  1. Idk we put trust into lirim and palardy but it didnt pan out long term. Weve never had a kicker like medlock before, and Id say youd have to go to the pre westwood era for the last time we had a long term reliable high level kicker.
  2. you asked for evidence what more would you like? Do you have any? the 40 is the going rate of measurement for speed in football and has been for ages. Sure some guys are track fast and some guys are football fast. But remove the abnormalities and you have the average. Do you have any idea how many track and field stars play football and play db vs wr? When your the fastest guy on the field the vast majority of the time you are put at wr all the way up. Db hands isnt really the case it used to be. Watch the tip drills in any camp or practice. Look at all the catches weve made this year in the secondary. The difference is having the ball throw to you, and trying to create an opportunity or taking advantage of one that wasnt intended. College wr's who drop too many passed dont just get sent to play corner.
  3. tough is playing a team with a 10-1-1 record that leads the league in points for and points against. Not tough is playing a banged up toronto team thats under .500 whose given up 53 points more then theyve scored. Tough is going through calgary, and bc if you win your first game. Not tough is going through to/ott/ham. I see us winning 10-11 games. Though the cross over would be great, so would hosting a play off game. As long as we get there though ill be pretty happy.
  4. quick step isnt the same thing as flat out speed. And a quick step to close, and get out of the back peddle is whats needed. Quickness, fluid hips but its a technical position. The 6 (5 and 6 are tied) fastest 40 times in nfl during the electronic timing era has 1 cornerback, 3 wrs and a return specialist whose listed as a wr/kr. going back to mix timed eras (manual start electronic finish) times are close, with more wrs in total and a far greater standard deviation. You have guys running 4.7 and slower who are 6'5 230+ and fringe Tes. you think a lot of dbs are returners compared to wrs? Out of the top 10 punt returners in the cfl, 2 are dbs, on kick offs, 1. Tristan jackson in ott is 6th in punts and 7th in kick offs. And he doesnt get reps on D this year short of being used in a pinch.
  5. speed isnt what puts you in position in coverage. its what closes the gap that allows you to make plays or make up for mistakes. Most dbs in the cfl are slower then the wrs and none maybe as fast as the fastest couple of guys.
  6. sneezed really hard i think. richards =/= etienne
  7. haha. Imagine if he was a db though? trying to throw to dressler with outlaw in coverage.
  8. Its arena, but the way afl teams cover compared to ours and to how most teams cover, the afl coverage is closer to our own. 4.5 range, fastest enough to stick in the nfl though.
  9. Harris is a much better pass catcher out of the back field and pass blocker. Hes also consistently been a top the league in rushing for years. Weve seen lots of guys show flashes especially early then disappear at rb. nic grigsby looked very similar in his first game.
  10. Thats pretty much what our defense does too. Soft cushion and jump routes.
  11. 4.47 40, shows good game speed in the arena clips especially coming out of the slot and shows great use of hands in the clips especially the catch drills. He may or may not be some thing, but speed and hands arent gonna be what hold him back.
  12. oh man i wouldnt want to see bowmans catch drills
  13. I hear Fgs are the new Tds.
  14. The out of the two lowest in the season. What if his 5+ fg games where more human? hes kicked 17 fgs out side of 40 yards. 17. Games where he kicks 5+ attempts. 29/31 94%. We won all those games. Our points off turn overs has been dismal in many games, and tons of times we've been kicking field goals when we do score off those turn overs. Sure the D making plays is huge. But weve seen slow stints in the turn overs and those games ground to a dead heat. Not to mention the D in the last 3 games has been far poorer then prior to that. With the riders driving the ball at will, and a mediocre qb tossing 4 tds against us. week 3 vs hamilton we won by 4, he kicked 4 fgs /12 points. 4/6 week 6 vs edmonton we won by 7 he kicked 5 fgs / 15 points. 5/5 week 10 vs montreal we won by 14 he kicked 6 / 18 points. 6/6 week 11 vs crieders we won by 3 he kicked 7 fgs / 21 points. 7/8 week 13 vs the argos we won by 17 he kicked 6 / 18 points. 6/6 if we had westwood kicking we might win one of those games. If the D didnt put us in position and save some games we would be similarly bad. But thats not taking into consideration his clutch punting. But being put in a position to win and executing is the difference between a good team and a bad team. Look at the late game scare vs ssk.
  15. that sucks i havent had it in a long while used to be awesome.
  16. Current problem in the cfl is due to the refs, and the awful changes to PI rules/enforcement. Not the ability to challenge PI. That and the time it takes for the refs to execute a challenge review.
  17. hes the medsiah. saviour of our season. I dont remember a kicker doing what hes done for a team in a single season. Hes scored more points then our offense by a good size amount. If we had just an average kicker we'd probably be a 4 win team.
  18. lol id take a flutie brain over any thing. I said he should, and buck could. I said countless times i didnt know if our organization would can any one mid season no matter what happens.
  19. does the same thing too.
  20. He follows through in the same manner as all fast release qbs. The opposite of a follow through is stopping dead, if he did that even in his limited touches his arm would be toast. In the vikings game he was under crazy amounts of pressure, watch his college high lights. Or the high lights from other nfl pre season action. Despite pre conceived notions, a strong arm does not get and keep you a job in the nfl. They expect an arm strong enough to make all the throws, but tons of guys stick down there with mediocre arms. Passing accuracy is whats demanded above all else, and high amounts of experience. Which is what makes his time and multitude of teams down south so impressive. Matter of fact, pitchers delivery can be success and have been with a follow throw that nearly falls, drops off 3rd base side or first base. Tom brady uses very similar style mechanics. Different follow throughs and delivery points and arm angles can be effective.
  21. All qbs are taught to twist hips like that, that is how and where your power is generated in the throwing motion. Be it in baseball, or football. In fact colleges have a hip jam that you see in basically every school to get qbs to use their hips more. His mechanics are smooth and good. Its the reason why he's floated the nfl soo much. he uses very little upper body in his throws. If that was the case youd see a wind up motion, or a hitch in his delivery. Youd see a pause when his hand goes back before it goes forward. None of those things happen. His accuracy isnt mechanical, and may not be fix able. its hard to say how much of what he does can be improved with his age and number of coaches hes had. But with his lack of real reps you never know.
  22. Could be a guy who gets a look this year, could be one of the guys brought in now to get a head start for camp next year. Certainly will be interesting to follow.
  23. I would expect this all to be a real fire under the 3 depth qbs in practice then. Stirring things up down there I like it.
  24. I would imagine it will be one of the two going into camp next year yeah. Davis is kind of similar age and also limited in experience. Though not nearly as heavily as mcleod. Before signing mcleod none of our QBs were under contract for next year last i heard. I wouldnt be surprised to see a heavy turn over next season.
  25. erik williams most every thing reads about him following in his fathers foot steps. Same HS and college. His dad was a pro bowl DL who racked up 82.5 sacks in the nfl in the 80s/90s. Brandon williams sounds like a mos type of player. Played all over the front 7, including nose guard. blocked 5 kicks in his career, including 3 as a senior in back to back to back weeks. 92 tackles, 18 TFL 9.5 sacks and 5 blocked kicks. 4.69 40 37" leap 24 reps at 225. Impressive stuff. Maybe a work out bud for corney and butcher LOL.
