  1. BBDB isnt like some old scheme. Pre argos GC run, who ran it in the cfl? It may well be garbage (it sure isnt strong) but it certainly isnt out dated. Defending the first down yardage on 2nd down can be done in a shell as well. It can be done, if it can be gotten away with idk. Certainly you can play more aggressive with coverage then we do, every one else in the league does. Couple dbs? heath, randle alexander etc not an issue imo. I think our guys can run any system we want pretty much. Maybe we will need to look at an experience sam in the off season to insure against Mo possibly being done.
  2. The last fist full of weeks the front 7 has certainly been aggressive. Though we dont have that pass rushing Lber. Now that is an out dated role in the cfl. Loffler is sure aggressive enough, and the dbs jumping balls. I hope hope HOPE they revert the PI. Or atleast dial it back a notch or three. Allow football to be a contact sport down field, and make physically aggressive DB play viable.
  3. Damon allen? He had a whole lot of meh passing years as well. I think at best he could be a nealon greene / kerry joseph / micahel bishop type/quality. Though he doesnt have the raw tools of bishop or joseph in his arm or greene in his legs.
  4. Idk about out dated. It might even be the right system for right now. With the current state of PI in the league, playing tight man coverage is liable to just get you a TON of flags. The basic bend but dont break / match zone / zone blitz scheme might be the way to go. Im a big believer that aggressive football is good football. But you cant play aggressive coverage right now. Im also of the thought that no matter who we had at DC up to current under mos, we would run BBDB coverage. Blitzing, alignment, gap assignments, DL Techs etc would change but not the basis of the D. But as weve seen mos get more involved in the D this year weve seen those things infringed upon. Weve seen more complicated zones, blitzs, and more un leashing of our DL. The biggest example I can think of this is our using dbs in blitzs. That said, given the choice of cover 0 or a BBDB type defense that relies on the dl to get pressure, id rather see cover 0.
  5. Here is an interesting bit of food for thought. Bend but dont break systems rely heavily on tackling, and on the range of a MLBer. If we replaced hurl with a better then league average starter quality imp mlb, and played them in the appropriate role of a BBDB mlber, would that improve the D more or less then firing hall? A mlber that could cover more ground, do a better job filling the gaps and stopping the run, would also also loffler to play deeper. More of a traditional saftey less of a back of the box LBer. Hall makes good adjustments, But the team can start out flat under him. Weve run with low depth at DB, hamstrung him with poor lbing, and fought the poop+nevis combo up the middle for a long time. (mostly due to ratio issues) On the other hand our dbs would force a lot more incomplete passes with tighter coverage. More effective blitzs, and better use of personnel would help a good bit too.
  6. Yeah if he is 100% that is fantastic. The nature of his hand injury id worry more about rust, which isnt as big an issue at qb.
  7. lil'knox i assume? Hes actually been really good on teams the last few weeks. Above the norm for him. Idk how we could go down to only 6 lbers for 2 (actual) lber spots... thats just crazy talk.
  8. Thats a good bet. We like to gamble with depth at WR/db./rb, If fogg is chasing zylstra its gonna be a bad day. Our defense is all about giving up the under, and being in position to come up and play on the ball/tackle. If fogg sags on him he has all the quicks in the world to eliminate that height advantage and snag the ball away. And the hands too. Hes a guy with all the talent, he just needs to figure out how to put it together. Teams and wrs have adjusted to him and he has to figure it out. If he does he will have a long successful career.
  9. 26 man games missed this year on that DL. Chick willis and hunt combine for 12 sacks. and 15 up the middle. We have a combined 15 off the edge, not including westerman (7). Our edge rushers are deeper, younger and better imo. We combine for 10 sacks up the middle. No doubt the moes have the sack advantage, but at the same time no DT in the league has more pressures then poop. No doubt in my mind the 2 best Dls in the league going at it. To a close 3rd. Over all, Id take our D too. randle, heath, loffler, JSK we dont play a flattering system but the talent is strong.
  10. About what i had hoped for. Short of a miracle come back to health by bond, or darvin adams. Foketi in place of neuf and both jfg/coates starting wouldnt have been bad. But G isnt too bad to try and cover up 1 guy on the line. The moes DL is healthy, but at what % will they play? 1 week off is tough, these guys missed a TON of football this year. 3 keys to victory for me 1 Great tackling. Often when we give up big, back breaking plays we had a chance to make the tackle and missed. When we tackle well, our D plays well. Some big plays happen, great athletes and players will do that. But if we can wrap em up, gang tackle and not settle for arm tackles and sell out for hits itll be a good day for bomber fans. 2 limit 2 and outs. We need to pound the rock an establish physicality in the game. Let the banged up OL go out and mash. Take pressure off a less then 100% nichols. Put the rusty edm D on their heels. 3 Play 4 quarters on O, teams, and D. Weve seen too often where the D doesnt find its groove till half way through the first or later. If they start fired up and keep the pedal to the floor we will be in great shape.

  12. Yeah it is bold. pretty out there. but i hold to it.
  13. That or a fresh legged kick return type. A big strong guy probably wont make a lot of use of it. But to be fair, our fly sweep is soo well known it doesnt surprise any one. Its not like it will bust a huge gain. The longest i can recall this year is 15 yards. Maybe flanders lined up as the wing. Or givens, hes got a good mix of speed and size.
  14. Yeah fly sweep and short under / over the middle stuff is brutal. I wish wed atleast stop the fly sweep with him.
  15. You are correct.
  16. The 1 and only problem is his health. Dont think any one in bomber land has a lack of love for the guy.
  17. the 01 team was better, but the offense was not. No im not 16 lol? but putting 2001 ahead of 2002 makes me wonder if you are 17. Cus 2000 wr core was all world. blink had 1 td in 2001. Sellers was here in 2002/2003. No, add 1 elite wr and our offense is better. Dressler, adams + new elite wr. Best rb in the league, one of the best and deepest OLs (our OL got thin quickly in the khari era. while we got better else where it wasnt on the line) And khari tossed 46 tds, but people forget the 29 picks. Khari + milt + bruce + blink + sellers is an incredible start to an offense. But a lack luster OL, and little to no depth after that.
  18. https://www.bluebombers.com/2017/11/09/bombers-680-cjob-announce-partnership-extension/ Slightly surprised bob isnt retiring, but I sure am glad. Hope he got as large a bonus as possible with out crashing our budget.
  19. Im heavily inclined towards pitchers. I loved the pace he set and maintained, the way he performed against the best teams, his rebirth from being sent back down and turning into a GB focused pitcher. But still getting a ton of Ks.
  20. Over passed to, under run, and generally used un creatively.
  21. 2nd that. We stick it out, a tough group of people. Patient and optimistic, nah. I dont know how we could be given the 2 dark ages from the late 90s to mid mos era. With all too brief returns to respectability. 2 years is even high. Because of that we may have reason to hope that he will turn the corner and become an elite OC. Not holding my breath but i am hoping. This offense (talent wise) is 1 high tier wr away from being maybe the best in my life time. Top to bottom it would be a juggernaught.
  22. You evaluate by being an OC and getting fired for lack of production with a core like that. You have to judge a CO by their over all success. Plops offense has been an issue and under whelming each time through. He was a better HC and player coach then system guy. Its funny cus the media paint him as an X n O genius, the second coming of Mouse Davis or some thing. Partly increased by his TSN work. Im not saying hes bad at Xs n Os. The execution and play calling has been consistently poor. Getting away from harris and the run, not making good use (or any direct use much of the time) of DIs, constantly faking stuff but not actually progressing to the new wrinkle to keep the defense from cheating, not adapting the play calling to fit different pieces (ie qbs) every game hammering dressler through the jet sweep / fake, out thinking himself play calls etc. A great OC on a bad team happens. When it does you tend to see players in positions to make plays, but not making them. I would give specific bomber examples here, but TBH we have not had a great wealth of OC minds in the last 20 years. Plop is among the better on the list, though I dont suggest looking too hard at our list of OCs in that era, its as depressing if not more then looking at the QBs. OC by committee? Seriously? Its hard to say what players will progress into being good coaches. Some times a guy like khari who seems tailor made to be great at it, never shows much. And guys like tee martin, and brady do it very well. Great coaches seem to be hungry and self motivated. I read recently that mike martz and his staff with the rams would watch every play from the week they could find. cfl, nfl, ncaa, even us HS. And if they saw a good fresh play they would call the coaching staff, even make trips down to meet with the staff on occasions.
  23. That chart is utter bunk. Just head shaking, earth shattering, soo stupid it gives me forrest whitaker eye silly.
  24. No kidding. Bond + hardrick drawing into the line up was massive. People need to go back and look at those early games from last year. That OL was dismal.
  25. Flanders was mostly playing a slot/flanker/wing position and motioning into the back field post snap. Harris was also tearing it up pretty good before flanders drew in for good. Good threats open up more holes. But weve seen flanders carry the team on his back pushing the pile for 5 yards etc. Flanders makes the offense better, but if he was actually used and it would be better still.
