  1. Filled Streveler's role adequately in the last regular season game too. Also, Bennett did a fantastic job of getting sacked in the Western Final last year.
  2. I'm just glad the CFL had the foresight to realize SSK will be so bad they won't be in the Grey Cup for 2020, give some other teams a chance to host...
  3. I'd rather burn out than fade away, I guess.
  4. Am I the only one enjoying discounted stocks whilst this whole thing is going on? As a millennial, it gives me false hope of possibly retiring (even without a pension) before like... 80.
  5. Y'know I was going to post about how I don't pick on you and stuff... but then I went through my recent posts and I have, for whatever reason, commented on your posts more often than not. Just wanted to apologize lol. Also, thanks for making me question my own subconscious and overall existential purpose.
  6. Aside from misguided pride, remained me again why we would want the CFL playing here in pandemic situations? We wouldn't be able to go to the games either way, and being a "hub city" would the risk of COVID-19 in Winnipeg as players from other provinces would be traveling in from outside.
  7. Anyone trying to claim they know the financial stability of a team they don't have access to at minimum the most recent financial statements for is just spewing nonsense... just because the owner also owns an NHL team or some other venture means absolutely nothing, even if this preconceived notion would indicate said owner has the financial means to keep a CFL franchise afloat, there's nothing stopping them from scuttling it regardless, even if they just thought it was bleeding too much.
  8. Preventing the Bombers from registering an even greater profit were expenses from an all-road playoff run to the Grey Cup, an $800,000 increase from the previous year’s playoff costs, and the CFL’s temporary takeover of the Montreal Alouettes, which cost each team $660,000. ...It is good to know we currently own the Alouettes both on and off the field.
  9. Thought we could all use a humorous article given the dark times... https://torontosun.com/business/money-news/whoops-cibc-customer-phone-number-leads-to-adult-party-line
  10. Oh don't even go there... I don't want to go back to the knit vs. crochet argument.
  11. I can't find any source online, but I recall hearing Simon say in an interview that the reason he did the pose was so when his son was watching the game, he'd know it was his dad scored a touchdown. So as stupid as it looked, that's a pretty darn good reason to do it in my opinion.
  12. Personally, I think it's because the Feds have the ability to just "make" money like wizards... as for Ambrosie's pie-in-the-sky figure of $150,000,000, I think that was a negotiation tactic... Probably doesn't expect that full amount to come through, but it's easier to bargain down than up. Just my 2 cents.
  13. Ooh, ooh! I love making lists! Jake Gaudaur (1968-1984) Douglas Mitchell (1984 - 1988) Bill Baker / Roy McMurty (1989) J. Donald Crump (1990 - 1991) Larry Smith (1992 - 1997) John Tory (1997 - 2000) Michael Lysko (2000 - 2002) David Braley (interim) (2002) Tom Wright (2002 - 2007) Mark Cohon (2007 - 2015) Jim Lawson (interim) (2015) Jeffrey Orridge (2015 - 2017) Jim Lawson (interim) (2017) Randy Amrbosie (2017 - present) Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Football_League#League_commissioners Haven't vetted the source because surprised if anyone cares about this lol.
  14. Didn't really ask any questions, he didn't have any answers to stuff I didn't already know, league suspended to-date as of July 1, 2020 etc. etc. As for the 2020 season tickets, they've been a fine organization and I've retained both my invoice and proof of payment, I'm not too concerned about getting scammed etc., and thankfully I'm not in a position right now where I would need the money that urgently. I think they are in the same position as many businesses in the country and world right now, cloud of uncertainty and just trying to stay afloat.
  15. Just wanted to drop in and say as a season ticket member, received a call from the Bomber office this week checking in to see if I had any questions regarding COVID-19's impact on the CFL season (or other questions for them). The current situation is by no means ideal, but Miller and Co have done a great job reestablishing goodwill that prior regimes in this organization burnt through too quickly.
  16. I don't think it's that unreasonable... I did a quick google search of the 9 teams for sets of financials. Here's the results Saskatchewan Roughriders 2018-2019 financials https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2019/07/15827-2018-19-SR-Annual-Report-FA.pdf Winnipeg Blue Bombers 2018 report https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2019/04/2018-Winnipeg-Blue-Bombers-Annual-Report.pdf Edmonton Eskimos 2018 report https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2019/05/2018-Annual-Report-FINAL.pdf Couldn't find anything for the other teams... but even just the three reports above show expenses of $40,372,235 (SSK), $30,819,350 (WPG) and $23,601,333 which is close to $95 million in expenses. Of course that includes non-operating things, like amortization, but considering that's just expenses from three of the nine teams in the league, that'd mean the other teams would need just $55 million between them to hit the $150 million they're requesting. Additionally, as the general public tightens their collective belts, season ticket revenues will drop, as tickets by most people are considered non-essential services, the timing is particularly bad for the CFL. On top of that, just as an example, almost a third of Winnipeg's 2018 revenue came directly from games, which obviously they don't have that cash-flow currently.
  17. You could say the same thing about a lot of our other industries in Canada too.

  19. Land of the free, home of the infected.
  20. Relevant.
  21. Aw man, looks like my hobby of standing directly in front of coughing old people for prolonged periods of time is gonna have to be shelved for a bit.
  22. Unless he personally really needs the money, he'd be selling himself short by doing this...
  23. Absolutely, however, I would counter with the fact that this is a horrendous disease for some, regardless of age. Yes, the majority of 30-somethings will be largely unaffected by it, but you have to realize if you throw caution to the wind, and a close member of your family contracts it and has serious complications resulting in death, you'll have to live forever with the knowledge that you caused them to die alone. What you are describing is utilitarianism, and historically it has been used to justify some of the most abhorrent events in human history, anything can be justified for "the greter good", I hardly think it is a justifiable philosophical hill to die upon.
  24. https://www.cfl.ca/2020/04/07/ambrosie-issues-statement-behalf-cfl/ Season officially delayed to at least June 30 due to COVID-19 concerns
  25. Yep, COVID-19 is definitely what dashed my professional football career... that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
