A lot of people would be surprised how many players on a team can throw a decent pass. Aside from a small amount of players who were too big or played on power house state champion machines most teams put there best athlete at QB, especially when they are young to see if they can turn into a great qb. I remember blink and stokes tossing a couple beauty passes here. Its a lot of fun to watch some of those games where the kid at QB is a top tier athlete.

so any place in winnipeg during the summer XD if he turns out to be good well have to start a fund.
-
im guessing your looking only at position charts and line ups. We dont play 100% zone defense, and Dbs switch cover targets. Some times on certain looks, other times during rub routes where the wrs patter takes him cross face on the db. especially during back peddle.
-
they didnt run 7+ blockers. That very seldom happens in the cfl. Calgary has given up the least sacks and its for good reason. We blitz very very sparingly. We stunt. We've seen difference co ordinators and the same types of systems under MOS. this is clearly his system and isnt changing while hes here. And atm it doesnt look like hes going any where. yes we do. But we play gap responsible. And got out played by the best OL unit in the league. A minor issue in a game with many major ones. BLM was getting big passes quickly. Our coverage didnt leave him standing in the pocket long. It was a team failure on D, not one dimensional. That said idk what this has to do with a thread about signing 2 wrs....

theres some truth to that. Those schools put out guys who interview well, are prepared for the testing etc. No level of success in college means you will succeed in the pros. If you can find a big school guy with the tool set to succeed in the cfl its an exciting combo though. Davis numbers werent considered great, but when you factor in how heavily they ran the ball it is much more impressive. hes been a quiet monster for us. Trent corney could use more play time, but then we dont have depth behind westerman. Martin has potential at end but needs play time to round out into some thing consistent.

or maybe today is the 7th day since we signed that group.

both times at that. Wish we had some up dates on the long term injuries.

Thats not an "official" time. He had a series of fast hand times all the way down to 4.25. His electronic times are in the 4.3s The correction factor for a hand timed 40 yard dash is +.16 seconds. So that 4.25 is actually a 4.41 hes fast, though. And football fast at that. His eletronic timed 4.32 is about right. Davis is a big strong fundamental wr. Very, very polished. Catches any thing any where near him. Isnt a fast guy. But has the route running and hands to make up for it. Was a very good blocker as well. Heavily under used in a run offense. He was a favorite as a dark horse for the nfl draft for a long time. And at one time before he broke his leg he was considered a good for him 40 yard dash away from being a first round pick. (4.5s) The last batch of guys still seem to be getting taught the game. Though i would expect to see more from them in practice in the next 2 weeks.

idk about his contract status, but we cant keep him on the 2man IR forever, and i for one never expect players who are healthy and hot to willingly sit on the IR long term waiting for a chance. especially if its a guy that would be gone quickly after hitting the PR.
-
Maybe, i have a hard time seeing it though. He would start on probably 3 other teams in the cfl right now maybe 4. If we dont make it work with 2 backs I think hes gonna be gone before long one way or a another.
-
Once upon a time we had a 3rd string RB who backed up Eric blount and troy mills. A guy named charles roberts. Every one in the cfl is a back up until they arent. And the last two weeks, flanders hasnt been a back up.

show me a linemen that isnt dirty some times, and ill show you a never was.

id go so far as to say the next couple weeks but yeah.

Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)

I blame eric lindros. -
Heath and frederick should be starting.

do you remember the pre challenge errors? The calgary on side punt game? the lamar mcgriggs phantom roughing the passer? Ed phillion constantly diving at kharis knees seconds after the whistle? Those cheap shots were the beginning of the end for khari. Challenge those early, and kharis career here is drastically improved. The system is working the right way, and teams are exploiting it in some cases. That means it needs to be refined, not scraped. Its more important to get the key calls right. especially with how the refs have been this year. What needs to change is the time it takes to challenge, the ability for coaches to use them on a play thats allready been reviewed, etc. With this logic we should just get rid of the refs because they arent working the way we want and let the teams play.

never under estimate a wally buono team. If we cross over, ill put money on BC beating the stamps.
-
its a damn shame. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
-
No but we could continually put him on the 2 game reserve. If i was any team with struggles at RB I would ****** him in a second.
-
we wouldnt use him over harris. We dress him as a DI or even start him in place of a ni wr. How? Harris comes back and gives us the extra starting canadian. We play 2 back sets and motion / line one of them up at slot some times. We even have it set up in our offense, the smith/dressler/mcduffie package has us motioning slots into the back field even snapping with wrs in a te/h-back spot. We just use flanders or harris in that spot. I would lean towards harris being the primary back and flanders being the motion back as he is a better pass blocker. The NI wrs are a blind spot 99% of the time in our offense any way. Plop was even coaching here when we had sellers/blink doing the same type of two back offense with lots of screens and releases to both. I dont think thats the type of offense mos wants though so I dont see it happening. Even though it would dramatically improve our offense and even fit with our offensive play style.

dave ritchie would call this bulletin board material. If we face the stumps in the play offs you know that D is gonna be amped up to show him who they are.
-
it wasnt prevent defense. soft coverage / too deep zone isnt the same thing as prevent.
-
burnett was close to getting it that was a massive play. Its not enough to win consistently. Calgary has the leagues leading offense. Paredes hadnt had to kick a 50 going into this game.
-
and like 150 yards of that in the first few drives. After that we did very similar to what we've done on D all year. Loose coverage make them drive the field. Problem is they started in good field position a lot. We arent a big pressure team and the stamps are the best at protecting the pass. Need to be starting heath and frederick. Wild out, and so was justin cole, who has been very very good for us. No cole, wild, frederick, heath didnt start, no darvin adams or sheppard, no mcduffie whose been very good in returns and starting to shine as a wr, and of course no harris. We may have filled the hole of his rushing and receiving, but not his blocking or his pass port. We played an awful first quarter, about as bad as you can, and still had a lead with the diying seconds on the clock. This was as much a win as you can take from a loss. Healthy, and not spotting them 3 tds+ and this game goes very differently. We arent going to become a swaggerville esq high pressure defence. We havent played a full 3 quarters little on a full 4 quarters to date. Room for improvement but you cant expect whole sale change at this point.
-
Thats not our D. We stunt frequently sending 1 lber or some times a db but virtually never over load. That said the D really shored up after the first quarter. They played more strong football for more of the game. I would allways like to see us more agressive. But BLM and the stamps have given up the least sacks in the league, just blitzing isnt going to change that. He gets rid of the ball quickly, checks down well and has strong steady chemistry with his offense. We gave up 3 tds on D (2 passing 1 rushing) and scored 4 on offense (2 passing 2 rushing) simple fact is we lost this game on teams. 0 fg attempts from medlock, finch put them in great field position all day and paredes had a very strong game.
