Thats certainly part of it. Weve also seen tons of single game flashes from guys like masoli, cato, lefevour, kilgore, and adams. This may well have been the best performance, but I wouldnt sell the farm on him just yet. Drew willy, Trevor harris, and Zach collaros should give teams pause over going too crazy too quick on a qb.

Its beyond ridiculous to call the late moments of a game garbage, but time against a teams 3rd and 4th stringers NOT garbage. -
3 stars plus HH vs the RBs minor league team

lol dont you hate it when people dont want to admit wrongs on the internet? Nichols had periods of very good play, mostly late in games. Idk if hes played more then a good half this year though. And hasnt been good to end the year. Better then the first game against ott, but still tons of field goals in the red zone. The OL D and steady play of our teams crafted our win streak. The offense didnt lose games. But the turn overs won them. And nichols has been enabled behind what in the 2nd half has been one of the best Ols. Vs one of the worst early. 30-23 td to pick ratio before this year. Playing behind poor Ols with so so talent at wr and an even worse system he was worse then willy last year. Willy got beat down and wrecked. If nichols had to play with the same support he would have suffered the same fate. Luckily, he did not. He gets a strong OL, tons of turn overs and a bunch of talented offensive pieces to develop with. -

The whole game was as much garbage time out of ott as a late game one sided loss. Just like pre season it doesnt mean you ignore a bright spot like normand. Its a comparison to your own standards. Then perhaps you should admit the role the OL and turn overs has played in the turn around instead of trying to blanket all success on nichols. Or that nichols hasnt been very good the last couple weeks. Or that signing trevor harris like you said wouldnt have saved the season. Or zach collaros. And maybe, you should look at the pre season / off season threads talking about QBs and what i had to say about nichols ranking amongst those guys, glenn tate etc. -
he was to some extent nicked up. Its tough to tell how hurt he is at any point. He kept playing earlier this year when he could hardly walk, and they had to pull him off the field. No question he needed to be off the field. If any thing he could have come off earlier. I look at some of the poor usage of him earlier in the game and especially in the season and see his missing yards.

ahmen to that. My breath is held. I do believe in the front office and the massive amount of talent we have though.
-
Earlier this season we saw flashes out of him. A screen pass with a jaw dropping hurdle. In CIS he was a beast of a runner. Hes developed into a good blocker and teams guy. Now tnite, albeit in junk time/game he was stellar. Big, athletic, young and NI. I didnt give him a star or the HH but he certainly could have been one. Gotta give big props to the guy, maybe hes opening the door to steal some touches moving forward and even become the full time back up RB. Gotta work on catching the ball but man his future looks bright. Havent seen power running like that since big mike. (for the bombers any way) http://www.bluebombers.com/2016/08/04/christophe-normand-elevates/

If the turn overs dried up, and we dont improve red zone offense yes we could. This D has out performed the traditional bend but dont break. Some teams have maintained that style. Namely TO. Im not a fan of it. But it can do the job. I do expect our turn overs to drop off next year. But we have some STUD imp wr talent, and a beast of an OL. Next year we will need the O to be a driving force in our wins. Cant play to not lose the game. Its not pure luck, all the turn overs. We have tons of play makers. Guys who are adept at baiting and gambling. Thats not going to disappear, but it very likely wont continue at the same pace. Yeah, untill this franchise is a consistent winner its gonna have that question looming. No matter what happens now expectations will be very high next year. Im not sure mos will get it done. And think plop is ripe for a return to TSN.

Around The League Regular Season Discussion
wbbfan replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
7-2 vs 1 game under .500. Plus the game would be in the dome. That said with a grey cup route that leads through calgary, an easy route is none existent in the west. If we are gonna be able to beat calgary or put up a real fight, we will be more then good enough to beat bc at home. -
Still reminds me of the 2000 team more. Obviously its had more success. Iirc we needed help that year in the last week to get into the play offs. Kinda like we are hoping for now.

think he was banged up but wanted to keep playing. Using your star rb to run out the clock in meaningless minutes to pad his stats can be dangerous. Ever see the Wilis mcgahee injury? Hes gonna get the extension. Unless some crazy fringe situation like TO fires milano and offers him the job. Despite the win streak ive been concerned with his decision making for a while. He continually makes poor roster choices. Seldom putting the best roster on the field. Falls in love with "His" guys despite poor play. weve seen multiple co-ordinators and the same passive systems. We see DI's miss managed, we see poor starts, poor focus, and poor effort on a regular basis. We didnt have 1 game where we played start to finish. Idk if we even played 3/4 of a game. Tons of penalties, and the same ones over and over. We see players dramatically under perform from previous situations. He makes excuses and passes pure BS like they are pro's of course they play hard the whole time. But hes a part of our turn around. we fell back arsewards into 11-7. This team could have easily been a 13+ win team. Weve stuck with him through all the thin now we are going into the play offs, and next year will be going into the season with the expectation of repeating and improving. Thats gonna show how good of a coach he is. Hes earned the chance to improve. This is the best case scenario when you scoop a CORD with limited coaching experience. Especially never having been a HC at any level. Next years TC will really give a great view of how he is. hes going to have tons of talent. All these young guys being a year older. Additions we make, especially with our draft position. I hope he takes the next step and develops into an elite coach. Id be liying if i said i wasnt worried about it though. Plus im not sure any elite coach will be available. Short of that it wouldnt be worth making a move. Thats for sure. The OL wasnt horrible, but it sure wasnt as good as it was with chungh and bond.

3 stars plus HH vs the RBs minor league team
wbbfan replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You dont think its trash time against a team with half there starters and players off the game day roster whose under .500? The whole game ott treated it like pre season. Playing their 4th string qb most of the game. Taking gambles because why not, despite being the most passive team in the league when it comes to taking chances? ott had nothing to gain and treated the game as such. Mean while the bombers struggled against ott depth players and did nothing for long periods of time. Teams up by 3+ scores in a game that matters in the standings during the 4th quarter have more to lose then ott and play more agressive schemes and mostly if not all starters. Half the team we played wont be on the roster for the play offs. They didnt use the no1 qb, the no 2 qb and pulled the no 3 in the first quarter. Not due to play either. And let a kid stay in the game with 3 higher qbs on the roster play while he struggled to complete 40% of his passes, threw ducks all over the field and tried to give us the ball. -
Both but mainly on lapo. We criminally under used harris all year. He was running well all game and we just stopped handing him the ball for almost a half of football. Cant blame mos too much for not wanting harris to get banged up more. He was allready a lil bit banged up and was hurt earlier this year.

3 stars plus HH vs the RBs minor league team

4 fgs in the red zone 2 in the 10 will do that. He held onto the ball too long. Harris and adams made up for a huge hunk of his passing numbers. Too many low and wide passes. He did certainly come on in the late 3rd and early 4th. though isnt that what you call "trash time"? playing the 3rd and 4th stringers late in the game against a sub .500 team? He did play through a ton of hard hits 2 late hits that should have been penalties. The pick wasnt on him, it was on kohlert. Not a great pass but shouldnt have been a pick. Over all not far off being on the 3 stars, but not a strong game by any means. If he plays the same quality game against calgary, or bc we are toast. -
yeah. At one point in the 3rd Q he had 6 carries and the rest of our combined rushes were like 4 or 5. Only 20 carries once this year. Averaged 12.5 per game but combined for over 1500 yards from the line.
-
1 Harris. 10 carries for 60 yards, 3 catches for 82. 2 medlock, 4/4 and a new cfl record. 3 darvin adams 6-100 2 tds. The prime target most of the game and made some big plays. HH Was torn on this one between Dressler who got his 1k yards rushing. But im going with mcduffie making up for his fumble with a return TD and NO FLAGS!
-
They certainly have to play hard and execute. So far doesnt look soo good
-
top 2-3 pick at worst ( I think 2nd at worst? idk) a starting young DB who could turn into a star for a QB who probably ill be going into his last year next year. One of the most one sided deals in recent history. No qbs are under contract for next year. I wouldnt be surprised to see heavy turn over at the qb position. I wouldnt be surprised to see only one of bennet or davis back but both could be gone. Dont think glenn will be back either. I could see us going after another teams back up as a guy to come in and push / back up. Thats the position of greatest interest imop in the off season.
-
Ideally we beat the tar out of the RBs in the first half and get a big enough lead to rest starters in the 2nd half and Give depth guys starter snaps. This game feels strange. It feels like a must win going into the play offs, coming off the last weeks game, and with a shot at a home play off game. On the other hand facing back up qbs invokes many terrible memories from the past of getting torn up by then no bodies who become some one against us. Crossing over seems almost as alluring as hosting a home play off game, especially with this years home performance/crowds. Really just want us not to S&^% the bed tnite.

nice! Im a big fan of the comic too and cumberbatch. hands down the best part of the DCCU so far.
-
Dr.strange looks really good i cant wait to watch it.
-
If that was true, sask should have been a lot better. mtl should have been better before going young at qb, ham should be in the basement, and edm should be 2nd in the league not 4th. I think that pretty much nails it.

Former Als Player Goes Off On Alouettes Gong Show
wbbfan replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I wonder why if he was actually good, he didnt get another look else where. Not surprised the als are a gong show behind the scenes. I wonder if he was black listed for the leak and if he actually did it. -
Mhm equally high level dbag / C word. Prolly the last guy in the league i want on the bombers, and im not normally one to say pass on talent for being a head case.
