Yeah with bc now, was with hamilton last year broke out with the riders after starting with us.
-
ricky collins. year before last iirc.

In the last 10 years it seems like half the league has gotten new stadiums. Hopefully in less then 10 more year every one will be playing in high quality digs.

By hard, "cant miss" standards id say mike sims walker. He missed, but by injury retirement. The level of skill he had as a wr coming into the league was off the charts. From what little he showed id still take a flyer on that guy if he was healthy. He was that good. Other wise Id probably say chris givens. But wr is a hard position to be cant miss at. And football is a hard sport to be cant miss at. Some positions, like Lber (mlb/will) and Rb are easier to perform at but even then nothing is a guarantee. The volume of high potential guys we have in camp at every position soo heavily dwarf the likes of the taman era and the modern era as a whole. That is why we dont so much see one guy who cant miss. the competition is better and higher. Virtually any player on the team could be beat out of their position.

That makes sense. the punches always seemed kinda poor quality to me, that or like they legit snuck a punch in. but then its gotta be really hard to fake a punch like that.
-
think thats very rare these days, its when a guy comes back from the nfl or finally comes up from the nfl like brown or westerman. Ultra high potential guys with great skills/athletic ability/ high end experience/success sure. But general level of talent that comes up now compared to what used to is what makes the cant miss guys very rare. I think cant miss guys who havent played meaningful snaps of pro football are the rarest commodity. We see less of that and less of the TCF guys and more an across the board high level of talent. The closest thing we could see to a cant miss guy is geoff gray.

For the first time in a gazillion years i watched a bit of wrasslin. Watch the highlights then most of the RR match. Is it messed up that RRs punches looked dramatically better then HHHs? maybe im crazy or just not knowledgeable when it comes to wrestling, but she seemed to toss em pretty good in general. HHH seemingly annoyed and mildly ego bruised by her onslaught was pretty good too. It seemed like her flurry against wifey was getting a bit meh, then that body shot lol. again maybe she did some trickery but that last body shot seemed pretty solid.

Watch MTl be hot garbage again and cut him before the vet contract day. THEN WE CAN GO THROUGH IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!! I seriously hope to never hear about the bombers being a landing spot for henoc. i bet he is MTL bound one day when reed is finally axed.
-
not a social media type. but what i look for is the music choice in their highlights. If its over used, a good selection etc vital information into their psyche. gangster rap? ok. beyonce? not ok. What i really want to see is some vicious hard hitting Lber/db whose highlights are set to the proclaimers, smash mouth, or chumbawamba. thats the stuff of the HOF.
-
Nailed it. our lack of a wr with a great last name and nick name has been the true down fall of the team.
-
also the same number of QBs montreal has had in camp the last two years, and the same number the riders carry on the IR every week. Makes it easier to be a good receiver for sure, more standing reach then pure height but yeah. Doesnt matter how big you are, how fast you are, how strong or how well you run routes if you cant catch the ball.
-
i dont think these guys are TCF, tcf imps is kind of a thing of the past imo. These guys have some legit up side. Huge athletic, some very productive in college. More of a flyer low risk high reward move with some of em that didnt play a lot in college.

by else where do you mean the 3 years in regina, 2 years as a HC in edm and the half a year in toronto? so all he did was set the record for most GC appearances, tie the record with most GC wins, win 3 GCs in a row with 2 different teams, won GCs with 4 different teams (has any one done that?) and didnt win one with 2. But then he also won a GC as the DC of edm. He also only missed the play offs in the last half a year with toronto. His longest GC drought was 8 years, winning the year before and after that. You can add asterisks and provisos all you want but in sports you cant argue with championships. The don may have won 2 of his 5 gcs with flutie, but flutie won 2 of his 3 with don mathews. Is dominance impossible today? the stamps say no.

Bombers add 2 imp wrs. Jerome lane. Interesting story and body type. Real big strong guy. Started out as a S/lb, itd be pretty awesome if he was a good kick cover guy as well as wr. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/jerome-lane?id=2558120 Dominique reed is also interesting but the opposite. Another tall guy listed 6'3 but listed a shade under 180. Did some kick returning too. Blew up his pro day 4.39 40" vert 10'4 broad jump 4.50 shuttle and 6.82 3 cone. 6 reps on the bench press. but if hes 180 that isnt bad. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000793456/article/pro-day-results-arkansas-georgia-wisconsin-virginia-tech

To play devils advocate a bit, Some times the management or coaching (more coaching) is enough to turn a franchise around but isnt the right ones to take it all the way. (marty shottenheimer and a couple other nfl coaches have been the turn around guy but not the all the way guy). Also, imo soft player friendly coaching has a shorter half life then a hard ass coach. But im not sure how much of a hard ass you can even be as a coach any more. The cfl should bring in Simon sinek to talk to all the management and coaching. or a team should. You cant really put the boots to player any more and his modern leadership style would probably be gigantic for modern football coaching. That said 1) its too soon to say that this year. 2) we cant just upgrade them. if we fired either we would be hoping some one who failed at HCing last attempt or a CO could step up to a high level. They are well above replacement level coaching and Gming in the cfl. 3) right now what we need is a consistent good team. We want a championship but we need to be a contender for several years. 4) both are still improving. if we fired either Im sure they would be haunting us on other teams for 20 years to follow.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

Well going from paying 4 peanuts to 8 is still paying peanuts. So thats part of it. But yeah they are struggling to keep the doors open with the previous cba this seems like the death knell of the AFL. Short of some thing extreme happening. The amount the afl paid when the AFL was strong and cflers went back n forth wasnt great. And for sub stars it was really bloody low. I have to think its only gotten worse. If the afl goes belly up I imagine some one some where will re start the concept. iirc bonjovi in philly has been a cornerstone of the AFL since it began. So maybe he does. Yeah, a few guys going back n forth like robert gordon. But he especially kinda showed you just cant play that much football in one year and survive. In general i didnt have much hate of the AFL, they had some crappy management for a while but they didn't pose a real threat and fledgling leagues generally up cycle talent that would other wise wash out. -
Bang on, known guys and or guys with big time potential. IIRC jon jones debuted on the ufc 100 under card. Taking any thing from pride (nearly) would be an instant injection of excitement and interest. Idk maybe its even good for mma to have a weaker ufc, stronger bellator One etc and drive up the value of mma not just the ufc. But it feels like crap right now being an mma fan.

https://jaysjournal.com/2018/02/22/blue-jays-sad-story-brett-lawrie/ an interesting read on former jay brett lawrie. Had soo much hope for the guy, loved the way he played even after he was dealt. Its confusing, sad and worrying what he is going through. to me it sounds like a mental issue, but we cant know what another person feels. I would love to see him get back on track, be happy healthy and productive again.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Arena_Football_League_season Not yet, but it sounds like it could be very near. 17 stats are interesting. 3 of the 5 teams had a win % under .400. attendance average around 10k. They went from having AFL 2 a minor league system. To not running, and the minor league running. To in 2014 having 14 AFL teams, down to 5. -
Khabib makes the LW rankings and title even more murky. We have a linear champion, an interim champ who was stripped on very low notice /poor reasons, and another now who beat the 11th ranked guy in the division. Some how despite a boxing background from white he has recreated one of the biggest problems in boxing (and an easily avoided one at that) rankings and belts that mean nothing. We now have a WBA WBO and WBC LW champ now we just need another fake belt for the IBF. Thug rose only solidified her reign with a UD win over JJ. Ufc lost big time this weekend. This was supposed to be a huge event and ended up more of a whimper. They gotta get back to business as usual soon with the biggest draws fighting relevant fights rather then hyped up super fights that lead to nothing. But with the current state of things now, I fear we will only see them go further down the rabbit hole. prepare for brock vs the winner of stipe/dc, gsp vs silva (or some other none WW champ) diaz vs mcg and all the cm punk you can handle.
-
The bald one put it out there that brock might get the winner of DC miocic. Kinda makes me ill that he'd skip to that. On the other hand if miocic beats both he'd make a TON of money. I can see him jumping lewis, even though lewis should be more of a focus from the ufc. But if blaydes beats reem no way he should jump over blaydes. And shouldnt jump volkov too. Im fine with brock fighting the sea of washed up gate keeper types, and guys he fought in the past. But a title shot? gimmie a break. Even some one whose lost a bit of steam like lewis or ngannou is fine.
-
Imo out of the back field type plays any back should be able to make. I dont expect more of him in that department then any back. Is he an andrew harris/blink type constant threat and pivotal piece as a pass catcher? doubt it. But with harris you dont need that when working both in at the same time. Im more concerned with us actually making good use of 2 backs and multiple looks. some read option stuff. We cant use the X factor stuff as a gimmick forever. at some point we have to be able to mix it fluidly both between multiple backs and between that and passing down field.
-
reeling after one of the biggest blunders of a week in ufc history.
-
This is what i thought right away. i wish they had. Just wait for khabib to fight some one reasonable. it seems the UFC intend to honor iaquinta and treat him as the LW champ should he win. UFC 2manyshenanigans. The original card was one worth paying and going out to see or hosting a night in. the card now, is only worth stealing because of a khabib sighting and the JJ thug rose rematch. I anticipate PPV sales of -3 + about 300k russians.
