We have always seemed to come out a bit flat after bye weeks under this regime. I dont think that will be the case this time with added leadership and the upstanding defensive personnel. Would love to see fenner come back after the bye week. I hope we keep MO at sam. Move fenner to half. So fenner, and alexander start at half. Randle n fogg at corner. Then Id DI one of cooper and sayles. For my money cooper is more steady and sayles makes more big playes. Id roll with the hot hand and let them fight each week for that DI spot. Id probably lean towards sayles in the spot right now. Another option would be to adjust the ratio to start a nuck else where (wr/dl), put mo back at S (he had a whole bunch of plays where he was the deepest man against toronto with loffler under him) keep feener at sam and play both sayles and cooper as starters. Wouldnt be easy, especially if corney is still out and with how thompkins played. Then loffler would rotate in at Lber.

Saw a lot of times they had no deep man to help. At the game, after the late hit he was holding it and stretching it for a good while. That said it didnt seem to affect his throwing.

The bombers shut wilder down the previous week. The argos adjusted to what we did and took advantage. Trestman is a good coach. And its bloody hard to win back to backs because of this. Teams adjust, do you adjust out of some thing successful to some thing low use and risk out thinking your self? No doubt his offense is centered around a specific tool set. Also remember this offense was built around expecting ricky ray to be the starter. It takes time to make adjustments and fine tune it for some one else, especially with a different tool set. Franklin is still a good prospective qb1. He just isnt instant jesus. Streveler has moved the bar higher and franklin just isnt ready for it just yet. Offensive diversity is the name of our game this year. We have soo many guys we can lean on, weave in and feature you cant cheat too much to one guy or one aspect.

he did, and he did a better job getting rid of it the few times they got through. They sure countered our run blocking though. It seemed like harris was contacted in the back field on nearly every carry.

When does the bowman experiment end? (Bowman traded to Montreal)

Thompkins looked great. Seems to have instant chemistry with nichols too. I was hoping to see more petermann mixed in but if thompkins keeps it up he is gonna be tough to take off the field. -
Thompkins looks like a great find. Hope he keeps it up.

All good questions. He seems to lack all urgency in the pocket. So nonchalant taking the ball and holding it, throwing away in some bad spots. Yeah the location of our trick play calls is baffling some times. Miller indeed had another great game. Ogopogo was getting held on every other play. It was driving me mad. Jeffcoat also with a ton of pressure again tnite.

1 Big-knox. The combo was on fire tonight, but JSK was beasting like never before. 10 tackles 3 sacks. 2 Brandon alexander, A pic and a forced fumble, plus some great, great coverage tonight. 3 Demski, 5 catches 82 yards 1 td + our leading rusher 3 for 34 and another score. HH The reverse on the opening return by petermann. Guy has some jets.

Nichols v strevler and the hole in our offense.

The Ol has been beasting. The amount of run plays called this year is helping them do it as well. Those guys are loving life on the grid iron this year. -
Id rather see a camera on a drone like 20 yards behind the QB, or that wire camera the nfl uses some times.

his first move off the snap is insane. Ni or imp that dude explodes. dont care got paid. This happens far too frequently now. Just gonna be a thing when you have multiple people involved and social media. doesnt make it less stinky though. -

I think petermann is playing a different position though its probably an over look. Lankford is a fear for me. Though id take him over bowman, id rather play couture at TE full time. Id rather play wade at TE full time actually. I suspect of thompkins/washington doesnt pan out we will see the air lifts begin early. -

itll be like that northern league trade back in the early 2ks where a guy was traded for beer. they havent made use of the guys they have so i dont put much faith in it. -
Nichols v strevler and the hole in our offense.
wbbfan replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think he has the potential to make any pass, but still tossed up some that showed he still needed to get used to the game up here a bit. He also had the massive advantage of other teams not have footage or enough on him. Having that + being a running qb is deadily. Dont get me wrong, he is the best rookie cfl qb ive seen in ages. And I think he will eventually be a star in the league. But he isnt as ready as he seemed. He is however the most ready guy not starting already. What a great position to be in. And a new one for us. Idr the last time we had it this good. A very good qb, just under the elite tier with the best youngest back up and guy who looks like he will be a star. It was pretty clear streveler loved to spread the all around, but also had instant chemistry with wolitarsky. what is surprising is the gigantic difference in streveler attacking the middle vs nichols. I suspect a good part of that is the running threat. If the MLBer sticks on streveler that opens up the middle. If he doesnt that opens up lanes for streveler. In the first game edm did a pretty masterful job of using the mlber against him but he still played great. -

I expected some to miss the point and not go past the qb comparison, i didnt expect the majority to near entirety to do so. Way she goes i guess. Least you got it 😛 Game to game, and half to half our offense tends to play jekyll and hyde. A good portion of it comes from defensive adjustments to what we are doing, and the in ability to sustain such insane paces. When our offense clicks, we go no huddle and keep the plays varied the offense rolls over people in a hurry. Did some comparison splits last year its crazy. If we can use one more threat, that can move around tail back to wing to slot and allow us to motion harris around more as well we can keep up the offensive production. Also depending on plop not out thinking him self or us un characteristically shooting our selves in the foot repeatedly. -

What we got nichols for vs what we got for willy is insane. The mark of our management has really been shrewd deals. Weve hit and missed on vet fas, high up side young guys, but man we have crushed trades. -
This thread has some how been kind of lost in the sea of new threads this year. havent heard this any place else but it seems weve signed frederic plesius. NI, STs ace lber. Yep this is our kinda guy. Hope he can stay healthy. http://3downnation.com/2018/07/21/frederic-plesius-agrees-terms-bombers/

Some guys have that burning desire to win, and some guys dont. You cant replace it, you cant install it, and it can over come giant deficits in other areas. Wade miller made him self a nice career based on that and the right passport. -
29 touches must be a record for harris in a game.

drew willy could use a bit of buck pierces spirit and drive. -
Wanted to do this comparison when the time/reps got close to even. this is not about a QB controversy, rather its about gaps in our offense. Particularly with play calling and player usage. streveler 57/91 62.6% 615 yards 6td 2 ints 6.8 avg 33 rushes 230 yards 4 tds nichols 52/84 61.9% 621 yards 3 tds 3 ints 7.4 avg 1 rush 1 yard 1 td. Because nichols missed time and came back and had to fight off rust against teams a few weeks into the season Im gonna throw in the first 3 of his games from last year. 70/112 62.5% 826 5 tds 3 ints 7.35 17 rushing yards. Of course also worth noting is that harris is tearing it up. 610 rushing yards 5 tds 6.43 average + 100 yards receiving and 2 more td This time last year harris had 283 rushing yards and 4 rushing tds 317 receiving and 0 tds through the air. he hadnt had 100 yards rushing at this point last year in one game. hes flirted with it twice at half time this year alone. Last year we saw great success with mixing in flanders. Even though his direct touches were rather limited. He was used mainly as a gimmicky distraction due to weak imp wr talent. This year we have great talent at wr. The hole, as I see it is the loss of the flanders sets. We made up for it early with strevelers running ability. Which in it self is really hard to game plan for. We have made up for it a bit with demski, but with nichols back the final piece to our offense is that extra dimension. Our possession passing offense stretches the field more side line to side line then down field. Though we do well when we stretch the field because the defense is spread thin. What we really seem to need on offense to keep the performance consistent, rather then feast or famine is that extra dimension. Expanding on the bowman thread, I think the next step for our offense is to bench bowman and make far greater use of two backs. Flanders if healthy, lafrance if not. If the D can key on harris, our offense sputters mightily. The only game this year where harris had a great game (100 yards +) and we lost was the second bc game, a game we were routing but frequent un characteristic and freak mistakes and miss calls tossed away.

The league should really look at rules limiting teams ability to dump first round picks in consecutive years. like the nba has. its not that the first round picks have such a great ROI, but that it hurts the value of the draft and helps create long term NI talent problems in bad teams. -

Cmon now, leaf has a lucrative job now and actually gives pretty good public speeches. Now jamarcus russell... Moral of the story is, in the modern CFL you can never under estimate what a desperate team will do for a qb with a prayer of being good. Now lets trade one of our qbs for half a roster. -

Williams was a guy who could break any play into a score. Putting a guy like that in space making easy catches with our hard nosed down field blocking can be deadily. when ever a trade goes down in the cfl that involves this many starters its a big shock.
