  1. We stretch the field soo well side line to side line and through the running gaps throwing down field and at the seams would be huge.
  2. You play to win the game. Plop in the 2nd half of games play calls to not lose it. You can maintain winning seasons doing that, but you dont win championships that way. Thats how you get run out of town by the same team for a 3rd time.
  3. He cant cover deep. He isnt as athletic as loffler, so he cant cover nearly as much field. But he makes better decisions. But people were flipping their lids early this year at that notion. He started out not being challenged deep, and when you play under him he is good. When you stretch him out hes a weakness. Jones would be better as a true saftey, but Jones has had to be the extra DB this year. Cant ask hecht to cover man to man. If we could start Jones at S, use hecht situationally to his strengths and keep Imp DBs on the roster itd be much better. We really miss brandon alexander right now. Also fenner has been a liability deep. Itd be great if we brought Mo back for a look too.
  4. Kenney is an interesting one. Kicked out of school, very little college play time. But after a few years of sitting made noise in a couple nfl camps. Supposed to be a very effective pass rusher. Meffy is another long tall well built book end. I feel like they must really like these two to bring them in with our DE depth, especially since jeffcoat is close to returning. For knight, very much our pro typical qb target. Good cfl size and strength, great athletic ability, tough football player. Looks like a quick runner, more then top end fast. Younger bryan bennett, but need more work on his throwing mechanics. Interesting long term project, or a guy they are gonna cycle out pretty quick. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/trevor-knight?id=2558267
  5. Same. Kongbo nearly knocked him out of that game too with a hellacious hit. I want to see many more of those on him.
  6. If only we had opened up more deep shots for him. Dude can sling it down field.
  7. Its a sacrifice play mostly with the blitz. Less so with big hill then with our previous MLBers, but they arent designed to get him running free at the qb. They force the interior of the OL to block him with the goal of putting an end either one on one with a back, or block every rusher man to man. Though teams are running more heavy sets again these days. Thats why you frequently see in that package the DL spread soo drastically. With 2 dl over one guard and tackle, 1 dl on the nose shading the same side and 1 way over the opposite edge. It, in theory, forces the OL to either miss BIghill up the middle, or give up and angle on the edge. But it isnt good for containment, especially if 1 OL wins his battle. It would also be more effective if we showed it and dropped bighill more often. And sent bighill on a delay rush.
  8. I did. Was a good event despite the collapse. Some players really bummed out especially at the start. Events like that dont just serve to give favor to the fans, its a good boost for the team too. And they needed it. Bailey and fenners table was very lively. They had some great moments with a couple kids and a disabled fan. Every time some one whipped out the phone half of willys table would pose for pics with fans. Wolitarsky was very talkative and positive. You could tell how hard the loss was for the STs aces. Those guys sell out and bust ass to make a difference, had a rough game and we had a bad loss. But over all it was very enjoyable and up lifting for fans and the team.
  9. I dont think the brain trust will be on the same page. If we have a disappointing end to the season, I think that will lead to changes.
  10. This is the most embarrassing game in the mos era. I feel sick.
  11. Goat horns to plop and hall. For going soo conservative and wasting awful blitzes respectively. 1 Harris 2 streveler 3 DL for shutting down the Al's run game HH to the smash on Adams by kongbo
  12. I cant see Gray riding the bench over Desjarlais if healthy. I assume the scratch will be Eli.
  13. The league needs all revenue from all sources. Teams spend in the mid 20 million dollar range and hope to make 10% of that in profit.
  14. Have you seen attendance the last few years league wide? Tickets are down and revenue is steady. True, but do people spend more money at the rum hut or on tickets? A tooon of people buy cheap seats and never sit down.
  15. I dont think the league is gate driven any more. Id love to see a break down of league revenues, And I wouldnt be surprised to see ticket sales in 3rd spot over all. Team gear is a huge cash cow for the teams with fans. heck, the rum hut could well turn more profit for the bombers then the ticket sales. 😛
  16. Would still be better then the concerts. I miss the super dogs. Even the crossfit thing last year.
  17. This is true, though im not sure that they would enjoy this type of offensive game play vs more aggressive down field passing. I dont really see this being more entertaining then heavy run attacks tbh. If it is, and it means better revenue flow for the league thats good. Though I dont feel like casual fans contribute that much financially long term. I may be wrong on that though. 100%. Its inflation to passing yards and %. Throwing for 5k yards on 60% completion percentage is not nearly same as when it was done in khari jones era. I firmly believe that 90% of player safety concern is about qbs. The way they have allowed pushing and shoving to carry on well after the play un punished, and lack of attention to late/out of bound hits etc is sad.
  18. Thats a big improvement from the era prior.
  19. This is some thing thats been floating around in my head for a while. In the last few years weve seen a heavy shift in the way the CFL game is played. Mainly it rotates around PI. The PI enforcement is soo strict these days most defenses are playing varying degrees of bend but dont break. (some thing that has been a hot button topic around here in Halls era) Because of both of these facts, most offenses are run in the west coast / possession passing scheme. I also believe that Holding on the OL has gone down dramatically over a decade or so, which may be intentional to try to keep qbs safe. This all combines for a pretty intense short passing game bias. We see different wrinkles in the league, some teams mix a lot more deep passes in, some teams work catch and run plays, option etc. But I feel like the Default has become passive passing and passive coverage. Is this a good thing? Do you enjoy it? I wish the pendulum would swing back a bit in favor of defensive aggression. I hate hot much hand fighting and push offs WRs get away with (not to mention picks, and illegal blocks down field) while DBs dont even have the right to maintain their own position.
  20. Id say its highly likely he would be the 6th OL if speller is good to go. Eli still has a bit to go, and desjarlais hasnt been consistent. The team prides it self on nasty, physical OL. And Eli, in his limited reps has been the nastiest ive seen in a while. And his explosiveness is insane. Cant wait to see what he can do in camp next year. The primary limiting factor with a big guy like that is cardio. If he has been able to keep it sharp he can draw back in. If not more time would be understandable. Doesnt matter how good you are in the first quarter, if you are shot for the 4th and half of the 3rd. Thats too bad. Some people are like that professionally though. Especially athletes and football players from that era. Back then you had 1 time of coaching and leadership, and it wasnt uplifting.
  21. Thanks for sharing. Agree 100 percent.
  22. Thats great news, also pretty surprising. I didnt expect to see him back before TC next year.
  23. Agree with that too, especially in TC.
  24. In most cases yes. This case is like 200% though. Cfl coverage in all mediums seems inclined towards click bait, flavor of the moment trash but this is poor quality even by those standards.
  25. Sounds very likely. I wonder if we will bring in another project qb. Maybe when the PR expansion happens. Right after 2 6 game stints so decent savings. Perhaps he was close to returning and he was given extra time to prepare and be 100%. Hope speller is good to go for the next game. Then if only we could get the DBs healthy too.
