Watching him play even last night I don't think his knee is 100%
-
The way dressler ran him off deep enough then broke and ran him into the goal post was masterful. Idk if it was entirely on purpose but i suspect he atleast intended to use it as a pick to slow the db down and make him take a deeper longer route

1 bighill* with the play to win the game 2 Harris carrying the team on his back 3 medlock the automatic Hh to dresslee for the td right after the UR play

Agree on the stamps stuff. Best move for claybrooks is to hang out for a fist full of years and soak it in. For a guy like him it makes no sense to me to jump to a bottom feeder team rebuilding, or to a team like us that wont dedicate the time and resources like in a rebuild.
-
All about the D and harris imo. If the D keeps it rolling and harris has a big game we got it. No matter what nichols shows up, I cant see us winning a passing shoot out. Having demski back could prove huge as well. He was the punishment when teams cheated against the run with harris too much.
-
sam hurl 2.0 (in terms of role) they drop him a decent bit too from that package though. But imo the reason he is on the roster is teams. They could use a bunch of other guys in that role, as well as actual DL.

steinhauer is a great candidate for a head coaching job. Between him and claybrooks id lean slightly to steinhauer.

Beat ott, beat sask, cross over to the east in the play offs. Do it up.

this year we are using wild for his play on teams instead of flanders as the DI. Which is a poor move imo. how the als have escaped without tons of fines and a couple suspensions for the crap they have done vs us is beyond me.

The point named several guys at several positions who have been forced onto the roster at the cost of superior players. I wasnt saying lankford was here the entire time, I was saying we have always had some one like lankford, often multiple players like that forcing out better players. Look at all the talent we cut loose that continued to play well in the league after. Then look at how long lankford, for instance, has been here. Look at how many chances he has been given. Look at how few those other guys got. That, is the point. The thing is, other teams saw enough to give these guys more of a chance then we did and it worked out. A rookie having a poor mini-camp is hardly rush to judgment stuff imo. Thats why we have minicamp. Its to ease these guys into the transition to the cfl to improve the quality of TC. You can easily excuse one or two guys slipping through the cracks. But many, at several positions you cant.

I'm not sure if mos is salvageable or not. I do not believe we are in a position to go back to a first time cfl/pro head coach though. The franchise cant afford that major step back. And I don't know what we could possibly do to get one of the few HCs that would be a clear upgrade.

Too raw. A long with a big pile of big bodies we drafted in the last few years. He is one of those all or nothing guys. Like joe flemming was. Every once and a while he dominates, the rest of the time he is MIA. Pound for pound id take just about all the DL over him. I wish corney had been healthy this year. Yeah and when weve had demski in he has filled that role really, really well.

Yup, sums it up perfectly.

It seems to me that the type of guy we bring in after NFL cut down is the fringe young guy. Guys with tools but not a history of production. We seem to use our PR expansion as a chance to get an early look at guys for next years TC. The turnkey type of guys who have a chance to step in and really play at the pro level are few and far between. Givens, who didnt get much of a chance, white who was a bit of a victim to numbers, and thompkins. But even when we squeezed givens in (and others) we make such little use of them. Lets not forget, weve found guys that can play. But have habitually underused them and cut em. We have repeatedly kept the likes of stankford over tj thorpe, martese jackson, givens, white, ricky collins, flanders, kenny stafford, and so on. You can pick at that list. But stankford imo is worse then all of them. Our biggest problems are 1) not using talent well. We never ride the hot hand. A guy has a big game and we go away from him. We are limited on offense, the deep ball is not our friend that doesnt enable us to use it but also allows teams to cheat underneath. 2) not recognizing the talent in-house. See the list, + sam hurl kuale etc etc 3) We over emphasize the value of average quality STs. I get it, teams are important. They are not as important as O or D. And our teams are not as dramatically better as they should be for as much roster commitment as we make to them. We have found the talent. We have not made use of it most of the time. And even when we do we dont use it optimally. We have not identified who is a higher teir talent in the guys we bring in. We have not developed guys. The entire coaching staff is at fault, none more then mos.

if the offense did not take the field at all, we STILL would have won based only on defense. This team is soo bi polar. If we get the best of the offense weve seen this year and the best of the defense, we will roll through every one 100-0.

I was wondering during the game if Dressler wouldn't be better deployed as a DI and used in packages designed to involve him. The beating of every down football seems too much at this age, but he is still very effective with the ball in his hands. The loss of bond in the running game is pretty strong when teams play to take away the run game. Though at this point I think our best hope for any real improvement on the OL is for Gray to come home.

He did send the MLB all day, but he sent him to eat up a guard/gap. He didn't send him off the edge at all etc. How many times last year did we show 7 man fronts and use cover 0? I can't say it isn't hall. This is what mos talked about at the end of last season and into this season when he talked about getting his hands dirty in the d more often though.
-
I wonder how much was hall and how much was mos. He has been a lot more hands on with the d and blitzing is about as anti hall as it gets. The d play call was brilliant who ever is responsible.
-
1-3 all defense. Jsk and Bighill had monster games. Fogg, Sayles, Alexander big games. Dl Bryant and Nevis especially big games. Hh the blocked punt was a big part of setting the tone. Harris hard a really hard night running but still came up with a bunch of first downs and fought tooth and nail for his yards.
-
teams beat other teams, not qbs. The als are led by that D, which is far better then is normal for a bottom of the league team.
-
id take johnson hands down over sutton. /shrug
-
he played better. That is giving a lot of people hope and optimism. A lot of fans are of the belief that if we win, the qb must have played pretty good. cant talk enough about how much roh beasted. If he plays like that every good (not the production just the quality of play) he is gonna be impossible to take out. Lol Thompkins got walters back at least. We have a good crew of talented young DBs again. Time to cut them for some nfl cast offs who also play special teams.

The whole team was lifted a great deal by the trade, and the improved qbing performance. They have a really good D, if they didnt get left on the field soo much by the offense this year they'd be getting a lot more talk league-wide. Its nice, no team in the league right now is a cake walk. No free spots on the bingo card. The als made us fight them tooth and nail the whole game for the win. Thats a great thing for the league. Nichols was much sharper then he was the last several games. Still saw too many two and outs, halftime yard production was abysmal, and he did have some sub-par tosses. But the offense, in general, did a much better job sticking to and finding what worked. Thats the path to getting back to where you want to be and better. Imo dressler and hardrick were huge to have back. Especially hardrick. The difference in protection this week vs the losing streak was night and day.
