Pretty much. Better (imp) MLBers came and went in the league. No better DT did though. Comparing different eras is un fair and borderline impossible to do justice. Mos was a different type of MLBer in a very different era. His greatest strengths were toughness (one of the toughest football players ive ever seen) preparation, work ethic, and football IQ. In his prime he wasnt the fastest, strongest or biggest MLBer. But he was among the best. And among the very best NIs in his era. One of the best all round football players. You could have gotten a better athlete who was better at rushing the passer, and covered more ground. But they wouldnt be a better player. mos wasnt some one you made the game easier for. He made the game easier for his teammates. KD williams in particular comes to mind. His athletic ability and nose for the ball was exceptional. The amount of tackles for a loss he made was insane. He was constantly getting in the back field, swatting down passes and making big plays. Heck of a teams guy too. More physically talented. But not the same type of player as mos. 1997-2008 mos missed 1 game. 13 seasons of playing 18 games and 1 of 17. This thread is badily suffering from a case of off-season-itus.

On bloody elbow they said it was all elliot declining the fight as a catch weight. Iirc they offered him full purse plus half. I dont understand that move. Years back at the amateur level when cutting wasnt wide spread (in some combat sports, it seems to have allways been present in wrestling) I could understand it. Facing a guy who is legitimately 2 divisions above you is a terrible idea. But in the modern era with every one cuttting, its strange to me. If he made the extra pounds and fought at the same weight he would have he would have still fought. Going through a camp then having a chance to still have the fight and saying no is mind blowing to me.

Miss the days of the full NL being disclosed, but with the advent of social media I guess it had to change. Flowers is an incredible play maker. Shades of michael vick on the run. The amount of tragedy and loss he has overcome is really heart wrenching. Hes a great runner with a good few questions left in his arm.

Loffler doesnt cover in the traditional way a S in the cfl would. As a part of our maligned MLBer use he plays a very shallow spot with out the deep cover assignment. His athleticism gets him in on the back end of long ball plays and some people think hes failed to come over and help. Is he our worst cover guy? Could still be. But not fair to judge him based on his deployment thus far. Hard to imagine him not being better playing The shallow cloud on a robber play. Hes not mo thats for sure. Not a guy Id like to see 1on1 with speedy wrs. But would he be a problem playing mid field in a 3 deep zone, or a quarter in 4 deep? nah. not at all. Heath and randle actually had rough ends to the year as well. They both got eaten up more then normal. Have to also keep in mind that rookie DBs will often make simple mistakes and any one in deep cover will have to cheat to their side. Rookie db shades the wrong way, bites on a fake/pump/pa/break, the deep cover sees it and has to adjust early creating openings else where. Ideally you deep cover over lanes created by shading of the man / matchzone etc, and stay on top of that lane till the ball is thrown. Having to give up position early gives the QB a considerable advantage. TLDR, our defense has spent a LOT of time covering up for personnel issues via scheme. Fix that and every one else will do better.

Nah we have to restock and take a guy who will go to the nfl and sit on a PR for a few years. We are far too low on those right now. Another year and the same talk of simonise. It certainly will be interesting floyd. Top tier athletic ability and size.
-
Heck of a fit too. Gray is his kinda guy. I wouldnt mind having em both back after a year with the browns.

Production sure. But on a bad team and bad D playing end thats easy to expect. Also, speedster wr passed 30 vs a DE at 28. Knapton doesnt have as much wear n tear, and has been durable. You can find speedsters easier then effective pass rushers imo. Yeah thats the truth. The argos arent gonna blow the doors off the TO sports scene. But they will be stable. BMO field, and MLSE is the best thing to happen to the argos in years. Including the GC.

a week isnt a big deal then imo. If bond was gonna sign a deal right now and by pass an nfl chance, itd cost a fortune. One of the best in the league, a mammoth of a man, And in his peak. Football players are allways 1 injury away from being done. at his age hes one season ending none career ending injury from his nfl dream being over. This is his prime window. 2 more years he probably wont get a look. he cant really show any better here then he already has. Short of taking bryants blind side tackle spot any way. Id love to have him in blue for the remainder of his career. But hes gotta take care of his and get that nfl money while he can.

I like williams, he just hasnt been used well. Not to mention BCs offense was down across the board seemingly. That said they over paid for him in a huuuuuuuge way.

Russia Banned From 2018 Winter Olympics by I.O.C.

Now they just need to ban the IOC from being involved in the Olympics. -
Watched geralds game on netflix. It was pretty damn good. Not for every one though. Its tense, hard to watch at the best of times, and very claustrophobic. But soo good.

Plop is a good teacher/leader type. But thats kinda similar to kharis tool set. Imo if khari is gonna come here he needs to stomp out the nepotism. He cant come here to replace buck and do the same quality job as buck because hes khari. For him self and for the franchise/fans. Hard to say beyond that if itd be a great fit for him here. Wouldnt be a terrible one. june jones in the hammer would be a good fit too. Id love to see khari become the next great OC and ride into wpg as the next great coach. But not so much as pure fan service.
-
Didnt say work with plop. He did some theater here, and was pretty good.
-
That would be great as a fan. Hed be great at it too. I dont see him progressing his skill set as a coach doing that though. Hes still (imo) a guy who is very good as a positional coach. And at 46, being a very good QB coach still leaves him with plenty of time to full fill his potential. In coaching its soo huge to find the right HC to work under and learn from. A guy like marc trestman would be a great fit. Due to khari rising to prominence as a pro soo late in life, then having his drop off soo sharp and sudden I feel like hes a guy who will continue to hammer away at coaching. I dont have any special insider knowledge or any thing. But I see him as a guy who wants to stay directly involved in the game and find the lasting high level of success he only glimpsed as a player.
-
I think khari needs to work with an XO guy. I fully believe in his ability to play call and adjust. But I think hes stuck in that young coach rut of Identifying a system to take ownership of. Khari the coach is a lot like khari the qb. Live and die by the long ball. Which isnt really repeatable today.

Here is hoping that the young blood HWs bring the best quality of fight we have seen in the divisions history. These guys are mostly right around the peak age for HWs so next year could be the year of the HW division in the ufc. Nope, but I am a bit relieved. I had a small gnawing fear gsp would agree to be thrown to some vicious wolves. Not mma, but Rigondeaux vs Lomachenko tonight. This is the big one for me this year (boxing wise) not a lot brings me back to boxing any more. This, and maybe one day wilder vs joshua.

Thats the damned truth. And I (like all blue fans who saw that era) love coach ritchie to pieces. the 'bod was a fan favorite. Blood n guts effort guy. But I think I once saw moe elewonibi out run him. To be fair though I think a buffet line was involved. NI perhaps. Imp, I would put my money on post injuries bobby gordon. Id very much like to see this. 2 more dis 2 more nis and maybe 1 or 2 more to the inactive roster. The less air lifts the better.

agree 100%. Its been a long time since i was much of a hockey fan. But even out side the nhl fan base the play off schedule is a head scratcher. My none fan 2cents would be to put the pedal to the metal. Have the first rounds go much faster with several games on at once. (ala march madness) And then slow it down with say the conference championships.
-
This is a good point. I seem to recall this idea being attributed to him but can not link it with ink. I hope its not true.
-
You are certainly correct in that he had a lot less to work with then hall. The guy made no adjustments though. I remember seeing us missing a gap in assignment early in the first quarter, then for the whole rest of the game . (b gap on the right side iirc) Ive heard it as a backhanded compliment, but never a lefty. Though i do kind of like the lefty version lol.
-
Hall might be hated now, but Id say he is still better then etch was imo.
-
Arent they talking about moving the start time of camp/the season again this year? I feel like they have changed soo many (or few but highly impactful things) the last few years. Id like to see a little bit of refinement but nothing big. The change in start times from when I was a kid to now is pretty intense. (or so it feels any way) Reign back in the PI calls, let dbs defend. Idk if any thing else.

Not too early to start hoping for walpurgisnacht and beltane presents. Just think warm thoughts.
-
He was claimed at the end of last year by the riders and not a FA iirc. Those two and nichols are pretty much a lock. Though last year MBT was in the same boat and never ended up back here. But at that, 3 arms and normally you bring in 4. Maybe a 5th so the two young guys arent needed as much for work at the start of camp. Sooo youre saying there is a chance? Weve cut guys and brought em back before. But the way he went out I dont think its at all probable. Better chance of us signing khari to play qb.

Yeah he fits the system, he fits the mentality, and has the work ethic.. He clearly has the talent and ability to be a high level starter in this league as well.
