  1. To ensure you get him. On the free market you have to compete for his services, with really no second guy available. Same reason ott gave us a low pick for browns rights before free agency. I think it’s a question of how much value do you give up?
  2. Edm trades for vaj, then signs buck to be their hc next year.
  3. Rourke sprains his thorax, leading to farhan needing a 6 game stint on the ir after losing his mind.
  4. What’s the point of having a cap at all at that point?
  5. Not only that, Adams can play any position in a 30 or 40 front. He’s the most versatile piece in our front 6. Shades of Chris jones. They teased us with a semi competent line up last week and this week are gonna screw it up. He’d go on the 1 game or be a scratch not the pr.
  6. Ugh hate that Adams is off for Habba. Like habba but we shouldn’t be making that switch.
  7. Yep kinda surprised from both tbh. I wouldn’t want to give a guy the top contract in the league based on half a season, yikes. Vaj is for sure on the market now. I get that but at the same time bc is 1 game above .500, and have scored fewer points than they’ve given up. Hes been solid, but after getting lit up several times last year and then shut down by us plus the fact he’s already 31, I don’t think he has a place to be pissed. Some one else will start him, he hasn’t played him self into the position Rourke was when he left. Hes constantly come up just short of Rourkes high water mark. LMAO bc never learns!
  8. I think it’s a small chance Rourke would play this half a season for Pennies, so he could be an un restricted fa next year and get a cap crippling contract from some one. Idk if bc does any thing, unless Rourke signs an extension.
  9. Yeah, be nice if he was back soon. But he might need time to get in shape too. I hope when he goes on (or another imp de) its as a di and doesn’t bring off another imp dl. Nailed it. Plus we’ve got some 6 game money for air lifts to the pr. I don’t see us using that money to actually improve.
  10. Wonder if we see a reshuffle of the pr coming soon. With lawler getting healthy and lucky taking a spot doesn’t make sense to keep Alston around. Imagine Johnson to the pr and Alston goes home. Mitchell could be sent out for an nfl cut too. doesn’t make sense to keep grimes mcghee and bridges all around when we are using Kelly at half, rostering karamoko, and are dressing griffin as a back up/dime and he’s been killing it. I could see two of them sent packing for nfl cuts. Smith and case are pretty interchangeable, though I’d rather have a di who could play rb than wr. I could see him sent packing for an nfl cut too. I could see us being in the market for a de if habba isn’t going to be ready soon. A wil/sam/s tweener like Cole to replace him if he won’t be back this year would be good. A 4th qb audition for camp wouldn’t be a surprise. A punter would be really fantastic but probably won’t happen till the off season.
  11. Mtl was a good bad team before they took over. The coch and anger management took it up a notch for sure. drafted well, developed and found us talent well, didn’t get roped into over paying guys in free agency. Fajardo is making mid tier qb money, other wise they don’t have any guys in the top 25 paid. They exemplify next man up the most. That’s why they are the top team.
  12. Browns out week to week with his injury.
  13. The cc shouldn’t be able to review what ever it wants. Turn overs, scores, qb/p/k hits, should all be reviewed, but with out stopping the game. Have 2 officials in separate areas review the play independently. Each one grades the play with out knowing the call on the field. Combined with the call on the field the majority rules. Cap the time for reviews at say 2 minutes in the final 3, or 1 minute other wise. Senior director of reffing answers questions after each week on calls, with the integrity of the game as most important. Not protecting refs. In the mlb you can see how accurate refs are with the strike zone, ump grading hasn’t hurt the umps. If any thing the top tier have been shown to be extraordinary at their job.
  14. CC and the refs need to be full time employees who are held accountable for their performances. The lack of consistency in rule enforcement, and challenges is as bad as it’s ever been in the cfl. Changes need to be made this year.
  15. Ol do not get long term stays on prs. You don’t find mbt esq ol who have bounced prs for a decade. He will have a lot of teams interest while he holds interest down south, but when it passes, it’ll be all gone fast.
  16. Happens with young ol and ol changes. In theory we could get him this year, not real likely though. If he gets dinged up in camp down south though the chances of him being here in camp next year is extremely high. The nfl churns through ol prospects fast too. Guys don’t get a lot of repeated looks or time to develop if they don’t show out early.
  17. Eli isn’t a guard, Wallace isn’t ready. Yep, and Dobson has been good after a bit of a rough start, and the rights the gio manu as well. I’d still probably draft an ok in the top 3-4 rounds next year, but we are is very good shape for ni ol.
  18. Don’t think he’s lost a step, but he is certainly struggling with in his role, and even struggling at executing blocks. Hes a no2 guy, he’s robin not Batman. He does more for other guys than any wr in the league. If you have to pick 2 of the 3 you are best off with Demski and either guy. Not the other two with out demski. With out good guys to open stuff up for a lot of value is lost with Demski. Demski is getting a really big pay day. We have too much money tied up in too few positions for sure. If you look at the top 10 paid wrs in the league this year, most are behind nik in production. But, once lawler is back I think nik will play and provide much more again. Keep in mind he’s on track for almost 1000 yards again, his catch rate is very similar to Wilson’s, and Zack struggled soo badly for much of the first half. I would love to see Demski take a more team friendly deal next year.
  19. That’s two Canadians and 4 starters
  20. Idk. Harris is one of the guys who worries me the least at qb in the league. I could see the road teams winning the ldc/bjb. This is the stretch where we need to win and be splitting or above. especially after the last week we gotta find games to steal.
  21. He’s a high floor low ceiling passer. A team can only run the same stuff for soo long. Especially coming up short in the play offs over and over again. At some point you have to move on. Often in football you have to take a step back before you can move forward. You can go back further and further and all you ever see is him not starting and not being consistent. Honestly I think he’s only stayed in the league soo long because he’s a lazy safe pick. A rookie is a risk on an ar, and a lot of work to find the best available option and fit for you.
  22. Great combo. Like the game with out Kate on the panel. But alas tsn is married to the concept of mediocrity. With Kate atleast they try to compensate with a big persona, Glenn brings nothing though. Paul/ferguson have a great level of genuine enthusiasm, knowledge, and talent. If tsn trusted the product to sell it self and treated it seriously with production quality and staffing to match the league would be in a much better place with the under 35 demographic.
  23. Exactly, and the less we play Thomas with them taking more reps the more help it’ll be. I’m not sure garbutt will be the perfect compliment but he sure does look promising. I think a good rotation with haba wj garbutt and hubert will be good. Plus Adams with some snaps at edge. Even woods has done it. It certainly doesn’t diminish, and his instincts are as sharp as ever. In basketball some shot blockers diminish suddenly with age, but most don’t too badly. He should be effective in the pass lanes till he retires. It might be best for him if we don’t use him on the nose, and use him more as a jack in the 30 package especially. Let him get good jumps and clear angles with less time locked up on tackles.
  24. wj requires a strong structure and support in order to excel. That includes limiting hit reps so he is at 100% and has to go 100% on each snap, as well as keeping double teams/chipping blockers off him, also a clear set of keys to play off for when to go for a pkd instead of a sack. When he lacks that crucial support we get what we’ve seen this and last year. Spurts of utter brilliant domination followed by lackadaisical indecisive floating. A high motor bull on the opposite edge who he can go back and forth with taking shallow and deep angles is a big help. Plus when one side of the pocket is consistently pushed it naturally brings about passes to his side which opens his chances for pkds with out selling out for them. A big nose tackle who mashes the centre goes a long way too, basically makes it irresponsible to try and double wj. A few things to keep in mind with wj, he’s closer to 34 than 33, which is pretty old for a rush end. Hes always been exceptionally quick, more than fast, and that is the first thing to fade with age. Also, tall/long lean guys especially on the line face a greater risk of injuries from over extension, and getting tangled etc. if you lose the bend in your legs/arms even for a second and get locked up with a guy it’s a huge hazard. If that happens to a no neck thumper built like stove they can try to muscle through it, might lose the battle but not nearly the injury risk. Getting doubled and chipped frequently as an old long tall lean pass rusher is extremely wearing. Previously we used versatile guys like biggie, stove, ba, kongbo etc to put wj in a position to excel. Two of those guys are long gone and the wheels have fallen off the other 2. We have new versatile guys stepping up like Nichols, Adams, and woods. But they are mostly trying to help prop up guys with the wheels fallen off. When they aren’t watching a clunker take their reps. Imagine if they got rourke. I could never safely listen to tsn again. If Wilson gets 1k, and if Castillo keeps it up they have the best shot imo. Brady might not even win west moc, mcinnis likely does at this rate. Which honestly I’d be ok with at this rate. He’s been dynamite.
  25. I’m hopeful he can come back and regain his former level of play. Hard to say if he misses a year. But even then at 85% he’d still be a big upgrade and we don’t need him to play a crazy amount of reps between 30/40 fronts, with woods fox and adams as well
