  1. phenomonal young prospect. 6'7 282lbs corner out fielder. Guy is a massive freak. Hate the yanks but man that is one hell of a young hitter.
  2. They both have a decent helping of truth. I worry about or lackluster systems, but more about mos being soo player friendly that the team plays half a game every game. But no one is on the hot seat or with in close sight of it imo. We are a mid tier quality team. With mid tier quality coaching. We are deeply invested into mos and hes earned time to see if he can take the next step forward.
  3. Agree with the prequel being more interesting. Not sure how i feel about the spin off being mayans. Seemed like the weakest of possible spin offs. Watched the castlevania series on netflix. Like most i wish it had been longer. S2 and 3 are gonna be 10 episodes though. And the 4 episodes were really really good.
  4. Would be an upgrade, i was thinking the same of frederick/alexander too actually.
  5. Thats right. At the half though BLM was under 50% and around 100 yards while he put up 200+ and ended up with just under 65% completion, and about half of messams yards came in the 4th, including a 10 play nearly 3 minute drive to end the game.
  6. Busy off season so far for the raps. carroll to the nets in a dump. Expensive but worth it. Cory joseph is gone to indiana for cj miles as well. Its good ground work for the rest of the off season. I dont expect the raps to get a superstar, but a JV deal and a good stretch 4 would go a long long ways. A veteran presence like sir charles on the bench to lead by example would be fantastic too. Some one who knows how to win and can mentor DD and lowry into winners.
  7. 20 points in the 2nd half. 10-9 for us at half game ended 10-29. Our D was also well rested for once from the first half.
  8. Other teams in the league dont happily pick over the imp end cuts of a team with poor imp scouting.
  9. and go back to returning. I have a little bit of un ease for this game. We should win it. But if we play on D like we did against the riders or the 2nd half of the stamps game ricky ray might once again beat us silly.
  10. fa scouting is still scouting. Its still our management team. scouting cfl talent is more important then down south. Said before camp i thought it was gonna be hurl unless some one was crazy good. Look how good jeffcoat was and he is on the pr. The best players in camp/ps dont automatically win spots on a team that is coached by a players coach.
  11. He hasnt had much of a chance either. That isnt poor scouting. Usage, and plenty of other things you can argue have been poor. But we have one of the best and youngest OLs, and the deepest. We rebuilt our DL. etc. Poor scouting is a few years ago when we had massive holes all over the place and no one with a pulse to fill them.
  12. Ya, the sky is falling Knox has been a beast on teams, he could turn into the LBer we want/need. Poop johnson and nevis have been massive on the interior DL. Jeffcoat as stated looks like a stud. Roc has struggled but alexander has been good. The dbs from last year as well. I dont think its wr talent thats an issue, its our system. Hard to throw short passes on 3/4 of your plays and turn it into much.
  13. edm and cal havent been beaten. ott and ham both havent won. I really think this year every one is in it till the last 2-3 weeks. save maybe 1 team.
  14. could well be. Could say the same about edm. That a side i dont think a pro starting qb is that mentally weak to be negatively impacted. Motivated for sure. But when the bullets are flying and you are playing it all simplifies. I dont think there much of a chance hes in the red zone goin, i wanna stick it to BLM qbing the other team on the side lines right now. After a td he might have a lil smirk like yeaaaaah. But in the heat of action i think even at a high amateur level that the mind set to compete over whelms less thoughts and focuses in.
  15. You can certainly make a strong case for as goes the qb so goes the team in that game. nichols was good first half, blm not at all. Bombers won 1st half. 2nd half opposite. That said, nichols was really streaky in that first half. And blm was really not good and we only had a 1 pt lead. We thoroughly out played calgary in the first half but had a small lead for it. It was a lot of execution issues all over, and this team playing on emotion too much and not enough on effort.
  16. Thats part of it. As much as any thing DD and the stamps made adjustments and executed. They have an atmosphere of competition. You can lose youre job there, even if you are beloved if you dont produce. Here, if you have bad games or arent productive you can last a long time if you are one of the boys. According to mos, players allways bring it and on every play. But that simply isnt true. Even good and great players (elfrid payton for instance) need pushing, or they will coast and surge. And if you let that become the norm, when the team loses momentum you get a ton of coasting. Back in the day you used to see Long time regimes end and go to the other school of coaching. A players coach (like mos) would be replaced by a hard ass authoritarian. And vice versa. Teams become to frat like, too long in the tooth with old boys clubs etc, and need a shake up. And if you start to struggle after years with a real hard nosed coach who isnt a players coach easing off that pressure with a new coach can work wonders in the short term. The terrible penalties, lack of production for extender periods of time, and some guys who have seen sharp dips in production (westerman) can all be shaken up with some tough love, benchings, and more intense practices . Will mos do that? very doubt full. At this point in time, and given how hard it is to maintain a long term championship contending organization under the same regime you see a lot more in the middle coaching styles. So the coach can turn it up or ease off as needed. Because if you are that nice players coach, you wont be taken seriously if you come in one day 100% hard ass. Or if you are a hard ass and ease up the players will still be distrustful.
  17. yep hes fishing for a contract still. Id love to see mcduffie back and in that role, being used well.
  18. we dont see that 2 back form very often. Instead we see a heavy set every once n a while or pinch WRs into TE type roles. More of normand and a 2back set with normand playing more of a H back type role would have helped. Personally id love to see us use packages more. Like normand as an H back, and bringing in an X factor type guy to run the dressler option hand off / toss / reverse, run some wr screens ideally return kicks as well.
  19. coaching mostly. Generally you have a leader on the OL (normally the Centre) who calls out and communicates. I mentioned in another thread i think, that this OL is super young. And has lost coach wiley. Bryant is 31 with tons of experience. But the rest are mid 20 some things with an average of about 2 years experience. And they didnt have a full year starting together last year. All those things factored in the OL still has a lot of room to grow and improve. Which is a scary thought based on how talented these guys are. We will see if costello is a worthy successor to wiley. I dont see why he wouldnt be, and hope he grows into a great OL coach. This OL core still needs more time as a unit and they will get it im sure. As wiley also pointed out in that surely interview last year it isnt all on the OL. The ol has to pick up blitz etc, and block the fastest routes to the qb. But the rb has to make blocks, and pick up on blitz/drop/stunts etc the QB has to pick it up and know if he needs to roll, get rid of it etc. Its a team sport. The blue this year has struggled with assignments. And we saw some of that last year too. They could man handle a 4 man line, but when things get tricky other teams had some success. High level communication, switches, and 100% trust in every one else and the other offensive units is the last step in cohesion. In previous bad years we would have seen blame, cuts, benching, and out right weak links. This year they will work on it, cus they have the personnel. If they stay healthy, by late in the year this OL and harris et al will be the elite group at those aspects.
  20. stunts, twists, adjustments to 3 man front there is still work to do on the OL. We have the pieces, no doubt. Part of it could be the loss of wiley. We will have to see how the OL improves under costello on that stuff. We have good continuity on the OL, but we also have a really really REALLY young OL. Bryant is 31, but the rest average to about mid 20s with around 2 years of exp. Which only makes how well they played last year all the more phenomenal. The core of this OL could play together for 5+ years. If we keep them together, this time next year it will be beyond scary.
  21. He was on block and release plays most of the night. He was the release valve for nichols. Our offense doesnt deal well with pressure. It requires enough time to scan the field for the best of all the short routes for a chance to pick up a first down. calgary in the 2nd half did a great job of disturbing that. With pressure, showing and dropping, and moving coverage schemes around. The OL still has to pick up the blitz. You have to get a hand on a guy and you take the guy whose got the fastest route to the QB. Not just who ever lines up in the trench. And with the massive miss match we had on the OL last night vs the stamps tattered DL, they shouldnt have struggled to pick up the blitz.
  22. Under willy when there was hope and the early season win streak we won coming from behind with big gaps in out put from both sides of the ball but especially offense. The same has continued with nichols, though last week it was a first half show up 2nd half disappearing act. When normally we seem to show up late 2nd quarter then the 3rd, disappear early in the 4th then roar late in the game. It may be that the player friendly coach mos needs to put boots to asses a bit more and get his guys to play the full game. Pretty much. What we saw with the drops and severe dip in performance after the challenge PI was won we had a broken team. And it never managed to pull it self back together. Execution was brutal at that point.
  23. sounds like you guys deserve the HH more then any one on the field tnite.
  24. yeah if they played a whole game like they did that first half we could beat any one. They have to figure out how to get a full game out of this team. Not the first and 2nd quarter. Not the 2nd and 3rd. etc
