  1. Keys to the game turn over battle. Riders record has heavily relied upon an extreme turn over disparity. Zach has struggled and we’ve given up some key fumbled. Gotta win the t/o battle. throw to win, the riders give up the most pass yards. We have to be ready to take advantage of the riders secondary. sack time, riders have given up among the most sacks in the league and have hardrick out. We’ve got to get home and create presssures/sacks rather than blitz pointlessly.
  2. Yeeep. Snafu around here. Remember beaudreaus wonky ass cover scheme last year? Mos roster management this year seems a lot like that. My only possible hope is that he’s being given enough rope to hang him self this year and that change will come, in some form, eventually.
  3. Haven’t watched it yet, but I subbed and when I do I watch any I missed and like it. Gotta support this type of content it’s exactly what this league needs!
  4. Adams is 3rd in the league in sacks leading us, and woods is tied for our lead in Tfl having been our best dl this year. Wallace was our best ol in pre season and has shown well so far. Or dl is also beat up, and Dobson has been much improved the past few games as well.
  5. Honestly I’d keep Wallace. He’s been good in his limited reps and after the pre season I think he has the best upside of all our young ol. Kick kola to the curb, start eli, keep Wallace. Dobson has been improving, albeit not at the rate I’d prefer.
  6. With mci and clericius in the wings we might finally be able to get away from carrying 7 ol. A good lead blocker is way better than an extra 300lbser in a double tight set any way imo. Even more pointless while carrying so many ni dl
  7. Score wise idk what to expect. The riders give up the most passing yards and sacks though. I could see a coming out party type game for Adams and or woods. The riders run D has been very good, but buck has a habit of passing to run lately and that could work very well. The riders passing o isn’t good and our pass D is maybe the best. I don’t think the riders will commit to running but will hurt us when they do. Probably some thing like 13 caries 100 yards for aj. I think we will control TOP, and drive the field a lot, but struggle to cash in. Another big night for Sergio. The riders also force a crazy amount of turn overs, I think either way this goes we have a decent chance of seeing strevy if zach doesn’t protect the ball. Biggie shouldn’t play D any more in the cfl. Dudes toast.
  8. Physically very similar. 3 1000 yard campaigns in the 10. 04-07 clermont would be a reach, but clermont overall for his career is decent if he fulfills his potential. Realistically I think some where between woli and Watson is likely.
  9. Honestly I think he could be even better, but I think he is a turn key woli role guy. Hes as smooth as bolo and with some polish he could be really special. Hes also an outlier in terms of strength for his size. He’s built like a wil
  10. That would be the dream for sure. We have some really good promising young guys that I could see taking that step next year. Woods Adams bonds griffin ford Wallace Mci clercius and even Hebert. Those guys in a healthy year next year could propel us back to the top of the west. It’s as important that we bite the bullet and get a couple vets out as finding top end guys. Especially on two wins idk if mos will be willing to do that.
  11. IMO, no that team doesn’t win a gc, or play in one. If kolo and biggie are still playing primary reps I don’t know if we are competitive in a play off game, unless we uncover some one between now and then who is a modp/mop level addition.
  12. Changing this to strevy since he’s moved to the pr
  13. It’s a strange dynamic. I can’t recall seeing that for the life of me. Every hc I’ve known has been either an O guy or a D guy that had a big hand in running that side of the team. Bobby dyce is the closest guy but he’s been both a passing game coach, oc and sts co up here. And he’s done a bunch of ni scouting with us back in the day. He’s more of a guy who has had his hand in many pies rather than a guy with too few. It used to be that most hcs were D guys up here. And the qb called the plays, the oc was a bit lower in power back then. Today’s game is run by ocs much more than ever before. Even out side of the cfl, ocs are generally the top candidate for hc jobs. Obviously it can work, and it has here. Sustainability is tough to say as all coaching is on a short half life. Idk if this is going to become more prominent, like player coaches have, or if this will be an aberration. If I was looking to build a coaching staff though, I’d build around an offensive mind.
  14. All of this. Smith was averaging 11 yards per punt return which is very good. His 21 per kick off were kind of average. But he caught the ball and made good decisions. Some times a bit tentative but needed coaching more than any thing imo. case is a former part time return hybrid guy. Maybe lucky will come on the roster as well since we removed two offensive guys and they’ll split duties? jones doesn’t make sense when Cole and Ayer’s already aren’t getting a lot of snaps. but roster moves that don’t make sense and make the team worse are on brand
  15. Dare to dream. qft I wonder if they will look to move mbt. That could be an interesting shake up in the league. If not, I wouldn’t mind getting ford cheap. I’d rather run him through the Strev package and groom big Chris as an actual qb.
  16. Is that including injuries or the projected starters? The guys I listed that we added are all above that age as well. All other position groups? So we are younger at qb and rb? Cus we for sure aren’t. Year older Augustine and Brady, year old zach and brown vs strevy. Making a switch from a guy in his 30s to a guy in his 30s like rt isn’t going younger. Gray was our youngest full time starting ol last year. kramdi is older than Parker at Sam. Ford and bonds are older than guys we ran out last year. If jj could stay healthy he’d still be here. No way has age been a primary motivating factor in our roster changes.
  17. I think his only bounce back chances would be with ham/ott if they blow things up. But I like some of their young coaches Better personally.
  18. https://3downnation.com/2024/07/15/edmonton-elks-fire-head-coach-and-general-manager-chris-jones/ At long last, the cfl is free of Chris jones once again. I wonder how long it’ll last this time… I could see him getting another dc shot in the off season unfortunately. Edm is better than their record and could imo bounce back.
  19. Great coaches are seldom former great players. Most are guys like dinwiddie who didn’t pan out, had all the mental tools but not the physical ones. Great players often get the first shot at coaching but seldom pan out. Even mos here has always struggled with roster management and coming from a teams co spot has never owned an aspect of the playbook like plop or hall etc. he’s always succeeded with former hcs and decorated cos. He’s like a baseball bench boss more than a typical football hc.
  20. Premium pay for premium players at premium positions. When you pay premium cash to a guy who lack that you get in trouble. You can have one or two Canadians you pay a bit more to who are starters, but you can’t do that for all of them. At the end of the day you have to make up for paying super premium deals like qbs, lawler/schoen etc. and the way you do that is with young Canadians. If you get a good imp for a cheap deal they will be expensive or gone fast. Canadian roster filler is the primary place to save money. That’s just the economics of the league. We won ships on the back of cheap Canadians like Kongbo, desjarlais, Eli etc. flip that and make those guys expensive and suddenly you price your self out of the market and it’s a struggle just to keep some of your own free agents.
