Whats that site? ive never heard of it before. 6'1 228 is not above average for a LBer in the nfl. Thats the problem. That said a guy like him (and most who get an nfl look tbh) could make a full career go of it if they put 100% effort into teams play every play and in prep. Instead of the classic de/lb tweener hes a newer lb/db tweener. Big for a db small for a lber. Awesome combo for up here though.

We had to over pay, and be thankful as all heck when a guy like bryant chose to slum it with us. Now our management has us in the a premier situation we have seen the likes of in ages.

I think its more ebb and flow. We will see spikes and dips as teams free up salary and break down to utter rebuild levels. Despite montreals best efforts last year every team in the league could well believe they are 1 or 2 key guys from making a run. 2-3 years from now I could see another huge FA period. Till then I expect much more like this. Yeah I would not worry about his age. His pass port easily out shines that. Explosiveness, drive and technique are huge at rush end. Dont agree that strength diminishes with age. Certainly not the on set of 30 ish. Quickness sure. 2015 westerman, worth 200k. 16, not. 17 was on track to be close in production. But he hasnt adapted to the way teams play him nearly as well as teams have adapted to him. I think jeffcoat in a full season next year emerges as an elite + pass rusher. At a fraction the cost.

What more do we hope for at this point? Westy back at a reasonable price would be great. But im more then good with the DL we have now. I might rather have jake thomas back then westerman actually. Weve shored up our WR core in a huge way, Dbs, no2 qb and NI depth after the first day of free agency. NI wise, id love to see us start 2 wrs, 3ol, 1 rb, 1s, Lafrance vs flanders will be interesting.

also that

Or the money just isnt available after the previous couple years of frenzy. Probably a bit of both though.

You could chalk OL into the highest need in draft preparations for every team in the league every year. Its nearly impossible to go wrong drafting OL. It may not go right, a better player at another position may crop up after the OL. But no one will question the pick of an OL if they are close to that pick range in talent. I feel like we are in a great spot in terms of NI talent and young ni talent on the OL. We can grab positional needs, BPA, highest potential and or futures.

MO back to S, fenner at sam loffler to LB dare to dream.
-
I like the idea, but think we need to have a thread to discuss doing it in first. A pre thread. Then maybe draft people to be involved and have a thread for that. then a thread to pick up any one who wasnt drafted. Then we can make a practice/training thread.... The off season is dark and full of terrors.

to be fair, you cant so much as look at a wr too hard these days. You cant even own your own space. A wr can jam you, fall down, and get the flag. 3/4 of those replacements happened mid way through last season though....
-
Imo he will go into camp as the nickle db off the bench.
-
10 PPV events a year would be perfect imo. 11 divisions plus the new womens fw division. You can have 2-3 title fights in a ppv night, and some mixed into the free live events. And focus the free events on a bunch of belt qualifier matches and up and comer types.

Johnson didnt get beat for more big plays then any one. In fact he got beat for among the fewest.
-
So we are 2 ni injuries away from having to play a green ni. Thats the case for most every team and most every position imo. Sure its great to bring in all the talent at all the positions you can find. Especially on the line, and especially NIs. But i dont think we need a NI back up DL more then any thing else.

Corney is a pretty good guy for that spot the league over. Plus we wont know what he is really capable of till hes thrown out there more.
-
You cant just strip it down to which side a db plays. Guys will switch more then you would think with motion and 5+ wr sets. Not to mention with randle eating up one side of the field for years. Allstar? The allstar roster selection in the CFL is often a joke. Out right favoritism wins out. Weve seen all stars one year unsigned the next. With dbs, all star spots often go to guys with the most picks./d tds. Randle is just getting the recognition he deserves. Bruce johnson was a really good db. So was frederick. The scheme we play could also makes dbs look about as bad as possible. Take a good look at the ex bomber DBs the league over. And how long guys lasted after we let them go.

Jones, and morgan are real good football players. Given some more time and experience both have a strong chance to play them selves into more active roles. In previous years these guys would be talked about a lot more in the forums. The talent level of our NI depth is the best ive ever seen.
-
Thats the truth. And if he ever figures it out in coverage he'd be all world. With heath, I think we will see turn over at DB. Would like him back, but I think thats a position we can scout and develop at the highest level. Better to spend the money else where if he expects premium money. Hes a big play maker at db, but he is no randle or mo. Thomas and westerman are both possible casualties of the insane depth at we have at DL. Jeffcoat, ogopogo, nevis, and poop start. Corney and ekakitie as back ups. Thats a fantastic line. With arguably our best starters intact. That said Id love both westerman and thomas back. More time for ekakitie to develop, thomas is great in a rotational role. Westy, when healthy is probably our best pass rusher. Easily our most gifted. And has the right pass port. Id if we can carry him ogopogo jeffcoat AND corney on the end though with out gimping our self else where.

In general bowman has been pretty healthy. Much more so then dressler/adams. Yeah the foolish junk flying about with respect to collaros has me baffled. cfl.ca on FB saying hes a top 3 qb?The same guy who lost his job twice to jeremy masoli? Harris i can see the argument. Harris healthy on the riders would be a threat to break some records. Collaros is far down the list of guys id want. Id rather have jennings. Hes only 25, no doubt his best football should be in front of him. Get him with the right system and coaching staff and look out. Harris, id honestly take glenn over collaros. And durant. And masoli. Time will tell i guess.

In edm, even when he wasnt having a big game he was still productive. Not as hero today MIA tomorrow as denny has been for us. But the drops are real. Still dressler adams and bowman gives us a scary top end of our wr core when healthy. If we started those 3 + jfg and demski we are in a fantastic spot. I hope its a TC battle between denny, bowman and new guys like givens for the roster spot.
-
I was kinda scared wed end up with bowman. The guy was elite previous to last year despite a ton of drops. If he came fairly cheap, that makes it a lot better. He has no1 wr talent, and if he isnt depended on to be the no1 its even better. Physically he gives us a change of pace from what we have, which is great. If we can still poach demski, this is the best shape our wr core will have been in since the early 2ks.

Not for any kind of star, they have stars. They have developed stars. They are desperate for MORE stars, and really desperate for a star they can control. It does smack of sweat and shame though. This guy does not belong in a pro mma match. Period. They can not dig up a pro fighter who wont merc him. A lot of fault to go around in that horrible beating. Seriously, that was bad. Ill preface this by saying ive fought at the amateur level (not mma) extensively, and I am fully in favor of early stoppages. Dont over weigh one loss like in boxing. Let them come back and do it again later, and save the CTE as much as possible. Matching making, reffing, cachoeiras corner, and mma culture all share some blame in this. I dont think its the worst thing in the world to have a some one like shevy fight a low tier fighter. That said, having her go down in weight THEN fight a low teir fighter in that bracket? Nah thats messed up. That shouldnt happen, especially not with some one with her offensive skill set. Mario gonna mario. The guy is a joke. If we see an in ring death he will be the ref. The guy is a butcher and a joke. In general mma reffing needs work, and no easy solution exists. Hes gonna keep getting work, and so will other questionable at best judges and refs. Knowing this, puts extra importance on the rest of the factors needing to do a better job. Cachoeiras corner. Wow, throw in the ***** towel. It isnt her last title shot as a mid 30 some thing. She clearly was out matched and stood no chance. If you work a corner your number one obligation is the saftey and health of your fighter. You protect them at all times. Mma culture. This macho arrogance, this anti tapping stuff kills me. Seen soo many grapplers maimed because they are too tough to tap. Refusing to tap is as bad as holding a sub too long. Youve lost only you refuse to be humble enough to accept it. This comes out in spades when we see stuff about tapping to strikes. Tapping is ok. Tapping to strikes is also ok. if youve ever taken a hard liver shot or body shot you will know the bodies reaction is soo intense and overwhelming you cant even quantify the pain. You shut down. Getting elbowed a gazillion times in the head has a similar affect. We shouldnt $^%^ on fighters for admitting defeat when every one else knows it too.

Except for the bomber fan camp. Must subdivide!
-
A lot of names on that list of guys who have been productive players in the league. But have question marks. Gonna be a good year for gambling. Fajardo wasnt re signed? I sure would love to have him groomed behind nichols n durant.

The problem with that is ekakatie has done nothing. He is a lot further behind then trent corney was after his first year. Neufeld cant stay healthy and is a turn stile more often then he is serviceable. Last year in which he rode the pine for 90% of the season was the first time hes dressed in 18 games. And if those two are the starters, what happens if one of them gets hurt? Atleast we have some young ni talent worth developing at OL. If we start our two ni dts (shunning the best DT we've had since doug brown) we are back to mack era NI issues when/if one misses time. Thomas was our 3rd best DT last year, but hes going to be the key stone. Yes and no. Hes had a decent amount of reps. But he hasnt been put in as a starter and known he is gonna play the game. No matter if he makes mistakes or excels. Thats a big difference. Is he ready for a larger role? I fully believe it. Why isnt he in that role already? ogopogo, westerman, and jeffcoat. That is like being the no 3 qb behind tom brady AND peyton manning. Good luck stealing reps. That said if he comes back any larger (like the previous years) he is gonna pretty much have to slide in side to DT.
