Idk about several years. Striking is the art that takes the longest to hone, and doesnt have a hard diminishing returns. (though i am pretty biased towards striking, I dont think the finite levels of grappling/bjj translate much or at all to mma) But at this age time is not on his side any way. That division is bordering on putrid now though too. In a case like this, im all for having exciting money fights. Id rather that then him be pushed as a serious contender. Give me saki vs belfort, silva, and or lyoto. God knows belfort sans trt looks rough. Maybe a return to LHW would suit him well. Hell have the fight in brazil with all the Brazilian supplements and testing. If gus loses to dc then thatd be a good one, money for gus. I love that match up. Glover? sign me up for that too.

Carmicheal gone for remainder of the season

I would pay top dollar to see milt and hill do 1 on 1 drills with dunigan throwing the ball. Shut up and take my money, money. Rod hill is one of the greatest bombers the city/ culture of the team has been lucky enough to have. Walby and rod no 1 and no 2. Khari was high on that list some time ago as well. -

Id say bolden was one of those guys who was on another level, even from greats but for a very short period of time. Its a lot harder to do it in the cfl every years for many years on end. You take a real beating up here. ^ this. Id also throw out there that less browne was on a similar level to rod hill. Young marvin coleman was crazy good. Once upon a time he was a deadily return man, and an absolute pick 6 fiend. I mean 13 total tds in his career. As a db/returner. I feel like a ton of guys dont get credit, but db is one of the harder positions to name an all time great at. (even down south with guys like night train lane) Db is harder to play now then ever before. There was a time whe na DHB played more like a saftey then any thing else on every down. Now its a full time cover spot. Same with the sam (mo) lber spot. -
No. Bad noeller. When you change from a white any thing or male to any minority (even if they arent really a minority, any thing else will do) its edgy, interesting, and instantly an oscar finalist. When it goes the other way its typical bigoted patriarchal race washing / man ruining.

His raw tool set is phenomenal. That said his accuracy is poor, as are his release, and ability to read and re act to what the D shows and does at the snap. Some of his tools and his college experience in the pistol / spread would shine up here. At the same time he would probably lead the league in picks if he started for a season. If we signed him, id be happy. But i wouldnt expect him by any means to supplant matt nichols as starter in a straight up best starter plays camp. Hes henry burris 2.0. A better, younger version. But not much better. -

wooooooowwwww. If/when they can im I wonder if the league will/should punish the als. Cus thats not some thing the league can stand by. Id hate to see the franchise/fans of the als punished for reed being a dumb ass. Does it hurt to suspend a guy who after this year probably wont be in the cfl again? I think collaros will be a 2nd domino to fall. As in after the franklin fiasco finishes up the losers of that sweep stakes will get him and claim he was their guy the whole time any way. And yeah TO makes a lot of sense. -

Idk that event, which was settled as a dismissal based on him doing anger management courses smacks of what happened involving mike smith (trailer park boys fame) more then a ray rice type incident. You are hands down right about skill. That makes every thing forgivable. Like jamal lewis, former RB with the ravens who had a very horrid "domestic assault" swept under the carpet. Or ray lewis. Who did even worse. If gronk was north bound, you know hed have no trouble. Same with a younger ray lewis. I just want consistency really. If we are gonna be purists and turn away players as a league on a moral stand point, be even with it. And dont let utter jack asses run around in the league at current. id much rather see them worry mid season about head shots, late shots out of bounds/in the end zone, and such things. Art biles, i totally get. I think every one was on the same page about him. Id be all in favor of the league exploring and cementing a set of ground rules for players in the off season. That said, I dont see how some one with charges dropped/acquired can be treated as guilty despite the legal out come in a moral sense. And if some one has a bad history, shouldnt we be all about giving them a second chance? Isnt the cfl really a second chance league for import players? -

Reminds me of onterrio smith. Ricky williams was 10x the rb richardson is. Maybe more. And 10x better fit in the cfl. I would take most of the back up rbs in the league over him, and a few NI fbs. Not a fan of the guy at all. 2 knee surgeries before his rookie year started. Poor vision (see his legendary meme), hes a hybrid back. Doesnt have even average speed now. Good power for his size, but not any where near messam power. Doesnt have the agility or change of direction quickness. In college he was a systems back, with an excellent run blocking OL. Only the every down/feature back one year. Hes like soo many denver broncos backs during their zone blocking era. A TON of guys nation wide could have had the same success he had on the same team. With how often the riders run the ball it makes even less sense. Whats the upside for them? He isnt even the vince young of rbs. Maybe the biggest first round RB bust of all time. I like cam marshall. As much as i can any rider player. I hope he gets healthy and back into action and gets him self another NFL sniff. I dont get why manziel gets hammered in the press soo hard. Whats the difference off field wise between him and gronk? If they kicked out every guy in the league who had similar problems to him in their past we MIGHT have enough players to field 2 teams. -
Brains too. But hey, all frederick did was cover like a blanket. Didnt play teams.
-
We could still have activated him to our active roster and blocked them from taking him.

Who has the better team: Calgary or Winnipeg?
wbbfan replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
With the way our secondary has played of late, if we get poop back in the starting lineup I think its a lot closer then that. Agree with this. We are fighting to lock up a home play off game. Imo, we allready have at worst the cross over spot. Not mathematically impossible that we miss. But would be pretty crazy. agree soo much with this. The week off is a huge trap. -
ehh prospects of reasonable value get pretty big signing bonuses these days. the top 100 prospects at or below AA all out earn a big number of current NHLers. But when you look at the guys who arent in that tier, the ones like the young cflers trying to make a go of it its a great comparison. The lions tried to claim spooner. He would have started, and got that starters money. A real chance to be a now guy. But he passed on it to stay here and continue to develop. Thorpe left, taking no pay and no spot else where instead of sitting on the PR. With his play he deserved to be on the roster. But some times that just isnt enough. If he quits for ego, he isnt the type of guy a team needs around. We wont ever know the real case. Heavens knows weve made curious and head scratching talent decisions before and will continue too. I hope all goes well for thorpe, so long as it doesnt hurt the blue.

Calgary has the better team. But in the clutch/play offs when you need to win id take our team. -
Why isn't the Bombers #5 jersey retired?
wbbfan replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
the real question is why doesnt any one rock the 00? Harold nash had the best number ever. -
That stuff happens. Some thing similar happened with kerry joseph. He had last played saftey as well. But those cases are rare. Also, our team is run differently. Being as we are a play off team our existing player talent isnt an issue (in general) and mos is a players coach. It isnt easy to lose your job as a vet on this team. Thorpe easily out played a couple of our wrs, but was the one who got sent packing. Air lifts arent as common as they used to be. In part because the general talent level of the league is higher then it was 20 years ago. And also (in part because of that fact) teams dont fall out of contention nearly as early as they used to. So wide sweeping desperation moves arent common. Rb is also maybe the most plug and play position. Not soo much is demanded of RB as it once was. In terms of number of touches any way. And it has the highest talent level + availability. You cant just dig up a DB with excellent coverage skills. But you can dig up a RB who can make the first guy miss / or break the tackle fairly easily. It also has to do with the ease of getting a RB the ball. A wr has to run a good pattern, beat coverage, get a good pass then catch it. A rb gets handed the rock.

The gap between the median and average is sad. And so is the amount of people under 20k. Iirc players get a housing stipend, or housing food etc. Its not the life one would associate with a pro athlete. But its not some one working 3 part time min wage jobs trying to make ends meat. I would like to see them make more, I think we all would. The dollar conversion is tough too. Paying out in USD could cause serious trouble in tough times. And bumping pay with out increasing league revenue could be just as dangerous. Really have to hope for the league to grow. Realistically, a strong turn around for the argos franchise would go a long long ways in the next TV deal. Which will be a big difference maker. The story of guys from AFL/AFL2 especially from the PR down there (back in the day) is scary. Living off next to nothing, PB sandwiches, full time work borrowing money to go to try outs and open camps.
-
does that count against the cap? If you pay over the 750. average pay isnt a good tool though. Id bet more then a weeks pay far more then half the population makes far less then that average. I would like to see more money for Pr guys though. And for players in general. The sub star to lower tier stars (randell. mo etc) dont make nearly enough for the toll taken on their bodies for playing.
-
Is it still the case that teams have the right to pay PR guys the same as if they were on the roster? Used to happen a whole lot. Not sure how it works or if it does at all with the cap.
-
thats the truth. especially coming off such a long lay off. Makes me a lil nervous for GSP. i really really really dont want to see him lose to bisping. His cardio is generally excellent, but being out of the ring that long is a huge detriment.
-
blaszko is also a good NI prospect. imo wolitarsky is a closer to productive prospect with higher up side. Givens is also a good prospect, but not an NI. The primary reason i would like a 2 starting ni wrs is to get poop back starting.

did any one hear the attendance / tickets sold for the game? -
Not far off mcg and a few other big draws in the ufc. Though i would mainly put that on excitement and not having fought in like 2.5 years. His cardio from kick boxing is dramatically stronger then that.
-
Hate friday/sunday ufc cards. Gokhan saki was fun to watch. Wonder how high he will go. Essentially no grappling game, cant see him against dc or if rumble comes back. Gus could be a fun match up. Though i imagine they will feed him some low rated cans for a while.
