Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
Eternal optimist replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Even if we won a Grey Cup using backdoor, underhanded tactics as you suggest - it is still cheating and would tarnish that championship forever. I would much rather the drought continue and honestly win a Grey Cup, or try to do so than use those tactics. The "it is only cheating/illegal if you're caught" logic is a slippery slope at best, and led to much bigger problems in other much more real issues at worst. For a fantastic, terrifying example of what happens when an entire industry lies through their teeth, look no further than the housing market crash in 2008. -

I just meant starting LeFevour in Davis' place... but I understand your confusion. -

Seeing as how clock-and-dagger this regime has been with injuries... is it possible Davis was hurt in the B.C. game, prompting his untimely yank? Would also explain why they'd give him the week off... -

I think people are underestimating how badly this regime wants to host a home playoff game. If they feel LeFevour is their best option (besides Nichols)... right now, today...they'll go with him. -

Only problem with that logic is you have to go through Ottawa - who have the opportunity to win the GC at home... that stadium will be raucous. -

The three possible (realistic) outcomes are: Bombers win, Edmonton wins -> WSF in Winnipeg VS Edmonton Bombers lose, Edmonton wins -> WSF in Edmonton VS Winnipeg Bombers loses, Edmonton loses-> WSF in Winnipeg VS SSK This is why I hate the crossover system - one of these three teams has to go play in Ottawa / Toronto, despite the fact that team will, at worst, have one more win than the first place team in the east. The other thing that is kind of a "pick your poison" scenario for the Blue & Gold is, omitting the possibility of a tie, Winnipeg is going to play a team coming off a 3-game winning streak. -
Bye bye Dan suicide pass Lefevour...

Our only touchdown was a blocked punt, kick coverage was stellar all night, and Fogg had some nice returns. -
Should this regime be on the hot seat?
Eternal optimist replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yeah, could the defense have played better yesterday? Absolutely... but there were times where they shone, they caused some turnovers that kept us in it and gifted LeFevour and Co. the ball at B.C's 15 yard line and they couldn't even get a first down... -
How can the Blue NOT host the semi?
Eternal optimist replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Honestly, the way we're playing we don't deserve to host the Western semi-final. -
Leo's @ Bombers: Nail In Buono's Coffin Edition

Can we talk about complete abandonment of the running game before the opening kickoff? I know we were struggling, but if we were at least running the ball on 1st, we could've given the D a bit more of a breather... -
2014 was their first year in the league and we split the season series with them. They were 2-16 that year.

Another team in the East? Sounds like another two free wins for the Blue and Gold every year.... sounds good to me!

I would love to respect him, but I faked an injury instead. -

I don't care if he's Ghandi, Einstein or Mike O'Shea. I hate anything 'Riders indiscriminately. -

Well then, I stand corrected. -
Any and every profession has its crooks and other undesirables.

I want the away side to make Thorpe wish he never came back to IGF if the Riders' play us in the WSF.

I just find the call for an outside run particularly odd. The safe play in that situation would be to run it up the gut, line up the field goal for the win. The aggressive call would be to try for a 10+ yard pass downfield, hoping for a better shot at the kick. The call for an outside run is the worst of both situations... doesn't catch them off-guard, and also doesn't line it up for the kicker. On top of that, even if they DID catch the Argo's napping, the reward would've been minimal... maybe at best a 15-yard run? -

You're right... Medlock's expected to make that kick. I just find that sometimes LaPo's playcalling puts the team (or individual players) in unnecessary predicaments. If you go back to when Toronto/Winnipeg played (in Winnipeg), the Bombers had a chance to run (most) of the clock off with the ball at their own 25 yard line. LaPo's play call on 2nd and 5? A deep ball to L'Damian Washington causing a 2 and out. We ended up getting away with it though as Heath intercepted Ray's pass on the next series. -
