Too raw. A long with a big pile of big bodies we drafted in the last few years. He is one of those all or nothing guys. Like joe flemming was. Every once and a while he dominates, the rest of the time he is MIA. Pound for pound id take just about all the DL over him. I wish corney had been healthy this year. Yeah and when weve had demski in he has filled that role really, really well.

Yup, sums it up perfectly.

It seems to me that the type of guy we bring in after NFL cut down is the fringe young guy. Guys with tools but not a history of production. We seem to use our PR expansion as a chance to get an early look at guys for next years TC. The turnkey type of guys who have a chance to step in and really play at the pro level are few and far between. Givens, who didnt get much of a chance, white who was a bit of a victim to numbers, and thompkins. But even when we squeezed givens in (and others) we make such little use of them. Lets not forget, weve found guys that can play. But have habitually underused them and cut em. We have repeatedly kept the likes of stankford over tj thorpe, martese jackson, givens, white, ricky collins, flanders, kenny stafford, and so on. You can pick at that list. But stankford imo is worse then all of them. Our biggest problems are 1) not using talent well. We never ride the hot hand. A guy has a big game and we go away from him. We are limited on offense, the deep ball is not our friend that doesnt enable us to use it but also allows teams to cheat underneath. 2) not recognizing the talent in-house. See the list, + sam hurl kuale etc etc 3) We over emphasize the value of average quality STs. I get it, teams are important. They are not as important as O or D. And our teams are not as dramatically better as they should be for as much roster commitment as we make to them. We have found the talent. We have not made use of it most of the time. And even when we do we dont use it optimally. We have not identified who is a higher teir talent in the guys we bring in. We have not developed guys. The entire coaching staff is at fault, none more then mos.

if the offense did not take the field at all, we STILL would have won based only on defense. This team is soo bi polar. If we get the best of the offense weve seen this year and the best of the defense, we will roll through every one 100-0.

I was wondering during the game if Dressler wouldn't be better deployed as a DI and used in packages designed to involve him. The beating of every down football seems too much at this age, but he is still very effective with the ball in his hands. The loss of bond in the running game is pretty strong when teams play to take away the run game. Though at this point I think our best hope for any real improvement on the OL is for Gray to come home.

He did send the MLB all day, but he sent him to eat up a guard/gap. He didn't send him off the edge at all etc. How many times last year did we show 7 man fronts and use cover 0? I can't say it isn't hall. This is what mos talked about at the end of last season and into this season when he talked about getting his hands dirty in the d more often though.
-
I wonder how much was hall and how much was mos. He has been a lot more hands on with the d and blitzing is about as anti hall as it gets. The d play call was brilliant who ever is responsible.

1-3 all defense. Jsk and Bighill had monster games. Fogg, Sayles, Alexander big games. Dl Bryant and Nevis especially big games. Hh the blocked punt was a big part of setting the tone. Harris hard a really hard night running but still came up with a bunch of first downs and fought tooth and nail for his yards.
-
teams beat other teams, not qbs. The als are led by that D, which is far better then is normal for a bottom of the league team.
-
id take johnson hands down over sutton. /shrug

he played better. That is giving a lot of people hope and optimism. A lot of fans are of the belief that if we win, the qb must have played pretty good. cant talk enough about how much roh beasted. If he plays like that every good (not the production just the quality of play) he is gonna be impossible to take out. Lol Thompkins got walters back at least. We have a good crew of talented young DBs again. Time to cut them for some nfl cast offs who also play special teams.
-
The whole team was lifted a great deal by the trade, and the improved qbing performance. They have a really good D, if they didnt get left on the field soo much by the offense this year they'd be getting a lot more talk league-wide. Its nice, no team in the league right now is a cake walk. No free spots on the bingo card. The als made us fight them tooth and nail the whole game for the win. Thats a great thing for the league. Nichols was much sharper then he was the last several games. Still saw too many two and outs, halftime yard production was abysmal, and he did have some sub-par tosses. But the offense, in general, did a much better job sticking to and finding what worked. Thats the path to getting back to where you want to be and better. Imo dressler and hardrick were huge to have back. Especially hardrick. The difference in protection this week vs the losing streak was night and day.

Yeah our tackling, in general, is not very good (outside of a small group of guys). A lot of bad pursuit angles, poor tackling form, selling out for hits etc. If a guy like drake nevis gets his arm around a QB that qb should be going down 9 times out of 10. Odd time you deal with a guy like mike reilly who is strong af. But weve seen far too many broken arm tackles by qbs in the back field this year. Yeah he looks like a guy who will be a lock for 1k yards a year for the next several years. This year is his coming out party. A back up to the HH, right after making a big first down catch Thompkins pinched inside and leveled an als defender with a block in run support. That type of effort away from the ball is contagious.

1 Roh, Monster game with 7 tackles 3 sacks fumble recovery and a tackle for a loss 2 Medlock nailing those long field goals. Couple great punts, though two poorer ones late. 3 Thompkins/wolitarsky. Both had a great game. especially big for thompkins coming back from that scary injury in the banjo bowl. hh Sayles coming up for a big hit on the much bigger stanback.

correct on no3. For me, ill take gambles of aggression. especially out of mos. Aggressive football is good football.

the biggest lie in the history of sports.
-
He was asked for the PR iirc but we have a rookie that wasnt in camp on the active roster. But yeah.
-
3 guys that played well enough to make the roster. one dt and two ends. It was boggling that we brought in another guy and have played him over bringing those guys back. especially montgommery.
-
that does happen to some extent. Though its more bad attitude pushing guys off a team and opening a spot for a less talented guy who is a better locker room fit. Imo with mos its more about him prioritizing different things. Like he puts a much much bigger value on a guy who can contribute on teams as well as offense or defense. It seems like a guy who is half as good at their primary job but 100% better on teams will keep a roster spot over a guy who is more of an offense or defense guy. I think examples of this are guys like wild, stankford, and hurl. vs guys like terrence frederick, tj thorpe, walker, rueben randle and white, also why kenbrell thompkins sat for soo long as well.
-
you arent normally the guy to say atodaso, but... What is strange to me is why we didnt bring back one of, awoleke, casher, or montgommery from camp. Those guys killed it. I know only two are ends but cmon those guys were great in camp and pre season. I dont think position is weighted very heavily in terms of the PR.
-
I feel like we could use petermann more in that type of role. But I can think of a bunch of spots we could use the extra depth at all the same. Especially DB.

its either gonna be we chase manziel and see pipkin in the 4th after 10 sacks and 4 picks with a couple defensive TDs, or a LOT of Bomber fans will be hyperventilating in the 4th. Would be our kind of luck to be the first team to lose to manziel as he makes high lights all down south. but naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. He still has no OL and is still johnny manziel. Im torn on this one. Id be the last one to pull a young qb. And pipkin has shown the most life of what the als have. But dude is tossing up ints like hes danny mac-nichols. (i kid i kid) Id probably use a 2 qb system the rest of the way for the als. Even rotate in adams if one of the other two is in a deep struggle. Dont bounce back n forth with who is the starter this year. Establish that they are in a dog fight going into camp next year to try and lock up a qb1 job. -
At this point, everyone controls their own destiny outside of mtl and to. Win out and you're in.

yep ill be in the stands again too. but i sit higher up in the 231 range. Midfield, covered, great price, great angle love it.
