it isnt often a pro team gets blown out in back to back games. Just like its hard to put up big out puts back to back. I think ssk beats mtl, but by a far less then comfy amount. Ham felt like it was gonna be a hard game to win. Next week we have bc, which feels like a game we should bounce back and win. And the riders have the cats. Which feels like a game the riders will get whupped in.

I believe james stanley is here in part to take up the reigns of DC mid season if needed. Kinda like plop being ast HC and oc when mos was on the hot seat before turning the ship around. I could see young and younger as guys groomed to be dcs eventually as well. more and more the only thing left resembling the richie hall D is the stink of bend but dont break. Soo true. If our D plays competently lapo over thinking becomes a minor issue. Neuf idk how the guy sticks around. even with the right passport. He is beyond lousy even at guard. We gotta do some thing to get foketi in at guard, or take our lumps with the other younger nucks and let em develop.

what is really stupefying is that we just kept trying it over and over and over. at some point you gotta go ouch that element is hot im gonna try some thing else rather then keep touching it. but nope.

when it comes to defense, passive football is bad football. agree

because hall has us playing 10 yards off the wrs and the cats threw the same 8 yard out over and over and over. You can fool guys early. But once they know what you do you have to change it up. our bend but dont break D wasnt working in its own right early in its inception. Now its just shot. It also doesnt help that the cats play a lot of max cover and we thought some how the way to beat max cover was to send pressure, but less pass rushers then they have blockers. All we did is clear the field for ti cat wrs to make plays.

aka the fire hall edition. Not easy to pick guys in a mess like this. 1 Harris. We quit running for a long time after the big draw play was called back. But he ran hard as always. 14/66 + 3/17 2 Streveler, padded a bit late in the game but the hurry up made a big difference. 17/29 146 5 for 55 and a td. He didnt turn it over, and he ran the offense. Its too bad our play call was soo lack luster this week. 3 Medlock missed his first fg attempt in what was really a long punt attempt (59 yards) 1/2 7 punts for 43.7 yards 4 kick offs with an average of 69.5 yards. we did a job containing the return. hh Couture with his first ever catch.

i hate football games on mon-thurs. I also feel like the gap between reilly and the rest of the qbs in the league is growing.
-
Kinda torn. want the cfl to do well of course. And the league could use more eyes from down south opening up the path for fringe players to try out up here even more. but man i feel like if the views get too good the awful us expansion discussion will happen again. and that should never ever be done again.

I thought the same thing about japan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-League Holy crap its been going since 1971? how has no one come from it before? Osaka Gas Skunk Scans wow the names of these teams... max 4 imports, 2 on the field at a time. To be fair this isnt crazier then when ottawa brought in kerry joseph who was like 30 years old, out of football for a few years and had been a saftey in the nfl not playing QB since college. kinda makes me wanna see a one game exhibition each year with a cfl team and an xleague team haha
-
poor poor bastard he stands no chance. Rip spock. He will be KIA or MIA and we will have to search for him soon enough.
-
i dont think the nfl is a real competitor. we are too niche. I dont know any one who goes, oh i was gonna watch some cfl but nfl is one so im gonna watch that instead. Maybe im just detached from the average sports viewer out there. But I think people who watch cfl do so and will short of being up against most stuff.

this move smells more like a move to try and get more entry level guys into Tcs. More payments into the PA, especially by guys who wont cash any thing out. I feel like LD and rematch weeks should be the same games days and times. I would think its tsn too. The scheduling cant be that tight for most stadiums. But I mean what is the cfl up against right now? golf?
-
The short turn around games are what they should be attacking. pre season and in general. you shouldnt be playing football games twice in one week. not at any age or any level. we have a lot of serious health concerns in football. more and more parents are keeping their kids away from early years football or football in general. I wish they would crack down and focus on the real issues rather then tip toeing around none issues, modest issues at best and time wasters.
-
imo, if you are hurt in none contact practice either it was a total fluke that could happen at any time to any one or you came in out of shape.
-
because no contact once a day for 3 days is a player safety thing... In this case I think the league should add 1 week back to pre season and move the cut down day up. 3 games is optimal for pre season any way imo. Wont happen though. I feel like this is an early bit of good will from the league to the PA to try n get a new cba done.

Friday: Masoli vs, Streveler, Timmis vs. Harris, Banks vs. Demski

thats the nature of back up qbs. they are the un known. Franklin was a lot of hype because he looked good in very limited action. It doesnt take much to get people excited about back up qbs. Weve seen some horribad back up qbs have to start and not show any thing over extended periods. so when a guy shows flashes in limited action a lot of people get hyped. In hindsight yeah streveler is out performing franklin. But he is still in a great situation in toronto. and its still a very small sample size any thing could happen now. A running qb, especially one who can connect on short to intermediate type passes can start fast. No one has tape on him teams arent prepared. itll get harder before the game gets easier for him. I dont expect him to continue to lead the league in TD passes etc. But in just two games he has show a great continuing ability to adapt and improve. -

If we dont shuffle the line spooner comes in at guard imo. Maybe speller draws in, he could have leap frogged other guys but I doubt it. could finally be coutures time, but imo if he draws in hardrick shifts to guard and couture plays tackle. I could also see corney starting and rotating with jake/ jones (who got a bunch of reps as our dime in the first week and a decent amount against montreal) and foketi finally getting his shot. Jeffcoat becomes the DI and rotates. we have a bunch of ways to work it, which is great. I know its early in the season but despite losing/dumping a few starting NIs from last season we have a bunch of guys who can step in and contribute. heck we could DI bowman and start 3 ni wrs. we wont, but we could. -

that is just to protect him, bc tried to claim him last year sitting on the PR. If we dont have to activate him we save a bit of money. i wouldnt think a huge chunk. -

He would play his best no doubt. But even here I think his best football is in the past. Maybe a couple years backing up could bring it back though. Its not shell shock with him. its bad decisions and in ability to be consistent with his location on passes. Doesnt help his deep ball looks like a duck either. -

I think hes shot. Maybe some flashes here n there with the riders, enough to keep them hanging on this year. But even with the weapons they have, he wont be league average. Especially behind that Ol and with that offense they run. I think bridge has some up side, hes worth developing. the sooner they commit to him and write off collaros the better, but Im fine with them suffering a while. bridge may not be the next franklin level prospect. But he is better then a bunch of the back ups in league now. 🤣Im not the twitter type, or the type to rub it in. But i would get a good laugh out of their response. That franchise needs to rebrand and get some character. The bad boy jail blazers thing only work for a while. and only when you win. -

Even in that dismal team you can see evidence of this. Blown out by calgary, bounce back against montreal. Blown out on LD, bounce back to win in BJB. In this era of athletes, the difference between elite teams and bottom dwellers is seldom over all talent level. Its preparation, motivation, work ethic etc. Top teams tend to have better distributions of talent, but you still have a ton of big time play makers on the worst teams in the league right now. The 3 teams that dont make the play offs will still get wins. And there is always a good chance that win will come off a big loss. Because nothing motivates, fuels you to get your self into a better situation and work to prepare then getting punched in the mouth. For my money bc, montreal, and ssk are the three teams poised to be the bottom tier of the league. But its still early and they can fight out of that position. -

The riders are built around worse character then the als over all. The als still have a ton of threats on offense and a bunch of good players on D. I expect they will have a big slug fest that will be more then a lil chippy. -

never underestimate a team thats been blown out at home the next week. Often extreme out comes lead to a balancing out in the next game. The als might surprise and we might be in a low scoring last drive wins situation. -

after all these years the truth comes out. it WAS the gins fault. -
They need to come down hard on muamba. If it was just one play a fine would be ok. But the pre season hit and talk after on johnny football is a bad precedent.
