Darren Cameron Blog (for discussion): "Patience Is A Virtue"
Dragon37 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It isn't all on the O-line, IMHO. Willy doesn't use his feet enough and often holds the ball too long. You cannot expect a lineman to hold his block for much more than five seconds. You also have to have an OC that can compensate when a line is having issues. There are always things you can do to help a line out. -
Um where do you get 30% as an exchange rate? It is closer to 42% right now. Exchange rates are always larger than the actual dollar values.
-
And yet Bettman has done everything to keep some teams that don't have all three in the league. The Jets failed because the team and arena were crappy and that kept the fans away. Now they have a crappy team with fans and a slightly better facility, though far inferior to almost all other teams. US expansion would fare no better this time around than last time because all of the same issues are present and cannot be overcome.
-
No to US expansion.

After 2008 we needed just a few tweaks on the line. Khan was long done (he just was never the same after his illness) and the right side was porous. Kelly's solution was to ditch three quarters of the line and all serviceable back-ups. Because statistically they did not do too bad and our QB spot was so questionable they pretty much skipped doing **** for years. Hell, I think I was taking flac back in 08 when I started saying our line needed fixing, but everyone was convinced it was Glenn, Bishop, or whoever other than the line. Last year, despite all the sacks, I thought I finally saw some progress. However, our play calling did nothing to help the guys out and Willy often held onto the ball way too freaking long and rarely used his feet to get out of trouble so that didn't help either. Sad to think too that we just let some decent OL walk like Sorenson. Folks thought he was trash but I believe he started almost every game for Edmonton since then. geez.
-
Meh. If they had focused on the OL when I started talking about it, after Kelly destroyed it in 2009, we wouldn't be talking about it now. Not only Walters and co have screwed the pooch on this.
-
Away games during the weekdays doesn't bother me but home games on any day other than Friday and Sunday are a royal pain in the butt for me. This year's home schedule sucks a large amount of ass for me but I will have to deal with it.
-
Did they not do that last year too?
-
Definitely Sunday.
-
No. It should rotate as it always has. Why would you want to watch shitty teams more?
-
We played the Riders three times last year (and I think the Lions three times as well). They rotate which teams you play 3 times so it has to be Edmonton and Calgary. I like the rotating policy crap playing crap or good playing good more makes zero sense to me.
-
There are a couple of good OL still there for the taking. Not sure if how many are Canucks though. Despite the NI pick-ups we made we could still use some more National OL
-
You guys released a ton of players so it might be a bit much to say the six(?) players you signed means you have "immensely" improved. Winnipeg improved a bit but they, too, have plenty of holes to fill. Both teams signed some big names. It remains to be seen if there is actually improvement on the field.
-
Walters hasn't been like Taman today or any other time. While he made big moves today they were moves made to fill holes. And knows there is more work to be done. If he were Taman we wouldn't have any draft picks at all. Walter does have to do better in the draft though. What Chris Jones has done in Sask reminds me of what Kelly did here gutted nearly all areas of the team, even parts that are not broken. Funny thing about the rider forum posts is they are talking about picking up some big names like Liang, Capicotti, and Grymes. Lol
-
A lot of the team was pretty bad. Denmark was shut out or had little impact in many games. Willy has been broken for two years. Etc. Etc. We are thin on DLine and Turner has had some success before so I don't think the writing is on the wall yet. In fact many guys may yet lose their jobs as this team has been pretty bad for the last two years. I am indifferent whether Turner stays or goes. I am just saying the Bombers are not yet in a position to say for sure what happens to many players whose jobs have been put in doubt because of recent signings.
-
I don't think Winnipeg has the depth at DL to cut Bryant. That may change but I would bet they enter TC with Turner.
-
We didn't re-sign our guys because they suck and there was a wealth of players out there that could plug gaping holes in our lineup. Hopefully, we can plug more holes with a good draft. What too many outsiders have failed to notice is that Winnipeg has been trying to build largely without FA and have sucked hard because of it. Sometimes you just don't have the liberty of playing the long game hoping prospects will pan out. If Walters didn't do what he did today he would likely have paid the price of unemployment halfway through the 2016 season. The signings today go a long way to turning the Bombers fortunes around. Walters has finally made moves to really improving this team. I don't expect any Grey Cup this year but at least we have a chance of not sucking. More work to be done but I am finally getting some optimism back.

Around The League Off Season Discussion
Dragon37 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
He would be much cheaper than Laurent and he is pretty darn good. -
So let me get this straight a guy who posts a video of Washington getting rag-dolled gets razzed for defining him with one play and you want to do the same thing? The guy was a bust. He extended drives with bad penalties. Penalties opposing teams came to expect. He fumbled more than he broke out a good punt return. He couldn't cover short, slants, or posts. He did make some good plays but far and away the guy was a liability. But hey if you wanna continue your Washington love fest....
-
Last year you could always count on them opposition throwing into a third and long on Washington because he would ALWAYS get flagged. I lost count of how many times he kept the D on the field.
-
I don't see them extending anyone on that list especially not Washington since they replaced him with the equally ineffective Harris.

Bombers Sign Macho Harris and DL Sheyon Green

Just like Washington. Harris is certainly not an upgrade. -
Well sure you get tired but they are no the only crew on the field.the other team's unit is on the field too running, pushing, hitting. So ....
-
While Randle did fine as WIL they need to get him back to the DB spot. That whole moving him from the outside to WIL weakened our backfield.
