I do feel like adjustments need to be made to rtp. Maybe all rtp plays should be reviewed by the command center and if a hit is deemed malicious the offending player is immediately ejected and suspended pending review for length. I think it'd have to be a finite type of play to qualify, long after the ball leave qbs hand (think Ed philion hitting khari late) and hook sliding on a run. No excuse to hit a qb or any one in that kind of circumstance.

It's a job for people who can't be trusted to flip burgers yet

I can't even believe It. I had big hopes for the raptors this year but couldn't even imagine this. Soo many thin years, such a huge gamble by masai. Go raptors go!

Its amazing to watch any athlete with such an overpowering singular tool. But especially an incredible arm. Probably my favorite of our bad/not good players. I remember him with the argos nearly being sacked in the endzone, but throwing the ball off one leg falling back onto his butt (not a 45 degree angle but close in my memory) and it flying 70ish yards in a perfect spiral. I think he was just trying to throw it away too. Easily the greatest all around athlete ive ever seen play qb. He wasnt the fastest qb by any means, but he was still fleet a foot. (more straight line speed then quicks imo) Phyiscal strength on par with any qb, including the 270-300 lbs biguns that ran through college and pro football a few years back, and could jump like mad. I wonder if Kerry joseph was similar at a younger age. Though he was a better runner and not as insanely strong. (still preternaturally strong for a qb, and athlete of that size.) He lacked most all the refined QB skills and tools. Too much to ever over come and be even a second tier starter in the cfl. But fun to watch. A quicker version of him would be my perfect QB3.

Sad thing is bishop was the best of a bunch of bad back ups forced to start. I think its too easy to point the finger at QBs though. Especially when most played behind awful ols and lacked weapons / systems.

A few of those guys could really lay the lumber.

My first ever job was working in a truck stop kitchen. I couldn't eat at a restaurant for years after. So i started building for a living. Never have that feeling when I see stuff ive built. Were just hungry for the regular season and news we can sink our teeth into.

I do the burger style farmer sausage patties with a sunny side egg up in a toasted burger bun for breakfast every now and then, deadly good. Love farmer sausage.
-
Never got how farmer sausage ended up being called Mennonite sausage. The jokes in this thread are freaking gold though. 🤣 Worse yet, blind optimism.

Agree 100%. I generally enjoy rippers contributions to the site. Seems like a good guy, passionate cfl fan. He is a rider fan though and we will all find our selves on opposite sides of the fence some times.

QFT. Not to mention it seems Ambroise wields a fraction of the power that Cohen had. I feel like he is as much an ambassador and the whip used by the owners. Not the guy cracking the whip. And I think its a pretty good situation honestly. I feel like the governance of the league has been progressive, firm and more then fair. From personal experience the support and gear representation for the Pistons and Flyers are phenomenal. Also, the owners of the Pistons (Vielfaures) Sold half of the options in their family company this year, for $500,000,000. How many of the sask minor hockey teams have owners with pockets like that?

Thats true. Though I think montreal will be alright with development. I bet he would be the starter by LD in To as well. Eh Hank was the same was for a long time. Damon allens best passing came waaaay past his prime as well. Im not saying he would be a great option, but a whooole lot better then the alternative.
-
Sounds about right. But old qbs can be like that. Big gaps in play and still produce a lot better then guys who have never been pro starters. The gap between Experienced starting qbs and ones with minimal pro experience is one of the biggest in sports.
-
In the modern era, I think the worst was either Kuale or Roc. Roc was burned soo frequently it was insane. Kuale took about the same number of stupid penalties. Especially any time some one else on the D made a big play.
-
Yeah Idk if there is an advantage for him in retiring, But I would stay sharp if I was him. Hes one injury away from starting in this league still. He could be the qb2/3 for 3/4s of the league if not more.
-
Still with the rudders. Though he is deeper down the depth chart now. Yeah he was pretty much thrown into the meat grinder every play. An extra body kind of used like a nose tackle to open things up for other guys. I hate that role / usage in general. Idk about that, but the strength of the 5 Dbs around him and Bighill taking up the middle in front of him is going to make its really tough on QBs combined with that pressure.

🤣 Qb can and will always be a prime contender. I think demski is going to have a career year actually. But if he doesnt stay healthy look out. Ol is a big one too. Continuity is a big issue. WR is always a hot pick here. Weve had great camp performances before and seen a lot of scapegoating wrs. Coaching is the biggest one id add. If we dont excel, plops too passive, Halls defense is too soft, mos is too much of a veterans coach etc. As soon as we lose a game this year I fully expect to see a Bump to either the old when is mos time up? / fire hall threads. Of course the biggest one is the front office / walters. You cut Zach!!!!!! Zach for gm! S is a position where a great player has a huge impact, but any thing less has a nominal impact. The last truly great impact saftey I recall is Mo before he moved to sam. I think in this case its also highlighting the overall strength of the roster. It just makes the existing holes seem larger. Ol continuity is worrying me. And the derek jones behind hecht has been confusing, But I have come to suspect that the reason is Jones can back up at DB and hecht cant. And currently we dont have a back DB on the roster. (also a bit of a concern though we have always run rosters with a lot of LBers and thin depth elsewhere) Yeah, I think he also reported gray felt/seemed rusty. I feel like taking our lumps and growing pains with Gray, speller or desjarlais is well worth it. Doing it with both will be really tough. IF couture takes a step forward though that will help a lot. Gray is the one I like most of the three. But I dont think you can go wrong with any of them.

The days pre salary cap / enforcement were crazy and lopsided. And not in the favor of the prairie teams.
-
And you're the reason why we have a salary cap on coaches now... We've seen what frivolous, over the top spending by teams can do to the cfl in the past. Hense it gets reigned in. Being the only team in such a market with no competition helps, no splitting at all going on. And isn't that based on information that was only released twice in the past 10 years or so? Merchandise sales have diminishing returns over time. Rider fans these days like to complain about limits on spending. But man they do NOT want privately owned teams to be able to unleash hell on the free agent market again. Take the riders highest estimated income for the past 10 years, assume its the average, then double it. Its still peanuts for private owners.
-
I thought he looked better in the pre season too. He wont be terrible thats for sure. He may or may not be an impact player like JSK was but we wont know for sure for a while.
-
All good. I agree its a reach. Its one I kinda get though.
-
Nah that was adr-x. I can see his point, and ive heard they had a great camp and cut some really good players same as us. So I dont blame any one for expecting the stamps to still be the stamps.
-
No doubt they have. I wouldn't bet on them repeating as west division champs in the regular season. But they have a track record for replacing great talent with young great talent. Cant write them off till they are dead and burried. I would be shocked if they dont take a step back this year. (10-12 wins) If they dont, then every team should start poaching the stamps PR and sniping/acquiring back ups and Nlisters as much as possible.
-
Lets be real, no one will be worse then saveface reed until he is finally cleansed from the league. Hervey does seem to be the heir apparent. And Maas.
-
Seems to be right. Did it used to be that you had to start some one you claimed off a PR, or was it always just activate? I feel like the PR system may need revamping a bit in the future, especially with the international stuff that walters talked about in the presser.
