasty.
