you can over come it, just like dan marino. But its harder. You cant say robert horry is better then lebron because of rings. But it does count for some thing that he has soo many. 191 catches 2808 yards 14.7 average 68 long 11 tds over 9 seasons. http://www.justsportsstats.com/footballstatsindex.php?player_id=stoddjam001&recsort=5

They had the money for simon or gordon and went with gordon. Simon seemed like a flight risk to the nfl. Gordon played under milt really well the previous year. But it ended up gordon was a flight risk to the AFL. Cant say arland bruce solo blocked simon, when we had simon and aj3, and milt and gordon previously.

No instead you come on here, bash every thing but the green. very different.... No. The riders are not as good as any team in the league this year. your starting qb was replaced by masoli twice, who is pretty average. whats his record in the last 18 starts? The riders are average in the west. Better then bc. Toss up with edm. A bit behind a healthy wpg team, and we are all still looking up at the stamps and down on the east. During the regular season any way. The sooner bridge becomes starter the better chance the riders have to pass edm.

people werent exactly lining up at plops door remember. we pulled him out of the booth. I could see plop and mos wanting similar money on the next deals though.
-
Maybe he goes to the PR to start learning to play guard.
-
I dont doubt some team would give up some thing for him. Though not much. More then any one else he needs a monster performance in bc. Id like to see him start and give him a full quarter. Give him every chance to shine and do some thing. Ir and 2 man in active list we dont have to activate 4 ni wrs. But petermann and demski can play teams right away. Simonise has had some return experience. I cant see using a DI on a return man and carrying 4 ni wrs though. I also dont see all 4 staying healthy all year. Simonise hasnt played a lot of football in the last few years. Demski hasnt been able to stay healthy. Just the jump from cis schedule to cfl with tc and pre season is gonna be hard for ptermann, especially playing teams and wr. No doubt we have to keep all 4 protected.

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?

mmm listed as cut idk if he requested to be released. 🙄 you seem to be the one most interested in peoples arms... He doesnt lack any physical passing tool. Accuracy, touch, strength etc. He had and has a complete lack of experience playing above the HS level. 90% of his action out side of one (partial?) year at college is pre season action in the nfl and cfl. * about one years worth of games spread over 4 seasons and two college teams. looked bad last year in brief action for them. this tc and pre season he has been on fire. too many people think that if a wr can dive fully lay out and touch a ball with the tips of one finger its easily catchable. game of inches. you always lose by small margins at many points through out the game. The big finish after is what people remember, a bad call a missed play but every team that loses had atleast 10 plays earlier in the game where they could have changed the out come. -
I do agree with that, but I dont have any data to put the coaching salaries into perspective. For all I know thats double what every team spends. In all likelihood it is a bit low. 11 coaches, 1 HC, 1 CO for O and D, 1 for STs, that leaves 7 spots for positional coaching. Qb, ol, DL, lbers, dbs, wr, and rb. Some teams will have WR/rb, or qb/wr, lb/de etc. So the number of spots makes sense. The average is a shade under 100k. Im sure Hcs, and high profile oc/dc / assistant HCs will make much larger chunks then that. But it seems like a good starting place. Is it strange? yes no doubt. We cant really compare to other sports. The cfl just doesnt fit the mold of other teams. What I expect this will mean is every team will use more cis types at a cheaper salary to fill out some positional/depth spots. If you want to point fingers, look at the coaching staff/management that has spent like drunken sailors, broken abused and battered countless rules and brought this about.

wow not a fan of the end bit of that. More league wide money on scouting means more/better talent in the league which is more money for every one... Might be due in part to a certain teams management indulging soo heavily during the draft combine...
-
Overall they have improved in terms of talent. However as to position to win with collaros I think they are worse off right now. Atleast until bridge is the starter. The run down of troubled former stars from down south who havent performed is long as well.If you are gonna field a team like the jailblazers, you gotta make it count. Playing carter both ways is maybe a short term improvement but medium term a real detriment.

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?

I would perhaps add MBT to the list of qbs who didnt get a fair shake here. That said I think he is far more likely at this point (despite giving franklin a serious run for his money in tc and pre season) to be a professional hanger oner then a go to starter or even a no2. Weve been fast to bring in and spit out young qbs under this regime. And while it may mean they didnt show us what we wanted or showed a fatal flaw, or it could show a disconnect between the scouting dept and coaching, the fact a few of our young off cuts have bounced around after us with out getting much reps here says some thing about the talent and fact we didnt give em much of a chance. We had one maybe two years ago with a huge pedigree, brought much excitement but was cut a week or two later to bounce around a bit as well. Its not saying these guys are stars, but that we arent giving them much of a chance. I wasnt a D davis fan, but we didnt give him a chance to develop late in blow out games either. We have frequently made questionable talent decisions. Clearly we are not privy to the decision making process. Cases like frederick, thorpe etc are explainable. But kuale, hurl, newf, roc et al are not. -

Yes I think it was baggs. good call.

Possibly a bigger version. Its no secret on D we are all about the athletes. We love the freaks of nature.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

Both the new xfl and the what ever they are calling the other one, have some legit american names attached to it. If they went in on it together rather then trying to compete with each other they'd really have some thing. -
I think we did. That guy was such an odd duck. Idr his name but we had a DE at one point that was bow legged and pigeon toed too. Nah. Use trent corney. Who is gonna cover a guy that big and that fast, and who is gonna tackle him.
-
the 'bod? you know he is a shoe in... Mike sellers too. 908/1,020 yards from scrimmage while playing next to blink + 40 teams tackles and some amazing work blocking. If we could have kept that back field combo together blink would have held up longer and so would khari.
-
The whole DLplayed great. jeffcoat was maybe the most quiet but when every one else is beasting and you only have one QB to rush lol. A return of nevis' best football and poop getting even better is a scary thought.
-
agree. Like the guy as a person and all, but the last couple years post injury he was a real dud. Really thin era for WRs long term no doubt. Though in the short term we saw the likes of geroy, AJ3, arland bruce3 etc. Id a put mike sellers in before flash gordon. Its a thing crop of wrs, I just wouldnt put in a wr from that era. Tom europe, elfred peyton, harold nash (all time leader in PKDs when he retired) Juran bolden is debatable (parts of 4 seasons here two stints that saw him return to the nfl) etc. Also at some point we either have to dig really deep to try and put some one into the BB HOF, or we have to skip a year or a few. Id rather us skip and hold the honors for truly elite players.

i dont have any worries about elliott. tbh Idk any of those qbs in that era were worth worrying about. -

If they wanted an extra arm I think they could have grabbed an aged out NI, or a few try out guys. plus 5 arms is a lot. I think it was a reaction to the level of play mahoney brought. He was well behind at the hop. I hope soo too. Though I kind of feel like he might be a guy who should have taken a college position change. Im a big fan of mobile qbs as your back up. Some truth to that. With rookies / developmental guys for sure. Its not just consistency coaching though, its a chance to get their feet wet. When a game is a blow out in the 4th qt one way or another you need to use that chance to get a guy in. We havent done a good job of that in the mos era. And not just at QB. Great teams develop talent. Good and worse teams have talent slip between their fingers or waste it. We were a bad team, and became a good team. Now we need to take the step up to becoming a great team. -
Its a bit different player to player, how quickly they adapt and hit a base knowledge level to be effective players. But after a year, a qb should be at that level. The game is soo decision oriented, soo fast, and hard on qbs if it takes more then a year for the lights to come on its a bad sign. Not saying ross is at that point, but agreeing being in a dog fight, even slightly behind a guy with out that first TC and years worth of practices + a start is a big deal. It also doesnt help that his pre season performance looks very much like his regular season performance last year. It is still early though and nichols was a late bloomer too.
-
In that case it depends on what ross does. If ross poops the bed again he may be gone. With bennetts experience in our offense and with our core id say he is no2 and streveler no3. Mean while we pound the ground looking for a PR qb. Maybe some one cut from another camp. If Ross lights it up its more difficult. In that case I think all 4 stick around. bennett with his experience would be a lock for a roster spot imo if he has a good game in bc. Id say streveler goes to the PR / IR for a short stint while soaking up more of the coaching of plop and the playbook. ross is less likely to be snapped up as well imo. If its a mixed bag of out comes, better then average for ross back to human numbers for streveler and bennett shows some flashes (imo this is the most likely situation) we again keep all 4. Again streveler is a guy who can benefit from just being coached and having time to watch and study. We dont need him to be on the active roster for him to improve. Id hide streveler on 1 games for a couple weeks and let ross get more practice reps to see if he is a guy we want to keep around. We know streveler has the potential and some ability to full fill atleast part of that potential. He may not become a starter or a star or any thing. But at worst he can provide package use age and the unique look on scout team for our D to prep. If ross doesnt have what it takes to pass at the pro level (weve seen plenty of accomplished college spread offense passers go belly up here like kliff kingsbury) he falls out of usage instantly. I was thinking a bit about that. More teams seem to be doing this then ever. I was thinking the opposite though. With the in ability to have old school TCs and practices maybe its more valuable to play the vets more so they go into the regular season tuned up and ready to roll. Id be in favor of sitting nichols, let him coach and watch. Start the A team OL. they need ironing out. Sit dressler for sure. Adams has been kinda quiet in camp I might play him. But for him health is some thing worth preserving as well. Id sit harris, play demski et al. Id play bighorn to try and get him more accustomed to our team and the system. Sit loffler, randle and fenner. start JSK and the DL. let the DL continue to gel and set expectations high for them.

I think we will see a DE rotation again. Atleast for a while. Dt, is bryant even healthy? Cant make the club from the tub. Money is tight, DL is deep faith needs to become productive for his pay this year. We know jake thomas gives us a lot as a depth canadian and can start if needed. Augustin, I think his versatility and teams play will get him on the roster. Fills a need. Especially if lafrance isnt good to go. Qb will be interesting to continue to watch un fold. Speller is also in the mix. Newf and to a lesser extent couture are on the hot spot. Hope hardrick is healthy. briere I feel like will end up doing some punting for us this year, or maybe he will sit on the pr like castillo for a while. I think he is the future. The NI wrs are a good watch for sure. The real battle is gonna be the ones under our big 3 young guns. One of those guys atleast is gonna be around. And they are all in a dog fight. DB is another dog fight. Soo many vets and young guys. seisay if healthy, sayles, and cooper, for the new guys and the ex leos. One is likely to start while mo is recovering, one a DI, and one or two on the PR/scratch list. 6 guys, one starting spot one back up and a whole lot of risk after that. I think fogg has solidified his spot so far, but yeah its a lot of guys for not a lot of spots. Jones is good enough imo, but idk if we have the back up for him. Though I do like morgan I dont think he is ready. And I think the battle at imp db is thick.
-
I think thats pretty much why he was brought back. He could easily and smoothly slot in as qb 2 or 3 with minimal time and reps. Low risk high reward insurance policy. If they didnt want him as a third stringer, I dont think theyd a brought him into camp soo late when we had 4 qbs. In the past weve had our starter play large amounts of time. But maybe they will shy away from that like last weeks game. If nichols and the O rolled for tds over the first few series Id park him early. Or if he was getting rocked. Other wise id give him the first quarter, and the first drive or two of the second half. Id give bennett the second quarter, the second coming of 17 what ever was left of the 3rd after nichols. Then Id give ross the 4th, but with a short leash. If he played poorly Id give bennett/streveler extra reps based on who needed it.
