  1. Khari wasnt injured. he was done. I do agree that his firing was pre mature. BUT in that era thats how things were done. Don mathews was fired for while not missing the play offs, richie was fired from MTL having made the play offs the previous year (at that point he might have only missed the play offs once, or not at all) Berry imop was kind of similar. In that the team tapered down a good chunk from 07-08. Going from the grey cup to 2 games under .500 and losing in the semi. in hind sight i think every one in bomber ville would have kept berry. But after mike kelly was hired I think most thought it would be a huge upgrade. I dont remember many at the time saying berry shouldnt have been axed after kelly signed on. Lapo did have a good bit of support from the fan base as a HC. Im not a fan of him as a OC. Never have been. We saw much of the same with him as a HC. Though I think he was better then most of the junk we've had as HC. If he could have got an offensive guru and let them run the offense he could have been a long term HC in the cfl. Moral of the story is there was plenty of reason for each firing. The leagues and times have changed. Back then guys like kent austin and chris jones would be canned quickly. And HCs have the shortest half life in sports. Your year to year no matter how long your contract is. A disappointing season is a fast way to be golfing the next year.
  2. yeah pretty much. Soo much potential but hes the QB version of joe first half flemming. Or chris brazzell. That may well be true. The fact its the top pick changes things though imop. To making a terrible terrible deal doesnt set the market. But your probably right about the starting point being around a first pick. BLM despite being the ****** player of the year and playing on the king maker team in calgary has a value higher then can be quantified. reilly isnt far behind BLM if he is at all. He does a lot more with a lot less imop. Jonathon jennings ended the season and went into the play offs looking real bad. But hes still really young and has worlds of potential. BLM and reilly are worth a kings ransom. Jennings is worth a good bit more then TO paid for willy. The rest are hard to define due to various circumstances. But the next tier of starters are still worth a first. Though more of a gamble. And collaros / harris arent guys id want to gamble on. Or hank. You have to consider what glenn was traded for. when he was dealt to us, i think most of the league would have taken him over willy for the short to medium term. then that would be my mistake. Averaged out though 9th the final is about his spot though. which is a big reach from 2. And the point remains the same. Half the first round will have been rated in the top half at some point in the previous year and half or so. If not more.
  3. No joke. He was on fire for the first 4 weeks of the season then was awful. Hes one of the last guys id want.
  4. Thats what the point was. Aside from this last draft we havent seemed to draft BPA with walters. I didnt list the 5th because it was the January rankings before the season he played. The other two were the post season and post combine/work out listing. Why would i list his ranking before the last season of college he played? Richards THEN was considered a big reach over durant who had fallen out of the first round. As shown, they were reaches. And the original point was that this administration does do things that are considered off board. Its not hind sight when your reaching to select players rated rounds below when they are picked.... which was the point..... I havent seen that. Can you post a link? Would sound about right though. Its the decision not the out come, but hes the weak spot easily in the line. Struggles to pick up and assign blitz and switch off, etc.
  5. thorpe and steinauer are excellent DCs, but i worry they'd only be brought in if they run mos systems. Kinda similar to plop on offense, but his miss use of the running game, poor red zone schemes, poor use of the DI, etc i think would be improved by a good OC even stuck with in the same short pass possession offense.

Yeah first attempts are seldom successful but often the first step to the final solution. Any union really has to get the stars of the sport on its side when it gets its legal side straight. What a joke. He shouldnt have trouble making that weight with his build. It blows my mind how some of these guys get such terrible people working for them. Nutritionists, trainers, etc Derrick lewis and francis ngannou aka the great hope of the HW division both won friday. How they had this event with these two and didnt have them on 206 is a mind blowingly bad decision. I feel like if it was any other decision these guys would have fought each other all ready. Both got nice finishes of their respective soup can opponent. I cant wait for these guys to get some actual ranked HW ufc fights.
  7. Well the discussion was about reaches vs taking the BPA. Both, were reaches. Goosen was ranked 9th in the final rankings and 15th in sept. Picked 2nd. Briggs was an even bigger reach.
  8. goosen, richards, passing on lemar durant in the 2nd round twice. reaching for briggs. he was assistant GM and head of canadian scouting in 2013 which was an ugly draft too. The decision with garret waggoner has also been a hot topic, though I did and do like him as a player.
  9. all though we have made some funny decisions on who the BPA was.
  10. I think it shows that he was the best HC available. And that they are committed to him. It would have been a terrible decision to not re sign him after waiting soo long for the team to put it together under him after they finally do. To draw it out and kick the tires on other options would have been a big mistake too showing a lack of believe in what they had last year. This was the only good move to be made.
  11. To be fair, ive never seen players come out and say NOOOOOOO! when a coach has been extended. But it is a good thing for chemistry and for showing the players the management and brass believe in what they have. say what? The defence played 10x better over the course of the year then the offense did. If it wasnt for the team record setting turn overs we dont get a sniff of the play offs. We need some over haul work on both sides of the ball, but i doubt most of what needs to be done will be done. With a year of tape to go back on how do you think opposition Ds are gonna play us? We seldom throw deep, and when we do its a floater. Opposition offenses will have a harder time taking further advantage of our D. Offense, defense, and teams each could have won the game on a single play multiple times. It was a team loss. Dont forget how good they played the pass for most of the game. I probably would have gone for one more first down. I dont think bc would stop you from making a short throw to the first. then you spike and put medlock on the field. But the decision to kick was very sound. Medlock made from 60 in practice his season long was like 58 or 59, and kicked from deep a bunch of times in practice. He was the best player last year and had the best season for a kicker ever. It was a good decision. And im not a mos fan. It wasnt perfect, but only hind sight is.

Its not just that tool no. But that may end up being the only purpose it serves. I would prefer it if the fighters got a legit association in order. But with this group they have together I dont think it has a snow balls chance in hell. Pretty much, if pettis wins i wonder if he still gets a crack at aldo. Promoting and interim and then giving another interim belt is ridiculous. This is the 2nd time out of 3 attempts pettis has missed 145. He needs to seriously over haul his camp or stay at lw after this.
  13. No doubt it has a massive impact. BPA is still Best player, but may not be available. Mean while senior could test poor down south and get passed over. Or the bungals could be serious about simonise and hes allready as good as gone.
  14. agree, 2 years would have been perfect for me. BUT, you cant give a one year deal it shows a lack of faith in the coach. Sends the wrong message to the team. Even though any coach not named buono could be fired any year you have to show more support and belief to your players then that. 2 or 2 plus a team option would have been great. 3 years i worry a bit. Mos still shows a great tendency to start HIS guys no matter how poorly they play or how much better the player behind em is. He still makes poor talent decisions, is stuck on some terrible offensive and defensive systems, and allows for gross miss management of the offense. For him to be here for those 3 years he has to take a big step froward. For walters id give him all the years. Since hes taken over hes brought in tons of talent, weve seen one of the quickest turn arounds of NI talent and depth in the franchises history, and maybe the deepest its been since we last won a grey cup.
  15. its a pretty huge difference between allstaring all slot backs vs a wr and a rb or a cb and a dhb. Sam and rb work entirely different from lb and wr. Its like having 5 DEs and 1 less db. Pass catchers are pass catchers. The use of trips formations and motion you see any one lined up at any position through out a game. You dont see khalil bass covering wrs in man etc.

seems like its allready a sinking ship. Though it may be a tool to get a deal done with GSP and the UFC. If he comes back the last thing i want to see is him fight in bellaturd or roidzin. showtime pettis misses weight by 3 pounds. Pretty sad, im sure they will keep the fight, fine him and give holloway part of his purse. Its too bad hes struggled to make this weight in the past I dont think showtime is long for FW. To bad. If he wins then its a real mess with what to do next.
  17. id be surprised if hes ever a starter again. hes soo broken and damaged and now in TO has the knock of being a guy that cost the first over all pick and heath. If he isnt fire in TC hes probably not long for the league any more. only after a bombers win, or a record sales day for booster juice / pinnacle etc
  18. no chance. It seems we must re invent the wheel every off season.
  19. its the same thing with naming 2 RBs in stead of an extra WR to be honest. It should be 5 OL, 1 rb 5 wr 1 qb. 4 DL 2 LBs 1 sam 1 saftey 4 DBs. At the same time kick cover guys deserve a nod too imop.
  20. If he has reasonable speed or quicks to get a little bit of separation out of cuts he could be a good fit in the cfl. In the last couple of years weve seen a lot more packages with bigger wrs pinching the end out of the slot/te spot and out of trips formations. I think a good NI TE could be a great multi threat weapon if used correctly. Plus we see big backs like normand and lochard who are kind of stuck between positions. Those guys who play a lot of teams could certainly be rounded into a guy to help block and end/blitz/stunt. Geoff gray would be awesome if we could get him with our 2nd first rounder. Though with heavy NFL interest for other players in this draft and a really strong combine maybe he becomes a safe first over all pick. Rashaun simonise would be my dream pick in this draft. (I think senior is beyond a pipe dream) Huge talent and up side, and fits a need. Could start next year and could quickly become the best NI wr weve had in a good while.
  21. as close as you got on mtl, ott, edm, and sask + getting bombers right those gotta be the best picks for the year any place.
  22. you suck bud only got one right! The east sucking soo bad, BC flourishing again soo quickly, and calgary winning 15 made for a pretty tough year to call high fives to any one who got any team right. I wouldnt have been close guessing on any other team.
  23. this. I think randle was all star worthy again, but in less time.
  24. We under went massive OL changes in that period of time. Nichols had multiple games with zero hits and zero sacks. In the first game alone we gave up double digit hits. Our passing and scoring production didnt shoot way up, our red zone production stayed turrible all year and we became even more short yardage single dimensional. The attitude and confidence didnt come from the change at qb, it came from winning and playing well. Which came from the defence taking a big step forward, the ol going from one of the worst to one of the best, and nichols protecting the ball. But by a massive margin, the turn around was caused by OL and D. If you changed nichols out for any other proven cfl starter we would have had similar success. Change the OL pieces out, or defenders like mo, the then emergence of loffler, etc with other starter quality guys around the league and we dont have the same success. In that period of time we saw out of this world performances from guys like fogg, loffler, mo, denmark etc that we didnt see prior to that. The teams turn around couldnt be further from one dimensional - nichols.
