  2. You say that but offer nothing to back it up. No facts or history. Do you have any roster listings that show ol constantly on every teams 2 man res? Or any thing else that expresses the point? Or just cus you say so?
  3. he wasnt considered an extreme longshot to get more then a cup of coffee down there. Drafted guys in the nfl tend to stick for atleast a couple years. Especially when they are big and very athletic. Hes the type of guy nfl teams love to have at end on a 3-4, or in side a 4-3. Guy gets amazing push and really explodes off the line. *got bilukidi and mulumba crossed.
  4. They would be carrying more linemen if they had more healthy. Mtl has less banged up ol then us. Every one has the same or more. Some teams 4-6 ol. I didnt mean rotating with westerman. I mean they were rotating and backing each other up while we tried to flesh out a starter. Coles only been here for 3 games iirc 1 start. Maybe 2. Im all for rotating DEs, and corney in general gives us a great deal of ability to do that with out hurting the ratio.
  5. The point your missing is that several teams have a ton of guys on the IR.
  6. Some perspective, other lbs weve dressed this year. Briggs 8 games 1 tackle. 0 st tackles. 18 games the last 2 years on teams, 11 tackles on sts each year. 4 and 2 tackles on d. tony burnett 8 games 1 defensive tackle 5 teams tackles. shane gauthier 2 games 0 defensive tackles 1 st tackle. hurl 5 games 0 defensive tackles 3 sts tackles. kyle knox 2 games 0 defensive tackles 2 st tackles. knox and burnett have been DIs obviously hurl and gauthier ni. None of these guys are getting Lber reps unless some one goes down. And thats for 2 spots. Mo is backed up by waggoner and a DB would go into that spot not one of these guys. The rotating ends weve had with greene and formerly hubbard have spent time at DI as well. To great, game changing production as well.
  7. bond was banged up out of tc. but cant say when he got healthy. After a couple weeks into the year thats atleast 1 spot for most of the season. After bond we had mcduffie in the same spot. weve had a dt take snaps on the ol this year. We were lucky a couple times OL have gone down and missed only a series. we are 1 injury thats more then minor away from having no back up ol. every team is not scratching 2 ol every game though. Point is, we are under achieving in the trenches as is. On top of that we have the least depth. In terms of quality and quantity except for maybe the riders. Dis arent on the field the whole time they play situational and on teams. where we have had lbers at TE spot on goal line / short yardage package we would have an ol. Same with blocking on kicks and punts. Have you seen mcduffie on the field the entire game?
  8. Really? how many other teams have put a DT on the ol this year? You provided an opinion which your entitled to, but I provided stats. Do you have any facts to your point? Least in the league with 2 other teams. 1 has a massive amount of injuries the other has 1 win. the best team in the league, has the most. No thats not in the majority. Especially not the majority of teams sitting in play off spots. Couture hasnt looked great or bad. Id agree hes had some flashes not nothing stellar. He hasnt looked terrible. But his glimpses have been far to few and far between. Do i want him to start? ideally no. Him or neufeld? id take him. Him keeping or goossen would be tough tbh. The change would be corney to the majority of reps at DE. Thats not a bad thing at all honestly. he needs snaps to develop. There is also a lot of assumption here that an extra ol has no value if no one gets hurt, and that isnt the case. The massive amount of lbs we have hurting the depth we carry else where isnt just OL. DT, wr, and rb are thin aswell. We are banged up at wr, but we are one injury at ni wr from having a guy whose caught 3 passes in 18 games from starting. And have been close to putting dbs or fbs out at wr this year.
  9. Thats an interesting point. Just means the riders have to reduce vets even further. i think the punishment for this number of roster infractions should be neg list max reduction, or even draft picks eventually if they repeat it this year.
  10. what your saying is that every team uses the 2man for ol alone. And thats just not the case. Even in that case we would be sub norm in big bodies especially ol. Those spots go to guys who are questionable after the depth chart is posted much of the time. Your also saying no what we are doing is the norm, but once keeping is healthy we wont be doing it. If what we are doing is the norm why would we change that?
  11. The draft isnt just cis guys. How many rookie dbs like frederick are ready to step in and contribute at that level? It doesnt matter at all what the norm is. What matters is the talent on the roster. You have to evaluate the players you have and make decisions based on them. Not pre conceived notions. Josiah st john, phillippe gagnon, alex singleton, trent corney, loffler, lots of guys drafted this year have been starting or had a huge impact thats just off the top of my head.
  12. weve done it since then. Its not the league norm by any means to carry 1 back up ol. Not to mention a lack of Dl that can fill in in a pinch. We have the least big men in the league atm . The battle in the trench dictates the game, and big men dictate the battle in the trench. Going into the week we had given up the most sacks, 5th in the league in rushing (with a couple teams that hardly if ever run) 7th in rushing tds. with the lowest YPC in the league.
  13. ehh idk some teams do a much better job of getting better young players in early then others. That type of dave ritchie mentality very often leads to an old team that becomes long in the tooth and comes up short on the field. agree when you have under performing vets plenty of coaches will go for a shake up move.
  14. weve got 9 guys 275+ range theyve got 10 295+ and 1 at 281. ssk has 9 guys 275+ and calgary has 10. Of the three teams we have the most NI flexibility by far.
  15. bc 7 ol, 6 dl edm 7 ol, 7 dl cal 6 ol (3 on injured list) 7 dl ssk 6 ol (6 on injured ist) 6 dl ham 7 ol, 7 dl TO 8 ol, 7 dl ott 7 ol 8 dl mtl 7 ol 8 dl wbb 6 ol (2 on injured list) 6 dl. We are right at the bottom of the league in terms of depth on the line. Sask has 4 more guys on the IR at that position. If rb, wr, db, lb, de kr go down to a drastic point you can plug one of the others in. Weve seen keith stokes start at KR, wr, and rb. Weve seen geoff drover go in at db and make a position change permanently. In an emergency you slide a dt / ol around. But thats a lot of spots that we dont have bodies at. Not to mention overall we havent done a good job with blocking again this year (improved 2 weeks ago but still over all poor) the ability to throw a heavy set wouldnt be bad. Weve got 7 big spots filled by 9 guys. Can any one imagine one of our DEs or lbs playing OL?
  16. thomas at tackle would be a disaster if more then very limited time. Even then itd be bad. Him filling in at guard is much more coverable. I think couture is gonna be a gooder. I can see him over taking goossen in terms of quality next TC. I think if he is thrown to the wolfs and has to start we will take some lumps. But in the long term wont look back. If its bryant that goes down though id be really worried. You then use the extra OL in the goal line formations instead of a LB/back up DL. On both offense and D. You throw him out in some of the situations that we've had our small WRs pinch blocking or been motioning them into the TE position for full time blocking on plays. You block and release or send harris on a route each time. You have that OL who can change his number and go in at DT. Because what happens if an a ol goes down and a DL goes down. Then we have no back up at DT or OL. 1 injury from having some one go both ways and play out of position. You can make use of guys like ol backing up on the roster. NI ol dont grow on trees, we wont dig up any one better then what we have with any ease. It sucks to burn a DI on depth, but with our ability to start NI out of position we are in a better position then most teams to do so.
  17. Depth is certainly better this year then any year since maybe pre mack. Atleast, where we have been hurt. We cant afford another injury on the OL. Or to harris (if flanders produced like he showed in pre season we'd still lose a starting IMP which would have to come from the OL) Or to NI wr, or interior DL. Very few teams would play there best ball through soo many injuries. The depth is exceptional right now, if it was average we'd be in trouble. I think our depth is among the best in the league, if not the best. I credit that to our front office. The fact we kept running out macho with loffler on the bench, neufeld with bond on the bench, JFG, etc i worry about Mos ability to put the best players on the field from the roster he has.
  18. correct my mistake we carried the extra on the 2 man inactive. We had couture come in and then had the banged up OL go back in once, and had thomas go in for a couple series.
  19. Yeah guys like that are a real gamble, taking that risk in the 3rd isnt a poor choice at all on its own face value. How ever when your organization doesnt sign league veterans opting to bring in new talent from the states, and you allready have poor quality NIs/depth, its not a smart gamble. I think taking risks on guys like him is great, when you can afford it. Not to mention most of our drafts in that era didnt go well. So for today having those futures and a chance is better then who we would have picked in all probability. They move the draft back to prevent stuff like that from happening then we go and do it any way xD
  20. Last two weeks hasnt been this team playing at par with its talent level. Harris, jace davis, our Dline, etc. Its better, certainly. But still not on par with the talent.
  21. Perhaps a better way to put it would be I dont think at any point under mos including now has the team played as the sum of its parts. Some individuals will perform no matter who coaches them or if no one does. Some will perform better with a coach like mos, some with a strict coach etc. A good coach gets a team to play as the sum of its part and a great coach has a team playing as more then the sum of its parts. The talent we have at wr and rb, and ol, the DL talent, etc. My point is however, it doesnt matter what excuses or reasons come up. The only out, is making the play offs. Short of a big run in the play offs, it buys him into early next season.
  22. No weve went through 2 back ups in 2 games this year and not put thomas in yet.
  23. mistakenly replied thinking it was the other thread xD
  24. Right and they had the whole improper ratio going and stuff. Team is a mess.
  25. It used to happen a lot. Teams would pay guys to stick around off roster, or pay PR guys extra money to stick around, (pr money used to be ridiculously small) now guys get hidden on IR. On and off the 6 game every couple weeks the way teams game the roster has changed. The problem is the riders havent been doing it the new way.
