  1. I would argue you mentioned one in your first post for WSF. Thigpen giving up the rouge ended up being massive points-wise. If he hadn't done that, Riders are down by six instead of seven and suddenly a field goal seems much more potent. Although on 3rd and 1 from the 1, they likely still would have gone for it, one could easily make the case they instead settle for 3, then have a chance to tie down by 3 again late. Bombers were arguably reeling a bit at that point, I don't think they would've outlasted them in OT. That field goal post looked like it was stuck in the mud on every defense play except the last one.
  2. Dude just died man, show some respect.
  3. I doubt anyone else cares, but I'm making chocolate pancakes for the missus this morning, despite the world being on fire. I suggest you do the same. It's the little things lol.
  4. What a wonderful morning to not be an American citizen.
  5. Well, to put things in perspective the Spanish Flu lasted approximately 2 1/2 years with absolutely no physical distancing or other such measures in place... the much bigger problem though is modern day there are more transmitters (i.e. people), and COVID-19 is much more infectious. On the bright side, uhhh... daylight savings time so a 49-hour long weekend, I guess?...
  6. Obligatory complaint ramble ramble ramble.
  7. I really don't understand why the CFL doesn't consider doing this. It's old footage that was previously paid to produce, and other companies in other industries are doing this in droves. Look at Nintendo - their Switch Membership ($25 / year for online access) targets the younger and older audiences alike. Younger kids are enticed by the ability to play their fancy new games online. Older people like myself can play SNES/NES classics (Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario All-Stars) through the emulators which come as part of the package deal. $25 Nintendo gets every year from me, mostly for old content they already produced 30+ years ago. They've even taken it a step further recently offering "3D Mario All-Stars", which is a bundling of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy for $60 for the Switch... Personally I think that is too much, but it would've cost them minimal amounts to port those old games (which have production costs that are largely sunk costs) onto the Switch. The costs are even lower for the CFL, considering the only real cost would be a secure site and website interface...
  8. I think I slept through an NFL game once by accident... fell asleep watching Antiques Roadshow... woke up to see the winning team winding down the last 2 minutes of the game.
  9. Another classic was Dressler torching them for two TD's in the 2017 season opener after Jonesy released him.
  10. I would pay good money to someone to allow me to openly mock Roughrider players/fans after any of the following events: Throwing an interception Losing a fumble Dropping a pass Getting a divorce after sleeping with their own cousin Sleeping with farm animals Getting remarried to cousin noted in (4), after cousin realized you weren't related to farm animal in (5) Kickers hitting a field goal post Quarterbacks also hitting a field goal post "Sticking it" to your rival by retiring as a QB 2 weeks before season starts, only to have your roster spot taken by Streveler resulting in a Grey Cup win for your rival. That time their mascot was accused of sexual assault (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/sexual-assault-advocates-gainer-reaction-1.5222683) All those years we had two teams named "Roughriders" in the CFL and they both sucked. In 1986 they both finished at the bottom of their division. Appropriate. Fun Fact to break things up - Saskatchewan holds the CFL record for largest loss by shutout, and is also the runner up! (they lost 56-0 to Winnipeg on July 5, 1986, and lost to Edmonton 55-0 on August 24, 1959) Every "too many men" penalty they take, seriously it is funny every single time
  11. MBB should pool our funds together to get Duron Carter's name on the cup so when it is all said and done he can at least say he accomplished something 🤣
  12. I think the point Speedflex is trying to make is even though the Grey Cup trophy itself won't physically be altered, the fact they're offering space on a "Grey Cup base" dilutes its' history and renown...
  13. Sad but true state of affairs, even in Winnipeg look no further than the Human Rights museum debacle for racism, sexism and general injustices.
  14. Meanwhile, in Saskatchewan... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon/typewriter-repairman-receives-personal-letter-from-tom-hanks-1.5702286
  15. Except that's exactly what the Liberals have done through the Canada Emergency business account... not only is it interest free, they get a 25% loan forgiveness if it's repaid in full by December 31, 2022. The only requirement to get the loan is payroll in between $50,000 and $1 million. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2020/03/additional-support-for-canadian-businesses-from-the-economic-impact-of-covid-19.html#_New_Loan_Programs
  16. Could we do a quote instead? "Too many men on the field.... Saskatchewan"
  17. This just reeks of cash-grab to me... every aspect of it just seems such a gimmicky way of doing things... the fact that the certificate of authenticity is digital and I can have an 'augmented reality' of the Grey Cup in my home? So... $400 for a bad photoshop and a PDF? Yeah...hard pass. The missus and I already got our photo (which was free, by the way) with the real Grey Cup, went to the game when they won... oh and speaking of the Grey Cup... just wanted to point out this gimmick costs MORE than an actual ticket to the Grey Cup?
  18. I really do think the unsung hero in this game was Geoff Gray, knew how to play on the edge and did just enough to get under Edmonton's skin... all whilst not being penalized. Dirty? Arguably...game-changing? 3 minutes and change after Strev gets stuffed on 2nd and 12, two stupid Edmonton penalties kept that drive alive allowing more time to be chewed off the clock.
  19. Okay so if you are City of Winnipeg property taxpayer and have a public library card, you can access the Winnipeg Free Press archives. The photo you are referring to here occurs on page 55. To access it, you just need a Winnipeg Library Card (link below) https://access-newspaperarchive-com.wpl-dbs.winnipeg.ca/ca/manitoba/winnipeg/winnipeg-free-press/1981/08-10/page-55 I can also screenshot and send it to you if you'd prefer that instead... that or teach me how to post images on here lol (I still don't know how).
  20. In university, worked at the movie theater (Silvercity) as a projectionist as well, so could often keep track of the game easily as I'd listen to Irving while threading shows... could see the scoreboard between East/West booth of the theater. I can thread a 45-mm film projector in under a minute, which goes on the long list of non-employable skills I acquired from that job - wasn't all bad though, threading film was super-easy once you got the hang of it, managers were pretty laid back and was able to graduate university debt-free as a result of it (had class during the day, would work the night shifts for shows during the week). As a kid, was always a fan, but my first real live experience that was memorable was in 2010 when Bombers came back from a 21-point deficit in the 4th quarter. Absolutely crazy game and was the first one I attended live with my then-girlfriend (now wife). Next year we agreed to get season tickets and have enjoyed it ever since. Side-note, because of that game, my wife and I never, ever ever ever leave a CFL game early. Which resulted in witnessing the Montreal miracle a few years back, which was also awesome. She's also even more optimistic than I am, I remember during their abysmal 2013 season she'd also say "at least it's an outing..." which was, technically, true.
  21. Since we're all gushing over Strevs anyways, just thought I'd mention he is one of the only QBs I've ever seen that goes out of his way to make blocks for his teammates. Other QBs do it in critical situations (such as on a WR double reverse) but he's just straight out there looking to hit someone. Best example I can think of was in the Grey Cup at 4:05 of the shortened highlights, seals off #94 perfectly. https://www.cfl.ca/2019/11/24/gc107-recap-winnipeg-33-hamilton-12/
  22. Just stopping in to say I too was one of the doubters. Mr. Collaros, you sir will always be remembered fondly for that magical 2019 Grey Cup run, helped push us over the top at just the right time. Also, yes, I love this idea and can't wait to see Fajardo throw that post pattern.
  23. Hey a Trudeau's facade of caring about the average Canadian taxpayer is better than no facade at all... right?
  24. I get where you're coming from, but personally I've always had peace with the thought that the league just wouldn't be the same without the Argos...
