mmm possible again but i doubt it. Weve seen some awful incidents with american athletes who are allowed to continue playing here when an regular person would have had the work visa removed. The way things are going for him he's going into the mike kelly zone any way.
-
every pro has potential. Ability to full fill it is what distinguishes the gavin walls from the adrian hubbards.
-
In theory yes. Athletes on work visa tend to get an awful lot of lee way though. Taxes also dont have the be paid till the end of the year, as long as the gov't gets its money at some point theyll be appeased.
-
how long till hes done in the league for good? End of the year? This is getting mike kelly esq.
-
The best blockers arent allways the biggest. K9, milt, robert gordon up here. Heinz ward down in the us etc.
-
Of course its best for the blue to have one team in the division dead and burried, especially if its the riders. That said for the league parity would be much better. Id love to see a season end with a final regular season week where every team can make the play offs. Id also love to see us sweep the riders and have it not be a hollow victory. Mostly i hope for entertaining games that the refs dont ruin.
-
LOL i have to watch that. Seen enough of the other halfs for a life time.
-
his only major one. Id highly recommend going back and looking, willy was throwing every thing behind or out in front or low and he caught it all.
-
Adams has shown similar flashes to mayo. Idk if its wanting the ball or what with adams. Jace davis on the other hand was catching every thing with willy and has hardly gotten any looks with nichols. He had one bad drop last night, but hes had more blocks then the rest of our wr core. He does more of the subtle pro things at wr then any of the unproven guys + adams.
-
Bob irving mentioned in the post game show that dressler was considered close and smith was not. Not sure if its true or not. We keep our lips tight on injuries.
-
with an OL that gave up 0 sacks and 3 or less hurries. And denmark busting almost 200 yards. We cant know for sure how nichols would have done in that game or willy in this one. But the difference between them is not kerwin bell / khari jones. Or ricky ray / jason maas even. Willy has the potential to be the guy that wins the game. Nichols doesnt. (consistently) Willy may be too damaged to make it work here now though. Cant tell with out seeing willy in again, and if we do that and it fails we are in a horrible spot.
-
Thats the truth, he bounced back un phased. If any thing he played much better after that pick. Thats some thing willy has never shown. There a lot of things you can attribute that to but never know which one it is. Mental toughness? Confidence? Leader ship? What ever it is he has it, and willy doesnt. Its kind of like a buck pierce trait. Though I think nichols is a better passer then buck was.
-
that trailer was sensational.
-
His 4 quarters in that stretch were the worst we have seen from a qb this year. If all you saw was the pic you must have 20-200000000000000 vision lol.
-
Believe what you like, but willy had his helmet on. And if we hadnt gotten that pick right back i fully believe that would have been it for nichols. His stats to that point 5-11 44 yards 1 pic 1 time count 2 2 and outs. His stats for that game to that point and the last half of last week 11-23 128 yards 1 pick 2 time counts, 5 2 and outs and 3 passes that should have been picked flat out dropped. His over all stats for the last half and first half 14-28 167 1td 1 pick 6 2 and outs 2 time counts. Thats worse then any game from willy. nichols doesnt have the leash willy did to start the year. you can believe that.
-
When nichols threw that pick and up to then he was playing every bit as poor as willy at his worst. And that matches his play from the 2nd half of last weeks game. I think we will see similar play from nichols moving forward. He's not a guy that will win the game for you, but hes a guy you can win with if you have great play around him. I really think we will see the same level of sts play going forward. Hopefully less penalties taking back tds though. No chance we continue to force 5 turn overs a game or more. That would just be utterly crazy. We d have dbs finishing with picks/yards of a wr. Mo legget would have been our 2nd leading wr, by that token lol. Will we lead the league in turn overs? We could. Masoli was really bumbling with the ball, but in TO we put hats n hands on the ball and our dbs showed good hands. Continuing to be a big play defense is possible. medlock is doin what he does. This is why we paid him top flight wr money. Worth every penny. Yeah we are. Gotta take the wins when you get em. What we are seeing a lot of right now is that our depth guys are way better then other teams depth guys. How our no1s play against other teams at 100% no one can tell till we see it. Would ray have missed those 3 early bombs to wrs with a stride or more? Would the top 3 wrs for to have caught them and some other passes? Have to see in maybe the rematch and going forward. Not a fan of blind optimism. Or pessimism. Im a die hard realist. We should allways cheer for our team. But thats not at all bleeding blue and gold. Its a fan forum not a cheer squad. Idk what you expect? The commonly loathed actions of several fans from other teams (not so much the ones that post on here) is that of constantly hyping how good they are and their prospects are when they are doing terrible. That they view there pieces as superior to ours and to what they really are despite facts. Why encourage the type of fan in your own market that you loathe in other markets? Maybe you dont feel that way personally, but plenty of people do. And a forum is a place for open discussion of the team. If you want to see only people with the same type of view and opinion as your self thats kind of sad, but the ignore feature works.
-
Tbh it really depends what we do else where. Foketi looked really good last night. Corney didnt pile up stats but was thrashing his man, drew penalties and it could have been more. Based on skill alone id do this Dressler, smith, adams, denmark, kohlert. With davis as the extra man. The last couple weeks he hasnt been jumping off the page like earlier in the year. He and nichols (and harris in the passing game) hasnt clicked yet. He had a tough drop last night. But he goes out and does a great, great job blocking on every pass and run play. Hes made more plays happen with blocks then with catches this year.
-
You never have to read my comments if you dont like them. How you perceive them really isnt of any matter to me. This is a forum for talk and opinion. Not a blind cheerleader squad. We won, and it feels great especially to be on a win streak. But that doesnt mean you blind your self with rose colored goggles. Thats how you end up with the incredibly toxic nature we see in losses and rough stretches. Three plays off the top of my head where it nearly cost us dearly.
-
nichols was on the verge of being pulled. and its the 2nd week in a row he played half a game or less. cant just cherry pick good stuff and ignore the bad when we win and the bad and ignore the good when we lose. Its not all qb. Win or lose.
-
thats the truth. he was kicking every thing from 50 yards out at the start of the season too. doesnt help. but his coffin corner punts have been excellent.
-
Nichols got happy feet under pressure 3 pivotal times last night, 2 dropped picks one should have been a pick 6 and a throw behind. Take away the big plays that denmark made and you have scary stuff. The same stuff we saw in the first half, and last half of last game. nichols doesnt have a particularly quick release. And in fact in the first half of last nights game he reverted to a drop windmill in his delivery that has plagued him in college, edmonton, and here last year. Its what you see when a qb is forcing things typically. He has been doing a good job of going down the check list, but has made some really poor decisions forcing the ball into small windows with a surplus of defenders around 1/2 wrs. he doesnt have the kind of arm that can make up for those decisions either. Hes been taking a lot more deep shots then willy, but he misses a lot. His strength is similar to willy. Short to medium passing routes. Its not any of his plays that has taken us and guided us to wins. Its the utterly ridiculous amount of turn overs we have forced, and maybe the best sts in the league over all.
-
Its an easier said then done kind a thing. Different coaches and teams have different ideas and ways of going about it at half time but then you have enough time to generally reset. The start of the 2nd half can almost be like a 2nd game for the qb. Its a tough thing no one really seems to have mastered. But we have gotten close to the point twice now where we needed to do some thing to shake things up. Cody fajardo is a huge change of pace at qb. Going to him would have been such a drastic shift for the argos offense or defense it could have snapped some life into them. For the short time, it probably would have been best. Long term however, young qbs especially need the chance to work through trouble and see as many snaps as possible. There is a very limited amount you can improve sitting on the bench. I would have changed qbs in that situation, but SM likes to put his qbs in the hardest situations possible. The end of that game is exactly the type of thing he wants his young guys in. Fajardo, 4 year starter at nevada. Which alone is considered a big deal. But his stats. 9659 passing yards 65% completion 57 tds 29 ints 3482 rushing yards (2 1k seasons) 44 rushing tds. SM digs up stud prospects, and turns coal into diamonds with pressure. Hard to argue with his results.
-
couldnt come at a better time for the team, soo many injuries hope fully we can get a couple guys back. But pretty tough time for fans lol.
-
Going out for an extended period is really hard on the qb. The arm cooling off is a big deal. Takes them out of the proper mind set too, even if they are struggling. Similar to in baseball when the offense has a bat around inning and the pitcher is on the bench for an extended period. Thats why you dont see it often.

Odds and Sods - Game 8 - Bombers at Argos
wbbfan replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
just rewatched, on harris TD he broke atleast 6 tackles. The ol was a mess on that play, he broke 3 tackles before the line of scrimmage. They did get a good scrum going at that point though that helped him get in, but that was a huge effort by harris. Probbaly only 2 backs in the last 5 years score that td. 90% of backs are tackled in the back field. Tackles for a safety isnt a good stat. Loffler did play another very good game though. And that FF was a thing of beauty. Guy has a nose for the ball and makes all the right football plays. Not really good, he had that awful miss snap that the argos pounced on but was brought back by a off sides penalty. The line as a hole played well though. Running was tough in the first quarter and a half but after that they tightened up as a unit and played very well.
