he is selling out for hits and coming up dry a lot more then normal no doubt. But he isnt in and around the action nearly as much as previous. 2 tackle a game pace this year, which is less then half of last year. In previous years he was crushing wrs over the middle. This year not. He needs to adjust his game to match how teams and the system have adjusted.

Top isnt the only modifying factors in fatigue. Weather, style of game, penalties extended the number of plays (which also doesnt affect TOP) lots of other things do. Physically being worn down by being run over a lot. If you dont think any one was sucking air or had their hands on their hips in the game then you might be fatigued. They did. In all aspects. They executed and we shot our self in the foot every chance we got. When you see head scratching mistakes late in games fatigue may have been a factor.

You arent wrong. In the current scheme with bighill playing the same area short-middle side line to side line that loffler previously excelled at he is kind of with out a home. I was thinking for a moment during the game, would we be better with bighill at S, jsk at mlb, and loffler at wil? The time to get a customed to a new position for each guy a lone seems like it wouldnt work. Plus JSK has really done well next to bighill. Perhaps the long term solution is trading loffler to a place he fits better. If jones health is bad, perhaps trade loffler for another starting NI, or sign bakari grant cut bowman play 3 ni wrs, move mo back to S and play fenner at sam. Alexander comes back when healthy and the two rooks fill one spot.

Out side of the line, fatigue shouldnt be a huge factor in the first half. These are pro athletes. Its especially prevalent in the 4th. Top is an important factor in defensive fatigue, but also the type of offense playing against it. Heavy run, with a lot of wrs running off dbs will wear you down faster. It all depends on the type of game you are playing, how much you rotate the line etc. Corney out, roh largely in effective less rotation. Just cant lump in all pro football players. The difference between a wil/mac, a db, and a DL is gigantic.

the last two years when it recorded more take aways then ever before? Our points of turn over was a huge factor in our success the last couple years. especially when we were living off the leg of medlock. Defense forces a turn over, offense sputters medlock kicks the fg. that happened a LOT and won us a lot of our games. The problem is that isnt a reliable repeatable formula.

If you count carter as a wr you do have the edge in terms of talent. However our NI talent at the position and depth are superior. It wasnt just demski struggling bringing them in, and that happens. Its especially prone to happening when a qb changes happens. A huge difference exists in catching balls from one qb to another. Bowman should be shown the door. But With the mental problem that is carter, dressler + adams + our depth id keep our wrs over trading them all straight up for the riders wrs. Bighill, jsk and mo as our 3 from the bc games all upgrades. Randle as well.

Battle of Underperformers: Blue vs Double Blue in Doubleheader

If he actually did let him self go to an extensive degree as the riders claimed, i could see that being the cause of him resorting to that. Here, he was a bulldozer. Though normally hands out side the shoulders is more of a tackle issue trying to deal with speed around the edge. -
Not enough starters. But i do believe the talent is available for teamers and PR. And that he gap, is developing those guys. This thread alone is about derek jones, a guy who since last year has been considered ready to start in the league but stuck behind loffler. Augustine showed he is ready to contribute on game day. A guy like spooner could draw in to allow more then one back up OL. Look at the list of NI that are not on the active roster right now. Corney, lafrance, augustine, jones, spooner, gauthier, speller and conteh. Only conteh is green guy. All the rest are guys who can contribute atleast as back end of the roster roles. Corney before being hurt had really turned the corner and also looked ready to start. Bc tried to scoop spooner last year to start for them. Speller and spoon are a coin toss in readiness. Gauthier had been one of the best teams guys in the league this year before getting hurt. Imo corney, lafrance, jones, spooner and speller all have strong starting potential. You dont get those type of guys around the corner by sitting on the PR rather then backing up and playing teams.

When does the bowman experiment end? (Bowman traded to Montreal)

🤢 That is disgusting. No joke. He was MIA last year in edm too. -

I have no clue what he is making, but i assume it isnt 100k+. I just cant see that. But yeah I think this series with toronto is as much leash as he should get. The max really. The nucks have handily out shown him thus far. -
i dont think less spots for NIs helps long term. Its less spots for development. We see frequently, guys past over in the nfl come here and become stars. Imo we need more of a catch can to allow talent to stick around longer and develop more. Not a restriction to try and force the once we have to be better. The talent and athletic ability of Nis is going up in leaps and bounds every few years. Heck Id rather see 2 more NI active roster spots then less.

Battle of Underperformers: Blue vs Double Blue in Doubleheader

Respect every one, fear no one. Any time you face a young qb you need to be aware how they can hurt you and respect that. At the same time pressure him till he proves he can handle it. Holding is always a befuddling call. I feel like in general the times its called are often border line while constantly horrible holds go un called. Id love for the league to take a good long hard look at holding in the off season. Its kind of like the charge call in basketball. its never gonna be perfect. But we need to do some thing to make it better. -
9 catches on 21 passes, 95 yards no tds 5 games. I dont suspect he is highly paid but I feel we'd be better served giving some one like thompkins a look, or bringing back denmark, heck bring in backari grant and start an extra NI. Bowman is a guy you need to involve and target a lot to get any thing out of and even then we all know his struggles with his hands.

xD Normally its LBers for us but we have an embarrassment of wealth on the DL. Hughes is the best of the two groups, but jeffcoat and ogopogo are 1b and 1c. Jefferson is a freak too.
-
At the same time edm was a freak game and we gave up 20 points to bc. If you lose a game where you give up 20 points, and dont score for nearly a half of football that cant be too heavy on the D. They were on the field far too much in bc. Do i worry about the D? Only when the other team runs the ball, we are up by less then 2 scores or its late in the game aka super prevent time. One day we will again have a ferocious D that fights to prevent each first down, doesnt give up gigantic plays every week and tackles well week in and week out. one day...

Idk if itd be that much better. We cant start 8 defensive ends. 😆

id like to see us able to retain the rights to college guys for two years and send em back. Draft them earlier, have them in two camps let them improve and learn from camps here then go back to college. On top of that say 2 more spots on the PR for NI kids who aged out of college would be good. but really what we need to attract more and better athletes to the game is, 1 safer football and 2 more money at the cfl level. We should take head contact as serious as PI / horse collars and bring about the eventual change to shoulder/rugby/hawk tackles. And for salaries to grow the league has to grow organically. I think the league is on a good path for sustained growth over all. Though some markets are troublesome with lack of attendance.

30 points in week 1, 56 in week 2, 17 in week 3, 41 in week 4, 17 in week 5. Clearly we are about to put up a huge score on toronto to win the first game, then 17 points in the second game... I do expect the offense to bounce back to more normal out put. 30+. Which put you in contention to win the game. We only gave up 1 more point to bc then we did vs jennings. Less then 3 majors in both games. And we out played them to a similar level for a half and change. We just failed to convert and tossed the game away at every chance. I do not expect the same this week back at home. The argos D is stingy (cept against the stamps) But if we put up 30+ i have a hard time seeing them keeping pace. Even more then 21-24. I worry about wilder and jackson though. We still dont tackle well and wilder is a big back. Jackson is fast and elusive too. The way harris is running and how well the OL played against the leos we need to be looking at 20 carries on the ground for harris. Pound the rock. Nichols has to shake off the rust and come back to normal from probably his worst game as a bomber. But he is almost certain to return to the median. If he plays any thing like last week against the argos its gonna be a long night. -

the db was right on top of him as the ball was coming in. Not pi, but also not an automatic catch by any means. that was a heavily forced pass. The real blame goes to plop on that one though. With such a gigantic field, why do we have all ours wrs with in like 10 yards of the same spot? just makes it easy to cover... -
i was losing it one of the worst ref jobs ive seen in the cfl in a long time. that said we had tons and tons of chances to win the game and failed to do so.
-
going air born to get that ball to insure he got it out side of 10 yards was brilliant.

yes, unless its the grey cup. But its a good point. Elite franchises beat the teams they should beat. and they finish a shin kicking. We kicked the poop outta bc for a lot of this game and should have won by 30 -

in general the 3rd quarter seems to be a serious issue for us. We tend to go into the half time with momentum then just fail to launch in the second half. Un characteristic of nichols we saw some brutal throws leading to turn overs. Id suspect its rust. Idk the last time he had a 3 pick game. hes gotten away with a few but not that could total that many in one game. We also saw some uncharacteristic bad drops from darvin adams. The red zone calll will ruffle some feathers no doubt. I like going for it, im all for it. Im also heavily in favor of going for it instead of punting just out side of FG range. But if we are gonna go for it and go with streveler running we got to play action. Freeze the defense dont let them key on streveler and crash down. Shovel option and get him out of the pocket. Streveler isnt ready to lead the team every game game in and game out. But he is way further along then one could expect. if any thing throw him in for some package stuff more when the offense is stagnant. Also we got a few roughing the passer calls that were just awful. -
1 First star goes to harris. 13 rushes 139 yards 2 tds 4 catches for 29 more. beast mode. 2 Randle gets second star with 3 or 4 great pass knock downs in the clutch and a couple great wrap n tackles. 3 JSK + bighill combine for the most formidable 1 2 punch at lber weve had since we last won a grey cup. Honorable mention to demski for some great runs and getting 10 touches. hh the on side kick. perfect execution and play call. thing of beauty.
