its the same thing with naming 2 RBs in stead of an extra WR to be honest. It should be 5 OL, 1 rb 5 wr 1 qb. 4 DL 2 LBs 1 sam 1 saftey 4 DBs. At the same time kick cover guys deserve a nod too imop.

If he has reasonable speed or quicks to get a little bit of separation out of cuts he could be a good fit in the cfl. In the last couple of years weve seen a lot more packages with bigger wrs pinching the end out of the slot/te spot and out of trips formations. I think a good NI TE could be a great multi threat weapon if used correctly. Plus we see big backs like normand and lochard who are kind of stuck between positions. Those guys who play a lot of teams could certainly be rounded into a guy to help block and end/blitz/stunt. Geoff gray would be awesome if we could get him with our 2nd first rounder. Though with heavy NFL interest for other players in this draft and a really strong combine maybe he becomes a safe first over all pick. Rashaun simonise would be my dream pick in this draft. (I think senior is beyond a pipe dream) Huge talent and up side, and fits a need. Could start next year and could quickly become the best NI wr weve had in a good while.

you suck bud only got one right! The east sucking soo bad, BC flourishing again soo quickly, and calgary winning 15 made for a pretty tough year to call high fives to any one who got any team right. I wouldnt have been close guessing on any other team.

We under went massive OL changes in that period of time. Nichols had multiple games with zero hits and zero sacks. In the first game alone we gave up double digit hits. Our passing and scoring production didnt shoot way up, our red zone production stayed turrible all year and we became even more short yardage single dimensional. The attitude and confidence didnt come from the change at qb, it came from winning and playing well. Which came from the defence taking a big step forward, the ol going from one of the worst to one of the best, and nichols protecting the ball. But by a massive margin, the turn around was caused by OL and D. If you changed nichols out for any other proven cfl starter we would have had similar success. Change the OL pieces out, or defenders like mo, the then emergence of loffler, etc with other starter quality guys around the league and we dont have the same success. In that period of time we saw out of this world performances from guys like fogg, loffler, mo, denmark etc that we didnt see prior to that. The teams turn around couldnt be further from one dimensional - nichols.

we will never know how he'd have faired behind the good OL with bond hardrick and no neufeld. In skill set he could make all the passed nichols could, and also hit deep balls. But he may have been too mentally and physically damaged at that point to know. We were a deep ball holding up and the wr having to wait from winning against bc. Even harris couldnt run behind that junk line. Sub 3 yards per carry. If we had this line all of last year I think we would have made the play offs last year.

I also expect us to spend more total between no1 and no2 qbs this year then last year. Bryant probably wont see much change in re signing, but medlock could.

More yards per game, more tds per game less then half the picks etc etc. Nichols took a big step forward this year, and was better then any year of willy prior. But willy in 15 and before showed the ability to win games him self. Which isnt some thing we've had from nichols. If i was the esks id trade him and then sign a vet like glenn to back up. The hype around franklin is sooo high if he is any thing short of elite hes going to have been an over pay at this rate. Of the available qbs willy was left and we were on the verge of missing out. We couldnt afford to do that. It wasnt a desirable setting for a qb other then you were gonna be the starter. He paid what he had to and it didnt work out. The flashes he showed would have been worth while if he could have maintained it / stayed healthy / had a team around him. In the end the money we burned on him kept hope in the franchise, and ended up netting us a TON of return. It was an over pay but for one that didnt work out it couldnt have ended up better.

Thats simply not true. In blinks time we had many horrible o lines, 1 or two deep wr cores at best, some horrible OCs and systems, and for 3 years he split touches out of the back field. Yet STILL he put up 368 for 3396 and 13 tds. 8 years in the cfl. 7.5 here. 3 years split touches out of the back field and primary returner for the first half of his career too. Denmark in 6 years 359 catches for 4870 and 24 tds. Darvin adams 133 catches for 1790 and 14 tds. Blink was the no2 man at worst in our offense, and lead us to wins. Harris was 3rd - 4th in bc. harris played on better teams and was a smaller piece. your drastically under rating blinks contribution. Our offense was reliant on going deep to milt or going to blink.

I think your giving mos and coaches in the cfl too much credit. Look at the HCs in the cfl right now and look at how many of them were HCs 5 years ago. This isnt like the early 2ks when half the teams in the league had great old coaches and rookie HCs were few and far between. Today the league has a few young up and comers, etc.

If we got franklin imop its instead of glenn as the no2 to fight for the starter spot. If its the other way then man id be scared. hes not tee martin. Bryan bennet is a tmartin clone. Crazy all round athlete with a strong arm but poor accuracy who had to have the system simplified and limited to easy shorter passes. Franklin has the touch to throw the deep passes, and decent accuracy short/medium. But in college didnt have strong location. Over leading wrs and throwing behind etc. Not out right misses but hitting edges of windows or missing windows while still getting completions. Also a guy who ran a more simple system. I dont think our system is actually very good for what he likes to do. He likes deep shots and big plays too much. Certainly the OL and coming to a team that was lead by D and teams but has a good number of gifted wrs would be a good fit for any starting qb. I could see ott moving on from harris and if hank retires thatd be a great fit for him.

Willy was an over pay for a high potential qb who could be elite. Similar to whats going on with franklin right now. Nichols is a solid starter. he had a huge up turn this year, but guys with a ton of starts dont tend to have high up side. after soo long you are who you are. as it is if we retain nichols we have to hope he retains form. Expecting him to take another big step forward is a good way to disappoint your self. With poor ability to connect on deep throws, you dont have elite potential in the cfl. Medlock having the best year in league history for a kicker, the defense shattering the team record for turn overs and the OL turning from one of the worst to one of the best led us to the play offs. Prior to this year we had nichols remember? he wasnt the savior of the franchise with a swiss cheese OL. He was worse then willy. Franklin is a huge gamble. I hope we dont go crazy and get him. if we do, its gotta be as a back up / guy to try and take the starter spot instead of some one like glenn. And even then thats a lot of asset investment in QB.

Its not a salary cap issue... its a publicly owned team with a mountain of debt and despite a turn around year mediocre attendance. As in total money problem. Im not worried about carrying on with greater failure, if we see a bad first half next year i dont think mos last the year. Weve been paying pretty good money for qbs, the only thing i can think is glenn. Id like to know where you got 1 year contract from that... as in, what have you done lately. as in defending grey cup and coach of the years being fired the next year as in coaches who didnt miss the play offs in years getting fired etc. Unless your name is buono, you dont have a long leash. Giving 3 year deals with the half life of a HC in the cfl is a huge gamble with little reward.

every coach in the cfl (unless your name is buono) is year to year. Shorter term deals with options would be much better coming off far too many years of paying a fist full of coaches not to coach here. The turn around this year was great, but if it isnt sustained next year and mos gets canned being on the hook for 3 years of salary would be brutal.

I hope its true. But ill believe it when i see it. 1 hank has a healthy ego for a family of 5. 2 he could get a ton of money, and 3 its very very rare for a guy to actually go out on top like that. If franklin is on the trade market, he could push down the qb value in FA as well. Thats an interesting idea. I think durant is going to see a bunch of wooing and play it up some. IF im him my priorities are play off team, strong OL, and a system that works for durant.
