Around the League - Training Camp Discussion
wbbfan replied to sweep the leg's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I almost feel bad for the guy. Jones pass heavy offense, bottom tier OL, his injury history etc. Not a lot of ways it can go, and none of them are pretty. Teams are gonna be blitzing him none stop. -
Walters in the post draft combine, (mentioned with the gray pick and the not having to pay a 2nd first round pick right away) in the freep and to bob irving (first pre season game) in response to bear woods release, again just before and after early free agency etc.

instead of probably being the worst team in the league they could be 0-18 In that case i think they would have paid durant what he wanted. Or sold the farm for franlklin. -

This was based on him tying a combine velocity record. idk if it was the main nfl combine either. But velocity is a fickle measurement of arm strength. plenty of guys can throw hard at 15 yards and shorter. Real cannons can throw hard deep passes. bennett has a real good arm. imo austin afflacka had a better arm. And neither is up there with the likes of michael bishop. -

i wonder if BB ends up on our PR now -
it doesnt much matter who starts as far as imps go. We will rotate DL a good bit. Last year we had hurl come in for an extra imp db frequently. We will see some thing similar this year. This way we gain an extra DI. (8 starting ni)
-
I think that had far more to do with the amount of depth in front of him. Johnson, jake, nevis and ekakitie he had nearly no chance of beating out 3 of those guys going in. And johnson was one of our best linemen.
-
1 free spot left for the PR. I expect renaud to be on the active roster for teams. Im surprised thorpe is on the PR and not on the IR. But we dont play week 1 so AR / PR isnt much important unless some one snipes one of our young guys. (namely spooner maybe briere.)
-
oh wow didnt even think about it, briere is gonna punt and isnt going back to college? Really happy for catchison.
-
and poop. I could see both starting before long. Especially jeffcoat though. Dude is a force of nature off the edge.
-
Thanks for the list. Would love to see butcher and intzandt on the PR
-
Though id be looking long and hard at any MLBers cut.
-
Most of the major sports leagues do this. Might be a thing of some bad teams in tough financial circumstances being protected. If they are fringe for a play off spot mid way through the year and have a bunch of cap space but cant spend that it could crash a fan base. It would be nice to get to that point though where teams salaries were public info.

We are pretty tight with sms this year so that savings could be a real butt saver later. Hurl isnt likely to go, but i could see newfie getting sacrificed to sms as well. (finally)

couture and goossen are still developmental guys. They are seasoned enough to have a more active role then say spooner, but they are only scratching at the surface of their potential. Similarly foketi is an imp ol whose got lots of up side left. Hes one of the more game ready guys but not a guy whose rounded out into his peak form or close to it yet imo. Spooner Is a longer term project. Not as long as intzandt would be though. That is a lot of OL whose best football is a year or maybe more down the road.
-
No joke. IDR the last time our OL was this deep. If it was up to me i might keep em all going into the season let them mash for a bit and see who rises to the top. Hate the thought of letting one go and that guy becoming a stud.
-
great physical talent, but really raw. And we are crazy deep at developmental OL.

For my money that is the best wr core in the league. Maybe more talented groups else where, but i dont think one works as well as a unit or fits as well in their offense. And imo our system would be the primary limiting factor in that match up. If we played a traditional style of D I think we would do as well as can be expected in this era of the cfl. But i think BC is the 2nd best team in the league. Bc and calgary are the elite teams imop. Only if glenn got hurt. Other wise the shine of a new season will last a few weeks. If it goes as I would expect (thud) its gonna get real ugly real fast. Jones cant be out of the league fast enough. -
Pretty much. The amount of talent we have gone through in the front 7 is crazy. If this group fails its 100% on the system. And the coaching staff / management for sticking soo long with that bend but dont break junk. (the football equivalent of a knuckle ball/eephus pitcher.)

Willy either they have given up on or is firmly entrenched at no2. Ray, they are milking any healthy and as many passes out of as possible. At this point in his career he just needs health. If he could stay healthy id take ray with no preseason games over all the qbs in the league save reilly, and BLM. Any one know if malcolm carter is going back to school? career TC / practice mvp. -
Mayweather may UNretire to fight Mcgregor
wbbfan replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in General Discussion
One of the all time great achievements in boxing. And a pretty dang good fight too. Punchers chance and not much more then that is what mcg has. Against floyd, itd basically be like the phantom punch. The only less probable out come of that fight is floyd KOing mcg. If by destroyed you mean have a marathon ran around him get tapped by glass hands in massive pillows and be really really tired then yes. -
he said he looks like an oline man. hes built more like a guard then a traditional DT.
-
100% passport. Plus hurl is good on teams. And NI thats good on teams can have a job as long as they have a pulse.
-
They had bond in at centre. And couture at guard. Im guessing they wanted to diversify guys. Moving them around so in case of injury during the season its easier to move em. Merrman was solid and did well punting and kicking off. I dont think he would be out of place punting and kicking off in the cfl this year. But another year of college and he could be some thing really special. After soo many years of thin OLs. We finally seem to have a nasty OL with tons of depth. I think our best back ups would be about as good as our starting OL of not so long ago. Ive liked lankford in pre season. He reminds me of denny. Smooth runner who brings it and makes the most of his chances. Washington has better up side, but lankford is probably the most ready, and versatile guy we have for the final wr spot.
