  1. Qft. I assume he gets some thing in the 200-220k range. Not my favorite guy, but fits a huge need and could allow us to carry the extra imp ol easier. He’s 26 too, I assume he still gets to try the nfl window. Pretty unusual.
  2. https://3downnation.com/2024/03/21/2024-cfl-draft-profiles-western-db-lourenz-bowers-kane/ Meh testing numbers. I don’t really get this move. We’ve got both halletts, Kelly, plus karamoko all for depth. Even weitz is comparable size/athleticism roster filler. If we liked this kid a lot why not have had him in camp?
  3. I don’t tune in for the post game show thanks for the fill in One point out of 4th, it’s a kooky year even by cfl standards. not in the modern era. Agree. At his best he runs to throw. Makes sense. Wallace and neuf won’t be it.
  4. That makes a lot of sense, I hadn’t heard that. I hope they do a good check on him before game time, and I’m sure they will our trainers are ace.
  5. The mobility issue isn’t physical now imo. Early in the year I think it was a game shape issue. The last two weeks we’ve seen him do a much better job with his feet. The problem is he often tucks the ball as soon as he sees pressure and takes his eyes off the down field targets. He stares into the blitz then tries to get the ball out of his arm and back to his hand then throws half blind. The moment he tucks the ball any one in the tackle box rushes him. The moment he takes his eyes off the targets he loses coverage adjustments. When zach was at his best here he wasn’t crazy fast escaping, he was really poised. Eyes down field, ball ready to throw, stepping confidently not panicking. He always seemed fast enough to beat any rush, because the threat of throwing and running keeps the D honest. Because his goal was to take whatever was open. Not force a shot to over compensate.
  6. As much as moving the pocket, I’d have slot backs chipping ends, and go with an extra blocker. Either chip LT or put a fb/6th ol with him. We could use a chip and a half roll. If zach is on a 5 step, instead of dropping straight back slide step to the side, or do a fast 3 step sprint out and reset. Balancing all those different augmentations to our pass pro will be critical to keeping the riders off balance and zach in time to pass. Even if Stan is healthy I’d put in a lot of that.
  7. Mos just said he expects big Stan to play now, and thinks Wallace might be back this year. It makes sense that they would give Stan time to rest. Recovering from that type of dehydration especially for a big guy, is no joke. I do worry they might send him to go when he isn’t ready. It does beg questioning how he became critically dehydrated on the first drive. Guy keeps him self in immaculate shape and is a real pro. Maybe it was a mistake or accident. But I hope it’s not a sign of deeper issues. He did have streaks of about a month twice were he was not only brutal, but consistently throwing pick 6s. Zach is a great great guy and team player though, Rodger’s is a turd. It’s hard to say when it’s time to move on from a guy like zach. But I think 90% of that call is dependant on having the next guy. Brown + strevy is the best case scenario to move on. You never get a better jumping off point.
  8. Yep, it’s gonna be an ugly ol group. We better be ready with a better game plan to provide protection for zach.
  9. Our roster construction made all our problems worse. We moved on from grant and Bailey with out existing in house replacements. We moved on from hardrick and brought in an army of guards. Zach hasn’t been good in any play off games here. Adequate a few times but never close to a mop level performer. Zach is 36, there is no world where you can expect the best performance in the clutch at that point. He also struggled hard multiple times for extended stretches last year. About two solid month long slides of playing really bad. Now he’s had one good game since week 18 of last year.
  10. Looks like Gabe Wallace on crutches. No big Stan. Randolph at lt, eli at G. Woli back at it. No neuf or biggie.
  11. Oof. Yeah looked like it was a season ender. He’s been such a bright spot. Soo much further along than expected, soo hard working and smart. Improving his physique all on his own, which alone has taken big steps since his college career ended. I hope he can be 100% for camp next year, he’s going to be a damn good player.
  12. Honestly any thing is possible in the ldc/bjb. I expect a split with home teams winning. That said zach played his worst game of the year (again) and could well have a bounce back game. If he has his best game of the year we will blow them out. Ssk has done the best job of getting to the qb this year, zach is hopeless vs pressure and our ol is in dire straights. I won’t be surprised though if he have another ugly game.
  13. Looked bad for sure. I think the biggest indicator will be if he goes on the 1g or 6g. 6g and he’s probably done for the year.
  14. No joke. 5 games league wide with a score 40 points or higher. 0 50+ scores. Compared to 6 teams winning scoring 20 points or less, in the last 6 weeks alone. 8 games in the last 6 weeks had a combined score under 40 as well.
  15. And a straight answer we aren’t going to get along with the other massive rash of injuries we have.
  16. He signed a 2 year deal. Basically no chance zach out plays brown over any length of time greater than 1 game now.
  17. Hmm I know illegal blocks can be, and when the play is major foul level. We could also petition to the league. Holding, illegal block, no yards, pi, rtp, and spotting the ball are all serious issues in the league right now. The league needs its largest intervention ever in refing.
  18. I have no doubt he could succeed in coaching if he so decided. I’d send Johnson to the pr too. Between case and smith, I like having the imp rb to use as a rotational guy. But case looked really fast and dangerous with the ball in his hands. And we have had a mad rash of injuries at wr. Wheatfall gives us some good fit at wr too. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the 3 on for Johnson.
  19. Totally true I see the local media questioning the bombers more and more. It’s pretty interesting.
  20. Guys retiring imo. The league needs to make reffing a decent paid full time positions. The league is hurting bad right now from the quality of rule enforcement. And let’s be real, the cfls ability to develop and draw refs is terrible. The lowest probably of any pro sport in North America.
  21. I don’t put blame for losses on refs. Even if they maliciously screw up a key call at the end, you still have a dozen active chances becomes the last 3 to win the game. You also have to earn holding calls by fighting through and making them flagrant. You don’t get holding calls easily handed to you especially in this league. Ol get away with a lot here. with that said, we got mugged with no recourse. Wj has a tendency to not fight through and let teams get away with mugging. It wasn’t just him though. I saw a lot of guys getting held and not borderline fringe grabs. Stamps ol wore bomber jerseys last night as much as their own. To an extent Patterson needs to coach these guys on how to shed blocks and fight through to draw calls. The team should start challenging holds to force refs to pay attention. And guys especially vets like wj should fight through better.
  22. The worst part of that whole thing is I honestly have no idea what to expect when it comes to pi calls on the field, or booth reviews in general. I would prefer to see some physicality let go between dbs and wrs. Push offs are seldom enforced, and pretty heavily used. If both guys are hand fighting and doing small tugs I’m good with. That makes for the most entertaining and skillful play as well imo. The league really needs to work on consistency both from the booth and on the field. It’s hard and to be precise on the field and no one is perfect. But being consistent shouldn’t be soo hard. Excellent point. I’d much rather see that kind of half time show rather than what we usually see.
  23. The worry is the end result will prevent any of the much needed changes from happening.
