  1. Hed have more yards ands Tds then half the qbs in the league LOL. Remember the horrible mug jobs DBs used to get away with in the late 90s early 2ks? Not to mention the BS some defenders got away with when it comes to cheap shots. (cough cough phillion) The pendulum has swung far too much in the other direction. milt used angles to get away from A LOT of faster dbs. He got run down from behind many times. But it was almost allways a case of a DB just making a fantastic play. He would zigg zagg and instead of trying to walk the side lines (in heavy part due to his play over the middle) run to a corner making the DB have to run a much longer distance and maintain that intercept speed. Seriously american or canadian milt is one of the 3 wrs every single college/HS kid with greater aspirations in football should watch religiously.
  2. No chance what so ever. Im not by any means a mos fan. But I wouldnt give up walters for any of that. And im not sold on milanovich as a head coach at all. Plus Not a barker fan at all. The only interest id have in milanovich would be to replace plop as OC. and i wouldnt want to give up any asset for that.
  3. Certainly not slow, even in his last years struggling with injuries. He was football fast. Blink also got a ton of use on kick returns and did even better, but was quick and not fast. Milt was more well rounded. He wasnt blazing speed world class track runner fast. And he wasnt blink quick. He was in between with the ability to beat you with one move or in an endzone sprint. Even if he had to take an angle. Yeah he had better use of gears then the huge majority of WRs. Part of that was his incredible athletic ability, and part his savant like genius football IQ. damned right. He took some horrible shots and still played. And at 185 pounds. Blink gets the much deserved credit for being tough. Running at 171 (allegedly) up the guy through people and not being taken down by arm tackles (unless they held his jersey LOL) but milt played over the middle and made his career playing full speed in the danger zone, in an era of football that was much harder nosed then now. Now if you sneeze too hard you get a penalty.
  4. yep, heard it too. And its the truth. He wasnt the blinding speedster some seem to think but just an over all athletic monster. Soo many football players come from track as sprinters. He was an endurance hero. not to mention as crafty as they come.
  5. the support came back in full force during the 01 era run and the swaggerville era short lived as that may have been. Its not the cumulative effect. Its the current teams momentum and the diversity of the sports market. Winnipeg has long had a reputation for not being good at integration. Not just for immigrants and different ethnicity groups but even canadians moving from other parts of the nation. Its a cultural problem driven by the blue collar low brow broke af nature of the area. Would love to see an out reach program for migrants to get a bunch of tickets to go as a group with some of the friendly blue fans who can show em the game and our team.
  6. mediocre sports market thats over saturated with various products. And thats as a raps/jays fan. Ill never forget the bangwagon jumps and exoduses the franchise has seen. Still soo torn on who i want to win less. The stamps are soo douchy. especially BLM. But then the RBs winning with a sub .500 record as such a new franchise with our own futility makes me sick. Really wish some how both teams could lose.
  7. yeah for such a regular season juggernaut they are pretty reliable play off chokers. Idk who i want to win less between the RBs and the stamps.
  8. For his era, lancaster was as much an nfl style qb as existed. Dont forget that era the nfl wasnt nearly as rigid as its perceived currently for passers. Brian brohm ran a spread offense in the ncaa. Not a pro type offense. BLM is 6'2 brohm was 6'3. Drew willy also wasnt an nfl prototype for qb. Good size and tenure but QBs who struggle to throw to an area of the field (deep in his case) are low ceiling dime a dozen. Buffalo isnt exactly an nfl puppy mill either. Not so many schools run the old I form/pro form 2 wr set constantly any more. The NFL has made a lot more use out of 3 wr packages on the whole with some even running a spread offense. The line between an NFL, CFL, and NCAA "Style" qb is very blurred now. The NFL has more running qbs then the cfl. Which starter in the cfl is a threat to rush for 800+ yards any more? It makes it even harder now then it used to be to find qb talent young. Guys will get a year on the PR to see how they learn and adapt that never would have gotten a sniff of the NFL in the past. So small schools do yield some benefit. Those guys tend to get over looked more. And having a small school QB who crushed his competition level is better imop then having a big school guy who was mediocre. A guy like gage gubrud (eastern washington) with his performance in his first year starting will probably still get a decent NFL look. The key to finding qbs imop is to prioritize skill set and to aim back at guys who are running out of NFL time. Dont fall soo much in love with the amazing athlete who cant toss it down field, find the guy who doesnt have the NFL bulk weight, has a good arm but not a crazy arm but the accuracy and touch to complete a pass to any part of the field. Despite the long time prototype of the NFL looking for rocket laser arms playing a pro offense and facing top competition, today the NFL looks for guys who put in a lot of starts in college, has great accuracy, and adequate arm strength. The physical attributes that make it hard to get picked up these days physically are under 6' and 200 lbs or under. But you dont see those guys with the regularity you used to even in the ncaa.
  9. If its not its gonna be a take him out behind the shed / old yeller TC for him. Would have liked to see waggoner get more snaps at LBer. He was really really good on teams this year. It should be a very interesting camp for young nucks next year. At this rate it seems like if we want the grey cup in town, well have to rent it from calgary >.>
  10. great skill set, right pass port, but hes never lived up the hype or stayed healthy. Will probably still bring a premium pay day in too. kyler elsworth would be a good addition. Made a bunch of plays in MTL in TO mostly played teams, where he was very good. Llevi noel and james yurichuk 2 nucks who are also good teamers. I Like llevi noels skill set too. Hes be a great sleeper pick up. His contribution over all compared to some one like addison richards would be a strong upgrade. I might take a gamble on johnny aprile at this point our NI wrs should be real un comfortable. Id bring in as many as possible to push and try to find some thing. Maybe louis richardson if we wanted to have a chance for trent corney to start. Other then that it never hurts to bring in a vet NI OL on the cheap.
  11. every american up here has some level of nfl aspirations imop. Hes going to be some thing like 28 when hes a FA. If he stays healthy and even continues on at a decent pace set by his first 2 years starting, he will get tons of chances and im sure he will take one.
  12. could well be it too. A combination of all factors even.
  13. maybe its nostalgia but I feel like the media for bombers pre jets era was a lot better. In general actually I think it was better across the board. Maybe its become spread thin. Or maybe it just rose tinted glasses.
  14. .... there was no suggestion of corney replacing cummings. It was thomas replacing cummings and corney+ butcher offering enough depth to rotate an american on the line. Cus if you start thomas with an imp DE and put in corney, take out thomas you can put in an imp DT. Love the talent, hate the headcase. Some guys are considered locker room trouble on other teams, change teams and suddenly no issue at all. Having the right or wrong type of locker room can change things drastically. Also guys can mature. Messam is a strong case for a guy who was a locker room problem until he proved other wise. I dont think we take a chance on him though. He would cost mega bucks when we allready have guys who contribute on the field with out being an issue. Adams + gurley a side from size being over rated at wr, we dont have a lack of it. No matter the size of a WR it isnt going to make up for a system that takes very very few deep shots and a QB who doesnt have a good deep ball.
  15. especially with a few of the people we have in the press. knuckles and tait really shine up a turd in wpg sports coverage.
  16. might want to ask ryan smith and sam hurl to defer all their money to other players xD
  17. Yeah we pissed it away with poor execution a fist full of times. but bc over came early poor play on D and huge passing struggles to come back and win. Gotta give em respect for that. I feel a bit better since jermiah johnson is averaging 8 YPC against the stamps too. Since its gonna be stamps vs roughblackigades IDK who i want to win less. Is it possible to have a draw and neither team gets the ship?
  18. i wouldnt say "play" as much as sit on the side line and be ricky rays cheerleader.
  19. poor weather / play offs / the clutch LOL. Huge upset for ottawa. Im glad it wont be a battle of alberta GC. But i dont want to see ott win either. bc or bust!

    UFC

A few light weights with minimal muscular build cut heavy amounts. Not a lot are walking 180s not by any stretch. Diaz whose stuck between being a 155 lbser and 170 lber walks under 180. Hes able to make that cut because hes a tall thin build with world class cardio levels. at 158 gsp didnt even make it to 170 a difference between the Quebec athletic board and the ufc cutting rules saved him from sanction. Cyborg has a better shot at 135. How is "dieting down" going to cut down 35-40 pounds when he walks easily under 10% fat? All the sources ive seen puts GSP 190-195 walking weight. Which seems realistic. You look a him next to johny hendricks(who cuts from 192-195), lawler (who walks 191 n change), and similar big WWs he isnt cutting 15 pounds or less to make 170. To have a chance he would have to reconstitute his build. As in shed pounds and pounds of muscle that hes held for most of his life. Then fight the highest level fight of his career.
  21. Cummings has size and was very good previous to this year too. But didnt live up / didnt thrive in this system. Corney showed really good early, then dipped and steadily improved with less reps after that. Still have high hopes for him. hes raw but another TC and off season will work wonders for him. Butcher has size, incredible strength and showed great flashes in TC. Think he could easily be at worst a good STer for goal line package / line depth.
  22. With cummings performance this year and signing a deal to try n get an nfl look in the off season, our tightening budget and his salary Id be kinda surprised if he comes back. I wonder how thomas would manage as a starting DT. With rupert butcher coming back (hopefully) and another year for corney we could have enough NI depth at back up Dl to start another nuck.
  23. It has, but how much of that is international immigration? and how many of those are or have become football fans?
  24. we scored a td on the first drive, but kicked a red zone field goal on the 2nd. Thats not nichols skill set, and it sure doesnt help the amount of usage the deep ball gets in our offense. But we had tons and ton of chances to make single plays that would have won the game. If our wrs had made a man miss or broke a tackle they may have walked right in on those plays too.
  25. we had several chances to win the game out right on plays. 2 floated deep passes that should have been tds but the wr had to stop and come back, 1 which led to a fg. More times then can be counted where the D had a chance to make a tackle and prevent a long @$$ run that wouldve swung the tide. Especially the late first half score for bc. With out that, we have all the momentum going in the 2nd. we could have nailed that Fg to end the game, it was like 2-3 yards off medlocks longest of the year. Our adjustments at the half were solid, the play calling was on par with the rest of the year, better on offense. The D could have adjusted much better in the first half to not give up a stupid amount of Yards on the ground, but over all we were out executed. Not out coached. For the whole game, id say we still out played bc over all.
