Obviously my opinion is biased as a Winnipeg local, but I think developing talent for our team is particularly important. Lots of players speak of how much they love playing in Winnipeg once they get here, no doubt some of that talk is sugar-coated. That said - if we can develop young players while they have cheap contracts, they tend to like it here. This in turn makes for an easier bargaining process down the line when those players want to get paid. Just my two cents. -
This is quite simply amazing.

You are correct, the team will go through its fair share of studs and duds. My point is how long each of these guys managed to stick around - 1. Carmichael - Played in 10 games in 2017 where he was woefully inadequate. Interestingly he was replaced by Walker, perfect example of the team successfully moving on from a bad player. 2. Addison Richards - Was with us since 2015, he didn't even play a snap in 2017, also he dumped us (he retired). 3. Davis - Also here since 2015 and has since been cut. 4. Kris Bastien - He was with us for all of the 2015 season - he still hasn't played a single snap in the CFL for any team. We cut him just before the start of the 2016 season. I think we need to learn to cut our losses on players that just don't cut it and move on when something just isn't there. -

I would argue they also found Carmichael, Addison Richards, Dominique Davis and Kris Bastien whilst digging. -

Clearly, there are people in the world that simply don't know how much they don't know (i.e. they're oblivious to their own ignorance). -

Cops in Winnipeg Beach, eh? It's entirely possible they were just on a slow shift... pulled you two over because it was something to do. -

The entire purpose of a police force is to enforce the legislation that is currently in effect, they can't speculate on when, or if marijuana legalization will get punched through. Obviously, legalization is likely going to happen, as it stands right now though, it is illegal. In football, would you get mad if a referee didn't let a team have their 2nd challenge in a game, because he knew that the next week the CFL was going to announce that each team was limited to one challenge? What if he was pretty sure they were going to change the rule say, 5 months from then? -
What? In the past few years, the NFL has put in Thursday night football which has diluted their product, and added to player injuries. On top of that, their current concussion "protocol" is laughable... look at how the Texans handled Tom Savage, he was back on the field for the next series after he took that hit. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000899837/article/texans-wont-be-disciplined-for-tom-savage-concussion In neither of these situations is the NFL looking out for their players. Add on top of that, their league is losing viewership in droves (http://www.latimes.com/business/hollywood/la-fi-ct-nfl-ratings-20180104-story.html), remind me again why they should be our role model?

I wouldn't change a thing. The review system is imperfect, so what? Even if somehow referees were hypothetically able to call a perfect game 100% of the time, you'd still have fans griping about bad calls.. unfortunately it is just in the very nature to be inherently biased as fans.

Your argument has merit - but there's no way LaFrance would be as adept as a 5th receiver as Flanders. He only has 14 catches in 2 years in the league. It'd be neat to see LaFrance play in front of his hometown, but I think you're underestimating the dropoff in talent from Flanders to him. -

I understand Wilder's frustration, but I think he needs to realize that he is under contract, and as much as this is bad press for the Argos, it is also bad press for him. Also, a contract is just that - a contract. -

Other former CFL studs currently slated to play in the American Arena League (which has its inaugural season in 2018) Ronald Johnson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Johnson_(American_football) I probably could've found more, but only about half of the teams actually have a functioning website with a roster. -

A 3rd round CFL pick would be a very, very hard sell. Riders are stupid, but even they aren't that stupid. If Jones really wanted him out, he'd just cut him loose. I'd agree that Glenn is a better backup than Durant, but I think people are overestimating Durant's ability to bargain in the league right now - if he's relegated to backup status now, most teams are pretty stable at the position. A quick rundown of the current backup status for each team (I've bolded who I think would've made offers to him) Calgary - Buckley seems to have 2nd string down, besides they seem to have no problem digging up QBs. Edmonton - Signed Glenn - no need for another backup Winnipeg - We really needed a backup Sask. - He got run out of town here a few years ago B.C. - They have Lulay, but he could be done... Toronto - Argos acquired James Franklins' rights - even if Ray retires, Fajardo seems okay. Montreal - He just got released here Hamilton - Maybe - but they seem set on Manziel sweepstakes... Ottawa - I could've seen him going here too. Coming off another bad year - I don't think Durant would've been able to ask for too much. If we didn't overpay for him, I think it's a good signing. -

Wait... what? 1. What would you give up to get Adams? It'd be a tough sell to our rival, especially for a player in the most important position in the CFL. I don't think they'd be interested in Davis or LeFevour. 2. Cato played 30 games for the Als over the 2015/2016 seasons - the Als were 6-12 and 7-11. Not only that, he's a guy that is known to have attitude issues, and you want to bring him in as a bench warmer? 3. Glenn (38) is even older than Durant (35). Besides, for contract negotiations, if you're pinching pennies, who would you rather negotiate a price with? - Glenn - who just finished another year leading a team into the playoffs, known as the best backup in the business right now. - Durant - Just released from tire-fire city, coming off some of his worst years. End of the day, management recognized that Davis/LeFevour aren't going to cut it if Nichols goes down. They tried for Glenn, he asked to much - so we got Durant instead. -
Top 10 Greatest Bomber Moments of All Time
Eternal optimist replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
By no means one of the greatest moments of all-time but for me, personally, one of the best bomber moments was their 4th quarter comeback in 2010 in overtime against the B.C. Lions when they were down 32-14 with about 10 minutes left in the 4th... got season tickets the next year and haven't looked back. Here's a link to the highlights if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xj8fPebMdPI -
