  1. Good release, quick foot work, good arm in general. See some dropping of the arm angle, and some flippy dippy type risky plays that wont keep you in reps at the pro level. Strong and quick enough though looks like a good athlete. Like that hes seen a lot of gun/pistol and isnt out of sorts throwing on the run. Wow washington looks raw. Too bad he didnt get to stay at QB and develop the whole time. Throws a nice catchable ball, good accuracy and touch. Its a bit surprising considering his foot work and release point / arm angle look a bit erratic. Could be a fantastic throw on the run guy eventually. carries the ball low a lot. Neither have blow your socks off stuff. But both have some upside. Washington has the most upside and the most work.
  2. I allways liked kelly malveaux. He and anthony malbrough really laid the lumber.
  3. Jamarcus russell isnt that big of a bust. He was that bad of a pick in a draft with out a clear cut no1. In general QBs are very low percentile. Its rarer for a top 5 qb to become a franchise qb than it is for them to miss. Some positions pro rate better and worse then that. But RB is handily the easiest transition. Not to mention the greatest position of wealth in terms of football talent. Qbs and tackles are often coddled in the the start of their career. Wrs are pampered with offenses tailored to them. Dbs have an expectation of adjustment as well. But rbs, are supposed to step in and perform. Drafting a RB top 5 is a move to get help now. Missing as a QB is like your lotto ticket not winning. Off the top of my head, the biggest nfl draft busts short list would be Richardson, charles rogers, lawrence phillips, bryan bosworth, and courtney brown. (You can make a case for nearly every browns pick in my life time) The bos is about the cutting line for me in terms of injured guys. Tim couch, kijana carter bo jackson etc dont go down as busts for me. Jamarcus russell and ryan leaf may have been the worst picks in history. The massive pile of red flags surrounding leaf leading up to the draft its staggering that he still went no2. From blowing off the colts interview and work out to the circus of his pro day, to the partying none stop in vegas. I get how the raiders FK up and draft russell. Its what they do at the draft.
  4. Manziel was a 22nd pick. Tony mandarich didnt live up to the hype, but ended his career protecting the blind side of peyton manning and doing a good job of it.
  5. maybe the biggest bust in nfl history. 2 major knee surgeries. Hes nothing like ricky williams. In the right system and given time i think ricky williams would have done a lot better.
  6. 1k/1k would be hard to beat, but probably goes to a qb. 1k/1k would be like medlocks record setting last year. Deserving of the win, but blocked cus qb.
  7. loffler, randle, mo, harris, darvin adams, nichols all good choices.
  8. I wont believe its gone till the body is cold, dead, and buried.
  9. Safe travels, expecting a long winded months worth of OS when you get back. Hope fully 4 wins. the gin of too many loses in a row could be deadily. Too bad about vietnam, nothing like authentic pho.
  10. Yeah and its really hard to get a win after a bye. Cant see us losing the season series to bc. But when it comes to the middling teams, ill bet on a buono team to finish well every time.
  11. Ya its really a thing of separation. 3rd to 7th place is a dead heat imo. Any of those teams are capable of finishing in 3rd place or even dead last in the league.
  12. I think teams was solid, medlock of course had a bad night but i think teams as a unit aside from his kicking was good. Some really good coverage and returns. Its a small sample size, but I agree. Westerman reminds me a bit of Elfrid payton. (a guy i was a huuuge fan of growing up) Not so much in terms of being a guy who coasts, but a guy who gets his stats with out having the impact through on the game those stats would infer. ogopogo, and jeffcoat get a ton of pressure but dont sell out for sacks. They get steady pressure and change the pace the offense can operate at. They also dont take the guaranteed dumb penalty every single game. Still westerman has the right pass port and is a productive pass rusher. Losing that starting NI really hurts.
  13. Tsn and cfl.ca have been pushing this year of the catch thing. And it really seems to be true. Each week sees countless crazy high light level catches. Multiple catches in single games. Ive never seen this many amazing grabs in a single season. Not even close. It got me wondering, is the change to PI responsible? As much as any one i hate how ticky tack the pi rule has become. Its not supposed to be touch football after all. But could it be that the room and less hindrance from DBs is causing the catch phenomenon? In the early 2ks we saw some wrs just mugged. Play in and play out, vice coverage on a top wr meant the guy was gonna get roughed up pretty good. Do we now have some crazy surge of talent at wr league wide? The fact we arent seeing every wr and their dog on track for crazy huge numbers, and that a few guys have suddenly blossomed (sj greens having his best season, darvin adams since last year has become an elite wr talent) while others dropping off hard makes me think maybe it is the shift in rules. If it is even in part due to rules perhaps they need to be toned back but not returned to the old system of considerable interference with out an infraction.
  14. 1 Chris randle. Randle island. game saving pick 6. and game sealing pass knock down. 2 ogopogo. Some great pressures tnite. A big sack, a few big hits on reily and scraped the ball really well a couple times. 3 Jovan santos knox. 9 tackles, all over the field side line to side line. Filled the gap really well a few times and was in the back field all night. HH It didnt get caught but the sweep to lankford, wicked deep pass. Should have been a TD. The wrinkles are really coming out of our offense now and its getting harder and harder to shut it down.
  15. Cant say whats lacking with out knowing inside stuff. Football smarts are very different from being well spoken. Preparation is a big difference maker for a lot of top athletes. Bruce arians in his book talked a great deal about that when it came to peyton manning and andrew luck. And the difference between manning and ryan leaf. I think that is a huge factor. The best stars are allways hungry to improve, be better and do better. They grind day in and day out, be it on the field in meetings or doing film study. Milt also had next level athletic endurance. Football focuses soo much on explosive guys a lot of guys run a lot slower in the 4th then the first. milt ran at a high speed every snap.
  16. Yeah. Iirc he was a disciple of coach harris. I tend to look long and hard at talent then scheme. A positional coach may hinder a players progression if they arent good or the two have a bad clash personality wise. But I dont think thatd be the fault for inconsistency in performance. richie hall probably also looks like he has had tons of success.
  17. yes todd howard. this is his 3rd year here too.
  18. Football players, amongst other athletes far far too often fall into riding cliches into the dirt during interviews. When one is well spoken and legitimately intelligent it is a surprise. They are among the top few percentile in terms of athletic ability, to then also be in a high percentile intelligently really puts them in rarefied air.
  19. and bryant turner too.
  20. agree. Id rather see us move jake to the end, or start corney and rotate jake to get another imp in opposite jeffcoat.
  21. No doubt about that. Weve seen great singular efforts this year from each of the DL men. But few have consistently performed, and none have reached near their potential. Talent isnt a problem. Getting the right guys on the field some times is, scheme certainly is.
  22. We seldom make good use of the DI spots on off or def. The scheme is no question a good part of the blame. Weve seen tons and tons of talent on the DL over the last 2 years to till production. Id rather see poop + jake then jake and nevis. But ideally wed have all 3 again. The best our DL has looked has been when we had all 3.
  23. seen him rotated in a few times but didnt make any thing happen.
  24. Hes listed on the roster but isnt starting. https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2017/09/Depth-at-Edmonton-Sept-30-UPDATED.pdf ^ good guys https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2017/09/Roster-Depth-Chart-BB-2.pdf ^ green guys
  25. The depth chart has jake starting at DT again, also only has us with 5 wrs. JFG, adams, denny, lankford, and coates. Obviously flanders / harris will move in and around slot spots. But man i dont like that lack of depth at wr. Football gods help us if a wr goes down. Or harris. The depth chart has us carrying 8 ol, so im sure foketi will be one of the 2 scratches.
