  1. Ya wouldnt have paid what he got from the riders.
  2. Thorpe was brought in as a return man and is highly decorated at it. So no. Yeah i agree. But there is a right way to do things and then the pout and go home way. Frederick also. the amount of time some guys have sat in the face of inferior players (jsk, hardrick, bond, poop, jeffcoat, etc) is staggering. Look at the players weve brought in, let go and are on other teams. Talent and skill are far from the first thing our coaching staff looks at. Its frequently over ridden by all kinds of other factors. At some point you need superior skill and talent to win. I would wager far more championships have been won based on talent and skill then character. Maybe in every major sport as well.
  3. Yeah he is, another guy who could use a different team. messing around with richardson makes no sense.
  4. as much as i hate the crieders, i want to see bridge succeed. Id much rather see it happen else where though. is he a pending FA?
  5. The way stankford gave up on that ball got my goat pretty good. Im generally the last person to blame a WR, but that was inexcusable. He did on the field what thorpe did off it.
  6. not ideal no. But going into the play offs healthy (hope fully) and with 12 wins is pretty dang good. Its also why hosting the west semi is huge. We could win any or all of those games. I dont see us winning less then 2 though. and dont call me surely. leslie nielsen couldnt resist.
  7. The offense has been very steady at 30+ points this year. I agree, i think wed a found a way to scrape out a win with nichols.
  8. 2-2. Split with bc beat toronto. Back ups vs back ups in calgary i imagine.
  9. OB also reported they were looking heavily at his wrist too.
  10. Not much positive tnite. But here goes. 1 Don jonas. The pregame show contract to retire a bomber and him asking how much he was gonna make was hilarity. 2 The refs. fantastic job tnite. 3 Richie hall. Best defensive co ever? HH, that trick play direct snap to darvin adams was awesome.
  11. I dont tune in for the full thing any more. Normally half hour to 45 mins. I happened to start earlier today. Soo glad i did, best pre game show moment ever.
  12. On the OB pre game show, don jonas is signing a contract to retire as a winnipeg blue bomber. Bob asked him if hed want to do it? He was all for it. Wade brought in the contract. Bob said this is the same contract every player signs (but for one day) and Don said, how much do i get? Bob let out a hell of a laugh and wade said once a player allways a player with a chuckle. Oh man what a great moment. One for the archives for sure.
  13. that is certainly the key world LOL. man he was something. The most average passer to ever win games.
  14. Like what big games pray tell? And how many RBs have big games in the clutch and see their team lose?
  15. blink on little sleep post party was better then all but a small handful of rbs in football history. Saw him at teasers at like 2am well in the swing of enjoying him self the day of a game with the riders. He turned a loss into a 40 yard or longer run and scored a td on the first drive. 01 was blinks rookie year too. remember harris' rookie year? 0 yards. That 01 flop had a lot behind it. The whole team was flat and either woke up too late into the game or not at all. Its the only time i can remember bob cameron having a punt blocked.
  16. Id still take blink. Harris is a guy you mix in and chip away at the defense with. Blink is a game changer. Like milt he is a guy who can single handedly win you games. Which out side of QB is exceedingly rare. A glancing look twice harris' longest run of the year was over 50 yards. Blink had that almost every year. 49 one year in the middle, first and last years here where he didnt play a full season less then that. with a higher peak. 01-08 10,285 rushing, 69 rushing tds, 3396 receiving 13 tds 10+ tds and 1700 yards from the line of scrimmage a year. 11-17 6,026 rushing 36 tds, 3988 receiving 24 tds 8.5 tds a year 1430 yards from the line of scrimmage. Plus blink was a much better return man. Didnt count harris first year, but did count blinks first, last etc. Blink also spent a lot of time sharing touches. Keith stokes, mike sellers, blount etc his first year. The time before we brought bond and hardrick into the starting position when our OL was playing awful harris was averaging like sub 2 yards per carry. We saw blink run for 1500 in years with Ols that bad or worse. Id put forward that the comparison isnt really fair. This is like comparing ben cahoon to milt or geroy. Harris vs mike sellers is more interesting and fair imo.
  17. Cant say for sure, normally would worry about wild cat usage. But with a flanders + harris offense + our smith package its actually and advantage. I think at best they pick one of these guys commit to him and hes the 4th in camp next year. More likely both are gone in a few weeks ala apodaca and many others.
  18. Id look, pray and do terrible horrible things for a NI thats a side grade to one of our imps so we could end the hurl time. Would also look for a MLBer then. I wouldnt other wise look too hard at LBer, wild will get healthy, as will mo, and JSK looks better every game. If dressler is out, would look at a WR. Might look at a returner/wr to push/replace lankford.
  19. Blink and its not even close. He played behind OLs that our current back ups would be starters on. Maybe the better of the starters too.
  20. Im sure milt thought so too...
  21. Good release, quick foot work, good arm in general. See some dropping of the arm angle, and some flippy dippy type risky plays that wont keep you in reps at the pro level. Strong and quick enough though looks like a good athlete. Like that hes seen a lot of gun/pistol and isnt out of sorts throwing on the run. Wow washington looks raw. Too bad he didnt get to stay at QB and develop the whole time. Throws a nice catchable ball, good accuracy and touch. Its a bit surprising considering his foot work and release point / arm angle look a bit erratic. Could be a fantastic throw on the run guy eventually. carries the ball low a lot. Neither have blow your socks off stuff. But both have some upside. Washington has the most upside and the most work.
  22. I allways liked kelly malveaux. He and anthony malbrough really laid the lumber.
  23. Jamarcus russell isnt that big of a bust. He was that bad of a pick in a draft with out a clear cut no1. In general QBs are very low percentile. Its rarer for a top 5 qb to become a franchise qb than it is for them to miss. Some positions pro rate better and worse then that. But RB is handily the easiest transition. Not to mention the greatest position of wealth in terms of football talent. Qbs and tackles are often coddled in the the start of their career. Wrs are pampered with offenses tailored to them. Dbs have an expectation of adjustment as well. But rbs, are supposed to step in and perform. Drafting a RB top 5 is a move to get help now. Missing as a QB is like your lotto ticket not winning. Off the top of my head, the biggest nfl draft busts short list would be Richardson, charles rogers, lawrence phillips, bryan bosworth, and courtney brown. (You can make a case for nearly every browns pick in my life time) The bos is about the cutting line for me in terms of injured guys. Tim couch, kijana carter bo jackson etc dont go down as busts for me. Jamarcus russell and ryan leaf may have been the worst picks in history. The massive pile of red flags surrounding leaf leading up to the draft its staggering that he still went no2. From blowing off the colts interview and work out to the circus of his pro day, to the partying none stop in vegas. I get how the raiders FK up and draft russell. Its what they do at the draft.
  24. Manziel was a 22nd pick. Tony mandarich didnt live up to the hype, but ended his career protecting the blind side of peyton manning and doing a good job of it.
  25. maybe the biggest bust in nfl history. 2 major knee surgeries. Hes nothing like ricky williams. In the right system and given time i think ricky williams would have done a lot better.
