  1. Say what you want about his play, but he loves our city, his daughter's middle name is named after our city. People here say he's a crybaby, but nobody on this forum (except maybe Tburgess) has had even 1,000 people angry at them at the same time. That stuff stays with you, even if you are a professional.
  2. This is a terrible measure, winning a Grey Cup is a team effort. By your logic, Milt Stegall, Charles Roberts and Jack Jacobs are all bums
  3. Drew Willy never looked the same after his knee injury in 2015. Oddly enough, Nichols career has a similar story line, albeit with more talent around him (thus resulting in a better overall record).
  4. Regarding management of our current and potential QBs, I agree that our organization both currently, and historically, has been horrendous at managing, and developing quarterbacking talent. Regardless of Nichols success/failure this year, Streveler has got to be the guy going forward, O'Shea's logic of essentially never pulling/resting starters has completely backfired in multiple scenarios, and worse it has resulted in our backups being greener than they need to be when called upon due to inevitable injuries.
  5. It's the devil you know vs. the devil you don't...they could make the switch and end up worse off in the long run. Besides, there are other facets of our O that haven't performed well.. Matthews only had his first TD reception in the 4th against the Argos, despite his injury-riddled season and inconsistent play, nobody seems to be calling for his head.
  6. That's because it is purely speculation... does nobody else remember things before Nichols? Drew Willy left to die on the field... Justin Goltz... Brian Brohm?!?? People seem to forget it was Streveler - not Nichols - that air mailed that open pass late in the 3rd quarter of the Western Final last year. Nichols has done everything he can to get better and come back from injury, he's a selfless leader, and owns his mistakes when he makes them. Is he perfect? Absolutely not, however he is still our QB, and has given his all for the city - show him at least some level of respect.
  7. Anyone else here notice Harris has 4 fumbles in 7 games, I can't find a full listing of fumbles by other RBs in 2019 for comparison, but that seems like a lot to me.
  8. Sure... the point is, dollar for dollar, they get the most mileage out of their players without having to pay premiums to get big free agent signings.
  9. They build from the draft within, it seems every year there are new unproven guys on their squad that step in.... they certainly don't do it by signing players for $700,000 a year, Mitchell is the exception, not the rule.
  10. You can't have your cake and eat it too, either one of those guys would be a massive cap hit, and the team would suffer in other positions.
  11. Stafford is 13th in receiving yardage as of Week 7 (Week 8 stats aren't out yet), always thought he was a steady player, though certainly past his prime now...
  12. I understand everyone purchasing a ticket is entitled to boo/cheer etc. but personally I always hate when a home crowd boos their own team. If they're playing like trash, they already know it, they don't need their own fans rubbing salt in the wound to boot. The one exception is if it is 'Riders fans booing their own team - that on the other hand is poetic justice.
  13. I believe he's alluding to the fact that of late the Stampeders organization just seems to keep on winning in spite of adversity and critics... just like the New England Patriots in the NFL have been doing for years under Bellicheck and Tom Brady. Fun fact: Calgary was originally founded as the "Calgary Grid Co-op", later changing their name to the Calgary Stampeders during their inaugural 1945 season. They were also graced with a perfect season (12-0) in 1948 accompanied by a Grey Cup win. The 1948 perfect season was the only one of the 12-game or 14-game eras. Under the 16-game schedule and current 18-game schedule, no team has ever gone undefeated in either format, the closest being the '81 Eskimos (14-1-1) and the '89 Eskimos (16-2-0).
  14. Agree to disagree I guess, in both games, we were very much so in the game until the final whistle, people need to realize the other team is trying to win the game as well.
  15. You guys are way too pessimistic 1. We're currently still undefeated at home. 2. CAL comes to town off a short week. 3. Every game starts 0-0, despite what others posters here might be led to believe.
  16. Didn't realize we were that close in age - I was born in '89, so I was just over 1 when they won.
  17. Things I've done since their last Grey Cup! 1. Graduated high school 2. University diploma 3. Got married 4. Had a kid You have till November before I pay off my house and become debt-free, you bums.
  18. Food for thought: Teams playing on a short week* are 6-13 this year Teams playing off a bye week are 5-4 * I considered a short week to be less than 7 days between games, for example, EDM's W3 game against WPG was a short week as there was only 6 days between W2 and W3 for them. We get CAL on a short week at home on Thursday.
  19. Thanks for nothing, Hamilton. Long weekend ruined before it even started.
  20. No stars. No happy honkers. Think about what you just did, Bombers.
  21. Welp, this will be my go-to ammunition for any 'Riders fan that brings up Durant's antics when retiring as a Bomber. Sure, he screwed us out of $70,000 but they paid Collaros $200,000 in 2019 willingly for the following stat line: 1 rush - 7 yards.
  22. Hey now, our mascot wasn't the one accused of "inappropriate" behavior in a recent game against the Lions! https://globalnews.ca/news/5667246/saskatchewan-roughriders-mascot-inappropriate-behaviour-stuffed-lion/
  23. Alright, well I was going to make a post about how opponent combined record doesn't really correlate with anything you're saying... so here's what I found: Team name, record (Wins against) - W-L - Winning % (Note: Duplicate wins against the same team omitted for W/L record) MTL, 3-2 (HAM/OTT/EDM) - 11-7 - (0.611) OTT, 2-4 (CAL/SSK) - 7-5 - (0.583) HAM, 5-1 (OTT/SSK/TOR/MTL/WPG) - 13-16 - (0.448) WPG, 5-1 (BC/EDM/OTT*2/TOR) - 7-18 - (0.280) CAL, 4-2 (BC/SSK/TOR/OTT) - 6-19 (0.240) EDM, 4-2 (MTL/BC/TOR/BC) - 4-14 (0.222) SSK, 3-3 (TOR/BC*2) - 1-12 (0.077) BC, 1-6 (TOR) - 0-6 (0.000) TOR, 0-6 Indeterminate, they haven't posted a win yet. I find it interesting though that MTL and OTT have the best percentages despite being middle of the pack - Ottawa's inconsistent play really shows thanks to their win against CAL. TLDR; Juran's right.
  24. They will be in a world of hurt if Fajardo goes down... their QB backups (per their Week 7 depth chart): Isaac Harker: Cracked their roster in 2019, has only played in 2 games to-date with just under 30 passing attempts. He also has 0 TDs and 3 INTs. Bryan Bennet: Former Bomber - started 18 games, mostly on STs, has a total of 8 career passing attempts to-date. He hasn't thrown any TDs or INTs to date, given his limited reps. I don't think Collaros' health would've impacted the decision - he hasn't looked the same for a number of years. The fact the 'Riders have managed a .500 record so far with such a thin QB roster is surprising.
